This is a topic to express what you personally have gotten from your journey at the village thus far. It could be how you got here, what you have accomplished, good times, bad times.. You could share your whole story, give a few shout outs to cool villagers, or say nothing really. I know we have some pretty cool ones around here so I would love to hear them.

I will start:

About 8 years ago I saw my brother on this forum looking at a quest guide. He told me about awesome drop parties and how we could get free rune if we went to them. At this point I had no idea what a forum was to begin with, but I signed up anyway to help me with my scapin'.

I was a little active on the forums, but I wasn't really talking to people. That is, until I found out about rv chat. I thought meepbot was the coolest thing, and I smiled whenever people greeted each other in their weird ways. I think the most memorable was Troggy, he would always be like HI :D??!?!??!!?!?!?. I also met my first real RV friend in chat, mooman45678 or some numbers.. Jacob. I remember him, haven't talked to him in ages.

Anyways, come RS2 I started to get really active in game/on forums. And then, I met "him." A certain villager whom I loved to talk to, mostly on msn and a little in game. He was extremely nice to me, and he became quite fond of me. He would send me a pm a day on the village that I would wake up to usually, they just put a smile on my face. And then, I realized he was quite enamored with me. It was exciting, I was still in my awkward stage of junior high so I wasn't really used to guys giving me attention. I have some of his old pms saved, here's an example of one,

Quote:
"GOODLUCK ON YOUR SPEECH TODAY!!! I'm sure you'll do great!!! I've seen a lot more confidence in you the last couple of days, and I think it just goes to show you that you really have nothing to fear. You're speech is wonderful, you are wonderful, and everything else that has to do with you just radiates perfection :)
I have my math midterm today and to be honest, I'm not scared. it's 1/5 of my grade and I didn't do any real studying yet XD. Because I know that however bad I do at the end of the day you'll still be there. And everything about you soothes me, you make all my problems go away in a flash. Frankly I'm REALLY glad it's almost summer because this might be a problem if it wasn't :P "

In hindsight I feel so stupid and foolish. I really didn't treat him the way I should have. I didn't want to do a relationship over , and it stressed me out. I kind of just sat there really and did nothing. He did the greatest and nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. There was a topic about Christmas wishlists, and I had posted that I wanted my mom to quit smoking. So he sent a heartfelt email to her, she went on Chantix, and has been smoke free since then. Thinking about it again I want to cry just because it was the greatest gift anyone has given me. I have since then lost touch with this angel, and I hope one day I can properly thank him for all the good he has done, and apologize for.. well what a little girl I was back then.

In between all of this, and onward, I started to meet a lot of people that I talked to a lot in game, jackson333, kmjhawk, monk nick, alpr. We would KQ and kill DKS all the time. ... all again who I haven't seen in ages. There was also Mr.G1zm0n4t0r aka Wesley. What a doll he was. I have tried to keep in contact with him also after he quit rs and left rv... but I did a terrible job. Also at some point the "faker 4" came to be. Goten, Andrey, Rab, and Boa were all good friends of mine too. All of these people, and then some, I considered friends outside of highschool. RV really provided a wonderful place for me to socialize without worrying about what people thought of me (people's opinions were everything to me back then.)

Unfortunately I got banned from RS, real life took over after, and I became inactive from RV. Looking back I realize how much I appreciated this place and took the community for granted. I have just returned after about 4 years of activity, and I realize the community is much different than it used to be. Not necessarily a bad thing, just different.

Anyway I hope you all share your stories as well so I don't feel stupid and sentimental all by myself :( Thank you to all of you who have made my stay great thusfar.

The good ol' days (When I, upon losing a password, would make a new account rather than find the password to the old one >.<)

There isn't too much to tell really. I started life at RV as the sort of narcissistic brat that I now hate, I mellowed, then I developed into a fully functioning adult male with a broadsword rapier wit. Made friends, made enemies, wouldn't change a single thing I've done on here.

In particular I'd like to thank the Clan Chat for being awesome. In particular, I'd like to "Give props" to Muse, Twobit, Rex, Poison, Dimak, Tal, Goten, Tanks and some others for making clan chat one of my favorite places.

