Is there any way to make FLAC files smaller? I mean, I like the format, but holy balls its size makes it ridiculous to use for me.

The files are big because of their higher sound quality compared to most other formats.

I'm well aware, but they're ridiculously big. Like, I'd rather convert them just to have more room.

Yes, they're lossless formats; They store every available bit of information, if you want something smaller you're most likely looking at a decrease in quality

Although to be honest you're quite the audiophile if you only want to use FLAC, high bitrate MP3s have always been enough for me

FLAC is pretty overkill if you ask me. 320kbs MP3's are just fine in themselves.

I will give this a shot simply for the ease of accessing my playlist from any browser sounds like it could come in handy at some random period in my life.

That's been my view as well (also to Loudawg). Although, I will choose download the FLAC files if they're available just so I have a high standard when converting to 320 kbps MP3s.

Looks like a heavy strike on apple!

The idea sounds interesting, but I don't think I'd use it i.e. instead of an iPod.

However if it can bring out something like a minimalistic earphone with 3G.. that would be incredible :p
