Beat Jacksmith today (you can hold your applause til the end of the post). I smiled that I beat it, got ticked off that I invested so much time into a flash game I don't even like.

Sounds like RS :p ( Even though I plan on starting it up again in a few months )

I'm just a bit ticked off that I have to work another closing shift tomorrow. I swear, lately, my job has been wanting me to work closing shifts; that and this week hasn't been such a great work week. Meh, at least I get Monday off, which is a change.

That always stinks. Especially when you're a full time student who has to get to school pretty early the next day

Mad: Went to buy ammo at Wal-Mart, guy ahead of me bought the last three boxes of 22LR

Smile: Old lady told me to wait there and she'll be right back, sold me 3 x 555 round boxes from the back. I'm their best ammo customer. :)

That sounds annoying. Most people go to uni to get an education. They dont go there because they already have one :S

Today my frustration was deer. Over the span of 60miles, more than a dozen deer nearly got hit.

Smile: me and a co-worker started singing to country songs for about half of my shift today lol

Mad: "slow" customers. lol.

okay so what does common sense tell you?

*we take out all the food from the hot bar, turn off the lights and start cleaning up*

*customer* "Hey! You! Got any more fried chicken?!"

*facepalm*

Me: uhh... No sir there's no food over there and the lights are off.... We are closed...
co-worker is trying to not burst out laughing at the idiot.

They make my day and annoy the hell outta me when I'm trying to get things done

It does, though it won't be more than 2 dollars an hr. :/

That's why I am going to grad school, which starts August 26th. I smile on a regular basis for that reason.

That is excellent!!

You may have seen some news about calgary/high river lately. But it kind of pissed me off that after years of telling my mom to move, she got hit by a flood.

Everyones basement on her street needed to be gutted and sprayed for moulds and fungus because there was 7 feet of water in the basements.

Wish I could get a raise :/ I am one of the most useful, reliable people that work for my store.
I can work in every department short of management and I still don't make over 10/hr. I did the math and my monthly net income is below poverty working my ass off >.> lol.

Welp, we've chatted on the issue before so the advice is out there, it's up to you to follow it or make your own way. Keep in mind that Walmart's employees are the most underpaid employees on the planet, and though I may crack the 10 dollar/hr mark, I am doing work that would be valued at 15-20 dollars an hour (or salaried) elsewhere. It's all about the experience, really. That's the most valuable part of it.

I'm frankly rather surprised I have gotten this position. I have been a cashier at walmart for just over a year, have a bachelor's degree in English and am on the cusp of going to graduate school. IE, this job was just a filler while I tried to figure out my next move.

The job I'm taking is titled Customer Service Manager, which is the bottom rung of middle management. For me to be qualified for this position after only a year in the company and really with no workplace management experience prior is pretty sweet.

Long story short, some places do choose the right person for the job regardless of experience. Anyone can be trained in operations, but true leadership skills are intangible. That, and if you have a degree from an accredited university, it says a lot about you besides your field of study. It proves you are good at learning, that you can set and accomplish goals, and basically that you are a smart person. I think this really helped me clinch the job.

Still smiling about this. Cheers! :awesome:
