So, if any of you weren't aware, I've spent the last five months studying abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland. In those five months, I did a lot of traveling through Scotland, plus a few forays to elsewhere in Europe. Had an amazing time, so here's some pictures to show!

Scotland:
Hidden:
Arthur's Seat, the peak of a dormant volcano. Also, the view of my bedroom window in Edinburgh.
Image

Streets of Edinburgh.
Image

Arthur's Seat again in spring.
Image

Atop the peak with one of my flatmates.
Image

Whisky tasting in Aberfeldy.
Image

Forth Bridge, massive steel structure, one of the inspirations of the Eiffel tower.
Image

View of the Five Sisters Mountains and the loch between them. Found a pair of severed sheep's heads hanging from a tree up there. Not gonna post the pictures though.
Image

Eilean Donan Castle.
Image

Pitlochry, Isle of Skye.
Image

Doune Castle, better known as the Monty Python castle. As in, the castle in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzcLQRXW6B0, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8yjNbcKkNY, and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3YiPC91QUk (Inside only).
Image

Hairy coo/Highland Cow.
Image

Baby one. Cool fella.
Image

With some friends up in the Highlands.
Image

Night out in Fort Augustus. Don't judge.
Image

Dunrobin, nothern Highlands.
Image

Standing stones in Orkney (northern Scottish islands).
Image

Image

Orkney coast.
Image

Highland Park distillery on Orkney. Delicious.
Image

Went puffin spotting. 8)
Image

Small seaside village by the lovely name of Tongue.
Image

Don't remember it's name but it's pretty.
Image

Scaled a ruined castle (Inverlochy) like a boss.
Image

Train station in Rogart. Hostel there was recycled railway sleeper cars. Cool deal.
Image

With another friend at Beltane Fire Festival - a reenactment of a pagan May Day festival in the heart of Edinburgh.
Image

Beltane.
Image

Image

Image

Image

Ireland
Hidden:
Blarney gardens, as seen from Blarney Castle.
Image

Beach in southwest Ireland.
Image

At the Cliffs of Moher. Never has a sign been more worthwhile to ignore.
Image

With the appropriate rain, some parts of the cliff get to have a real nice infinity-pool effect.
Image

The cliffs.
Image

Probably gonna stir up some trouble with the Northern Ireland pictures? Derry to the nationalists, Londonderry to the loyalists.
Image

Nationalist murals.
Image

Loyalist murals.
Image

Night out in Derry.
Image

Giant's Causeway.
Image

Belfast now. One of many nationalist murals.
Image

And one of many loyalist murals.
Image

Pilgrimage complete.
Image

Jameson's distillery, old pot still.
Image

Amsterdam & Oslo:
Hidden:
Visited a friend studying in Utrecht, spent a day in Amsterdam. Very few pictures, but it's a cool town.

I was in Oslo on my own. It's a cool town, but everything is absurdly expensive. Really put a damper on my visit because I pretty much couldn't eat, couldn't afford a bus or tram around, etc... But still, cool place.

Amsterdam: Fluorescent lights museum.
Image

From the museum, animated for your viewing pleasure.
Image

Amsterdam canals.
Image

Houseboat!
Image

Murals inside Oslo's city hall.
Image

Viking ships.
Image

Sculpture in Vigeland park. You have as much idea what's going on as I do.
Image

Akershus Fortress.
Image

View of the fjord from an island a little bit offshore.
Image

Berlin:
Hidden:
Probably the coolest individual city I've traveled through. Has a ton of history, obvious, but of anywhere I've been to, I think Berlin has the best modern culture to it.

Der Reichstag.
Image

Der Berliner Dom.
Image

Holocaust memorial.
Image

Snippet of the wall, completely out of place.
Image

East Side Gallery - Longest surviving stretch of the Berlin Wall. On side is officially commissioned murals, while the other is left to graffiti artists. Very cool.
Image

Back side, with a lovely lady from Nottingham I met at my hostel.
Image

Image

The commissioned side.
Image

Image

Yaam. This place ranks as the most surreal place I've ever been to. Basically, a bunch of Jamaican ex-pats decided to recreate Jamaica in Berlin, so they built a beach, cabana, might have even been a palm tree or two. Quite crazy.
Image

I said I loved Berlin for the modern culture there. This place, Kunsthaus Tacheles, is the heart of it. The entire building has been converted to an art house, with absolutely every flat surface covered in graffiti. The lot behind it houses scrap metal sculptures and more graffiti. Three bars within the place.
Image

Image

Image

Image

Krakow:
Hidden:
Very cool city, sort of went out on a limb going here. Worth it.

City center.
Image

Odd sculpture in the city center. I am still a bit perplexed by it.
Image

The Vistula river from Wawel Castle.
Image

My feeble attempt at stringing together a couple of shots by hand. Don't worry, buildings are not actually that crooked there.
Image

Chopin is a srsly big deal there. This is one of many pianos throughout the city dedicated to him.
Image

Interesting graffiti.
Image

Weiliczka salt mine. Statues carved out of salt. You could potentially eat them.
Image

Salt gnomes.
Image

Delicious.
Image

This is such a small sample of pictures, but I think I've at least gotten the gist of everything. If you can find me on Facebook, I've got a lot more on there. If you want to see more of something specifically, just let me know. I have something like 2000 pictures taken.

Holy cow. Some of the scenery images are amazing. That Berlin arthouse is also pretty sweet too.

Scotland! Land of my ancestors. I've always wanted to go and wear a kilt everywhere.

DID YOU WEAR A KILT?!

Just one picture of Amsterdam! I am disappointed.
I've been to both Berlin and Krakow myself, great places. Have you been to Auschwitz too? One of the most impressive places I've ever been too.

Honestly? I don't really understand why people always visit Amsterdam, what is there to see?

Very cool pictures, I've never been to any of these places (except Amsterdam, but I think I was 5, and the only other time I went I was only there for a few hours and didn't see much)

Eric lives there.

Usually I'm not phased by pictures such as these, but honestly Steely, I'm jealous.

Unicorns and care bears if you go into any of the cafes.

Eilean Castle is best castle. Did you find Sean Connery's head?

Oh, he actually lives in Amsterdam? I can see why he'd like it better than I do, then

That's not just Amsterdam though, I think most cities have coffeeshops (a café just sells alcohol)

Utrecht had them as well, so I'm guessing most cities. Added two more Amsterdam photos as well.

Mord: Didn't find Sean Connery's head, didn't know it was there. :( Crazy enough, I actually have a friend getting married there next spring (or maybe two springs from now). So damn jealous of the location. Also, a slightly better picture of the castle for your viewing pleasure.

I want kilt pictures. You'd better have worn a kilt at some point.

Never wore an actual kilt. :( Even a solid "fun" kilt is like $80! Closest I got was the tartan getup in Fort Augustus.

Right, I think Simons mentioned like a week before I left Edinburgh that you study there as well? Is this true? Would be rather bizarre if we were in such close proximity the whole time and didn't know it.