Not much to say but I'll give it a shot:
I started playing in 2003 back in RSC and I joined RV in 2004 searching for a Kalphite Queen guide knowing that I was F2P and my parents would never pay for members. My original name was I_own_rs and I thought it was the greatest name ever xD. I actively posted and loved all the RV parties being hosted especially those by Karlfisher. From 2005-2009 which were my high school years, I became inactive on RS and RV since I had no desires to play runescape anymore (whether it was boring or the influence of high school, I dunno). Around that time I was banned as well. I came back officially in the summer of 2010 (1st year of Uni just finished) because it was the first time I got members now that I had an income of my own and I have been actively playing until now. A lot of my old friends have moved on from RS but I made some new friends and it's nice to chat in RV Lounge when scapin'.

started Rs in june 2003 with Kurosaki Ichigo from some dbz site some one was spamming rs in chat. Ended up on Rv because some person was spamming "need quest help? guides at runevillage.com".

Joined in aug 03, but never spoke/posted till jan 04. then pretty much would end up doing new quests with Euph, A5chow, Svstoned. Would go to drop partys and ended up running auctions to raise money for them and donating.

Runevillage and its members are what made me play runescape, there are loads of people i have played RS with Applequest, Jinxy, devil fly, Shadow7, old Friziod :P, Elanthiel, Tal Set 65, ZxC, ZiZi, Rarius, JimmyBe, Ravn, Alex Louis, Jimmybe

and there is probably still loads more missing

started rs right after barrows came out, found rv through googling and lurked for a few months, then finally signed up and started posting.

Riveting tale.

As for memorable times here, I think it would be better to name people instead of events as the people almost made the events unimportant.

In no particular order... saiala, phat hobo, hoof, kaitlee, mackerel, tokuman, freak e bob, hell all of psi rva, zizi, seatoad (lol anyone remember him?), tf2 rvers even though I attempt to troll them too often, field of death

hell im sure im forgetting so many people ;_;

edit: also forgot to say ty to dimak for the rune med, my first rune item in rs, never was lucky with drops or money :D

My story is very short. Basically, Killa introduced to that of the game, Runescape, and I started playing it for a bit with him. He then showed me the forums, and so I joined. This was... about four years ago I think? Although I am more of a lurker, and I do not play RS that much anymore, I do enjoy the time spent here. All of you guys are so great and wonderful to hang around with.

Runevillage the forum is pretty well much done. Runevillage the group will eventually die, but as long as we're still friends with each other in the end, it's still a pretty big thought in our heads. Runevillage the family is forever, no matter where we settle down. If absolutely nothing else ever comes of Runevillage in the future, that alone is a pretty damn awesome thought.

Saw some guys on RV whilst in year 9 or so of school. Signed up for FOD mainly..Good days of Hiei, Nomercy, Glowbal and others..All who have gone now.
I'm not entirely sure who my first friend was on RV...I think it was Halley92. Who I believe dislikes me greatly now and has since left the village.
Other early friends include Donub, Zinyx, Dr Henry and ofcourse Jimmy.
Jimmy is a ridiculously good friend considering we only know each other through the internet.

And as for Wes leaving..He didn't leave, he was banned.

Might as well throw my story in...

Ended up finding RV on accident while I was searching around on Tip (first fansite I ever visited, which I now returned to) because a friend didn't feel like answering the questions I was asking. Of course, it was under a different account name (Bustergod) in 2004 and ended up losing the password. I ended up waiting until my 13th birthday a year later (I lied, so what?) and didn't really get involved until I sold white flowers to Snake, who removed the three warnings I had on me for too long due to guy I cannot remember. Anyways, life continued to be fun and giggles in 2006, where most of my activity peaked by meeting various villagers, joining and leaving the RVA 10+ times, changed my name twice that amount, and doing various shenanigans. 2007 would be my "dark year" despite my legend promotion, but my golden year followed (where I didn't post much on RV in 2008 and practically didn't put one reply or topic post the year following).

Did my return in 2010, in which the village didn't have the same feel. Now, in 2011, I've graduated high school (lit society made me pro at English class), turned into a fully evolved sarcastic smartass, and now I've switched fansite allegiance. For 5 1/2 years, this small village was pretty much full of adventure.

Oh, and for my shout-outs:

Willow, Ziny, Zilla, Apple/Jenny, Doodle, Shadow, Cute Unit, Dr Henry (because he wouldn't report any bullet injuries I had to the cops, :shifty:), Jimmy, Ranger, Rarius, Boa, Zain, Goten, Jaron, Omega, Hiei, Blitzacesamy, Tau, TAI, Brandon, C-eric, Donut, Simon, Pyro (because we seem to share kinky interests), Rarius, Lisa, Bjb, Wes (total ass, but sure can put on a show), anyone who was around in 2005-2006 and made it fun.

