It has become clear that my editing is not sufficient enough of a hint.

Please discuss anything that isn't how well our political leaders are handling things. Criticize their decisions, not them. Sure, it wasn't the most stellar news conference, but a) the reporters did an amazingly horrible job of asking questions and not a word has been said about them here, and b) if you're expecting a 'good' news conference over a sudden tragedy like this, I'm just not sure what to tell you.

Also note that how well isn't how. Think Obama messed up by not promising to seek eternal vengeance? Did Boehner do a bad thing by not having his own press conference? Great. Explain why. Criticize the action, not the person.

There are like 10 posts a day on RV. Surely we are past the point of this kind of moderation. If people want to show off their stupidity, lets allow that and then shout them down. Maybe they'll learn something, because AOB surely hasn't.

Captain buzzkill is trying to start a buzz, not kill it.
Monk's the one trying to kill it, since the last time Archbishop pulled this kinda thing, it was a lot of (negative) activity.

I just meant the whole "10 posts a day" quip. I fully support stupidity. When's the last time I've posted something really meaningful here? Most of my posts are either mafia or some nonsense I spammed the board with.

I don't understand, why this event? Do you guys believe this was domestic terrorism or foreign? Most people seem to believe the former. However the person of suspicion was supposedly here on a student visa.

Personally, I think America has a glaring problem when it comes to immigration. Too many people that hate America are able to get in. They simply want to abuse the mechanics of anchor generations or cause mayhem in the forms of terrorism, protesting and the like.

The kid they suspected was a Saudi student here on a visa... who got caught in the blast. They interviewed him in the hospital, he voluntarily let them search his residence, and they didn't find anything linking him to the incident (other than leg wounds). There were also some Saudi girls who were running that were briefly investigated, but they were shown to have no links either.

Unfortunately, The Onion has done the best job reporting on this side of things: http://www.theonion.com/articles/author ... uld,32071/

Right now, my biggest fear is the initial profiling the police used and told the public to use. Between the Saudi kids and the description of a suspect they told people to look out for (darker skinned, possibly black, male, with a possible foreign accent) my worry is that a new wave of racism is going to hit.

I think America has a bigger problem with domestic terrorism to be honest. Immigration controls are never going to provide a safety net to stop 100% of people who want to cause harm to the country, so you can't really blame immigration controls alone. According to wiki, 250/335 terrorism incidents in the US have been domestic. I can't think of a single country in the western world where domestic terrorism is that significant a problem (maybe the Uk with the IRA).

Then you've got homegrown terrorism, and that's a whole other ball game.

You do know that pressure cookers have been used as bomb casings before, yes? It's basically just a large pipe bomb.

Are there any RV'ers - past or present that live within Boston? Sure looks pretty tense there right now.

Apparently right now, one of the suspects may be taking an Amtrak train to CT. Police are on the hunt for this guy. Also, according to my friend, Boston is on lockdown.

EDIT: In CT, not to CT. My bad!

Exactly Aragorn... home-grown terrorism as a result of allowing "innocent" foreigners to come here on work/school/official visas...

Apparently two light-skinned suspects hijacked a car and got in a shootout with the police. One is dead, the other is a 19 year old kid from Kergistan (sp?) who legally became a citizen with his brother (the dead guy) and went to community college in the northeast.

According to the hostage in the car the two brothers admitted to being the Marathon Bombers and had explosives strapped to their chest.
