As a person who currently does not have a PC and does everything over a mobile phone, I endorse Discord. It's way smoother and more streamlined than Skype, very likely on PC too. It's also modifiable with bots and stuff, and may indeed bring back a wave of Chat Mafia, which typically works with as little as five players.

Also it has a dark theme setting, which is just fantastic.