Great, now I have a nostalgiagasm. :>_<:

EDIT: If you can make out that gibberish, I love you. Too bad I won't see this for awhile.

ilu Cam. :D

I'm not sure who first introduced me to the site, I think it was probably bjb. I remember how much weaker he used to be than me when we first started playing. Now he out-levels me many times over. I used RV's guides since about the time that it came out but I didn't sign up for the forums until I joined Snake and Pyro's clans. (I was a spy for both sides or something. They apparently were having a clan war or something and supposedly neither of them new I was a spy. In all likelihood, they were probably both yanking my chain. I was a stupid kid back then.)

I honestly can't remember all that much from back then. RV's been a part of my life for many years now. I remember receiving that exciting pm from Meepster informing me that the chat mods had unanimously voted me in to become a mod. I remember the elder mods/admins slowly leaving Runevillage. I remember looking up to Meepster the most. I was just getting into programming at this time and the fact that he created something even as simple as our chat room amazed me and I think he's probably the one that most inspired me to program. I remember NintendoDude letting me wear his party hat. (This was before lending items came out so it was a pretty big deal of trust.) I've made some amazing friends here and even after I left RuneVillage, I still kept up with RuneVillage members, past as well as current, on Windows Live.

I remember joining the Villager with Frogger and becoming Village Staff. (Initially I didn't care too much for Frogger because he took the head position on the Villager, a role I had been working hard to get to, but we eventually became close friends as well as ended up providing some site-hosting services including hosting GameStar's first(?) forum.)

I'm sure I could go on even more with stories about my time here so I guess I'll give some shoutouts here.

Frogger, Knux, Dimak, Pyro, Snake, Bjb, I'm really glad I had the pleasure to meet you all and consider you some of my best friends.

Edit: Oh and before I met Pikachu12349 (and the five hundred other namechanges he went through) I used to talk in chatspeak. Now I write properly. Thanks, bro.

Edit2: Also, Jaron and whomever else I missed. :3

I'ma try and keep this short and sweet...

My buddy showed me this place in the computer lab or library at school, and I decided to join up and see what all the fuss was about. I ended up posting more than him and eventually met a lot of really wonderful people here. Most of them, however, are no longer active for various reasons, but they've all made my stay here enjoyable.

My level of activity has fluctuated up and down over the years, but I can safely say that after 7 years, I'm still posting here and having fun with it! :P

Some memorable moments include:

Jaun incident
Kanga and Humble incident
Petrenks incident
Mass modding in 2004
A5/Apple's story
Legend rank in 2006 (Actually, i dont even know if I received this rank that year or not)
The big Runevillage birthday party bashes
Meepbot!
The big quote pyramid (Legends know what im talking 'bout)
Subway theme month

I'm sure there are more, but I cant remember them right now.

Oh man, I have a really funny story about that that I'm not going to tell because if I did I'd get banned. :-s

Anywho, onto my story. I started playing RS in January 2003, and I joined RV in December 2003. I was introduced to RV I believe around October 2003 by cgb8000, who was a friend of mine irl. I remember going to a big drop party soon after I joined, I believe in February 2004 and I think it was hosted by Euph. I used to be incredibly close with a lot of people on RV, especially Piggah and EaglesFan. StalkerJoe was really cool for a while until he became a chat moderator and then he became a total Fuzzy Bunny. I used to talk to wit a bit, and I actually "met" Piggah through him. I haven't really felt very connected to the community in YEARS, but for whatever reason I kept coming back (somewhat).

Tech Elite was the Fuzzy Bunny back in the day. I have fond memories of the AMD vs Intel arguments that wit and I used to have. Also, I was clearly awesome in chat--except for me getting perma-banned on the forums and then unbanned a few days later. The year and a half that I was banned from chat kinda sucked. That whole incident kinda ruined my chances of ever getting a special rank, but whatever. :awesome:

I was like.... 9 or 10 when I joined. I honestly can't remember.

