Jeez, nobody of you has any sense of history and tradition? If I'm not at work I'll probably watch it, it's a historic event after all.
The thing that did make me laugh is the fact that only royal heads of state are invited, so no Obama, Sarkozy or Merkel, they can watch it on TV just like the rest of us.

Our PM is invited (although technically she's our head of government - not sure if our head of state will be there).

Isn't your head of state the Queen anyway?

Yeah you're right, I was thinking of our Governor-General - but she's only the Queen's representative.

I believe she's the head of state of every English speaking country except the USA :P

It's every little girl's dream to grow up into a princess and find a prince which is probably why I'm more excited about it than the rest of you guys, plus it adds a change to my otherwise currently boring life :P

I'm proud of our monarchy and the traditions it stands for, I feel in the modern world so many things like this are overlooked as being "old-fashioned" and mundane whereas in the past the celebrations would have gone on for days.

I heard the batchelor party didn't go too well-- seems everytime William tried to put a bill in the stripper's g-string he remembered it had a picture of his grandmother on it.... sorta put a damper on things....

Personally couldn't care less about the German family we keep in a house in the capital but they make more than they cost to keep so fair play ;)

Even though they have german ancestors that doesn't make them german, the current queen was born in this country as were her parents and grandparents, that's British enough for me :P

Our President probably wasn't born in America and that's good enough for us.

Oh fair enough don't get me wrong I'm not trying to make any point about how nationality is defined to the average population it has just struck me as odd that something at "British" as the Monarchy are actually 2nd/3rd generation immigrants when there are a lot in the country that can trace their family history over 1000 years. Didn't they find out at some point anyway that some bloke in Austrailia is the rightful heir to the throne because they cocked up who they made Queen a few hundred years back ?

list of things that I care about regarding the royal wedding:

1. slightley curious about her dress
2. day off... oh wait, I'm not working anyway. So just number 1.

But really, I am SO sick of the TV making out like we should be caring/having street parties/buying a new outfit in order to sit home and watch it on tv. The worst of them all? The suggestion that we upgrade to HD in order to watch it. Not only is it stupid to suggest we buy new TVs/freeview boxes/sky subscriptions in order to watch one program, but prince Phillip in HD?? Shudder.

The reason Obama at least isn't invited is it would cost 80 gazillion quid in security to have him there. And in case you didn't notice, the countries already broke without paying out for that.
