If you want to quit your job, two weeks notice for manners.
If you want to take a vacation, two weeks notice for planning purposes.
If you want to do pretty much any thing in the world, two god damn weeks notice.

For some reason, my family doesn't understand that. "Hey, they make your schedule Tuesday, right? So ask Monday if you can take your vacation next week. Two hours, two weeks, what's the difference."
So Thursday rolls around after having secured the god damn vacation. "No family vacation. Is there any way to not waste your vacation time?"

Two, weeks, notice. And my family wonders where I get any of my last-minute planning habits from... or why I dislike them so much.

I know right? I hate planning ahead because someone always forgets then makes other plans or doesn't follow through with the plans made. I like being spontaneous.

Two weeks for quitting, however, is standard. Less is bad, and if you give more then you will drift into an imnearlyoutahere! coma.

I've been in PA for about a month now, and so far, I guess I am enjoying it. It is quieter around here than CT. It makes me smile to see deer, foxes, etc. I like seeing wildlife when walking the dog.