Anyways, I joined, and Kikori gave me..... 'tips' (aka lecturing/raging at me about how much of a noob I was. :P ) No one had patience for me but Donub, and he remain one of my favorite Villagers to this day. Then I read a few RP's and the ZB series, and that inspired me to start writing. Over the past 3 years I've gained a bit more respect for and from other Villagers, and in my opinion matured a fair bit.

As for shout-outs...

Gamey, Donub, Kikori, Landerpurex, Jaron, Junesetsfire, and HK.

And one of my best memorable moments: "2009 never happened." (The rollback.)

D'awwwww. And yeah, kikori always did rage pretty hard at you. He was always mad at me for letting you rp but I said give the poor kid a chance....bahaha. To say you've matured a lot is an understatement.

Anyway, my story. I started playing rs in 2002 or 2003...but I think it was '02. My friend lilsmurf2008 who I went to school with irl introduced me to the site, he's been a member since 2003 I think? And them my other friend irl progamer6 joined as well, and I decided I would as well. I'd been lurking on the guides on this site pretty much since its inception, but as you can see, didn't join until summer of '04.

At any rate, I only had sporadic internet access (only when at a friends, and rarely we'd get it at home then it would be shut off due to nonpayment.) until I started college in 2008. But I loved runescape and RV and would post profusely in spurts when I had the chance, baha.

At any rate, when I started becoming really active on RV my favorite places to hang out were the rp and lit society, the media mansion, general chat, and debate forum. I always valued the community here more for the non-rs related stuff than rs related stuff. But I still like to check the rs forums from time to time, my favorites being the field of death and what would you like to see in rs. I've been a totally unreliable member of the guides team, but I've done more than some, having written five or so guides, which it seems half of each was lost forever in the rollback. This largely took the wind right out of my sails. I also joined the villager right as it was breathing its last breath, but hope to help revive it in the future. I also really enjoy working with the RVET as well. I do my best to contribute where we can.

So anyway, the MOST fun I've had on this site is playing mafia, hands down. I was there for public game one, and am here for public game whatever. I also enjoyed playing in Znath's rp awhile back, but dammit if I don't remember what it was about. I also played a few latter-day battlefields, those were fun for a minute.

Like everyone else, I've met people here who, it is safe to say, have changed my life. My first serious 'friend' here was ex rexnub, but it seems he is hardly around anymore. I also, at one point, was voicechatting with abc231 on a weekly basis. It seems I was one of the very few people he actually got along with here. But, by and far, (and I hate to do this, play favorites, but I can't even help it) my best friend here is Kikori Kid. He's taught me several things about myself, one of the most important being it's OKAY to disagree and still be friends, though we agree on most things. There are things that man knows about me that none of my rl friends do. He's always been there for me, and I want to thank him for that. Moreover, he has NEVER judged me, which is more than I can say about most people.

Honorable mentions include:
Jaron (Speaks for itself)
Topsummoner (You make for some awesone mafia-ing and rping)
TheAnimal (see above)
Riptidenub (just a cool kid)
Cam (great times in the CC, and in arguing music)
EoM (always a level headed guy in the debate forum)
Paidea (your skill at mafia made me respect you, and you turned out to be a cool guy besides)
Tanksandguns (great guy, always pressuring me to help out, awesome to work with)

Really, anyone who's played mafia over the years, joined me in rp's, and in debates back when I gave a crap. Basically, everyone here has helped me grow and has taught me something or other.

4 years (almost, meh) is nothing compared to the rest of you D:

Joined RS in early '06 after hanging out with some friends. I don't know what they personally did to find RV...but a year or so later they started talking about RV. And I came here and started using your guys' guides and whatnot, but never really for the Pub. Then on December 31, 2007 I became an official member of the Pub. I'm cool like that joining the day before 2008 (it was like 2 hours before midnight when I signed up 8-[ ).
Then I learned what a forum was.
I was really annoying when I joined (whatever I thought I just pretty much posted) and I hit the return key twice after like every sentence I made. And I never capitalized anything, no punctuation, etc. But now 4 years later I am type like a pro.
I could go on and make some ridiculous story or speech or something on how this place changed my life. But I won't do that because I'm on an itouch (which I post alot from, tbh) and it's painfully hard editing all the wrong buttons and I think the speech will fall along with everyone else's. So a quick "<3" will suffice.

<3

Also, I don't really have any people in particular to shoutout to, you guys are all cool. I've never had any problems with anyone...so no anti-shoutouts...uhh, whatever.
