Strange thing about my dreams: I can remember them for about 10 minutes after I wake up, and sometimes I write them down, but after the 10 minutes or so, I can't picture the dreams in my head, even if I DID write them down.

That's not strange, that's normal.

Anyway, keep writing your dreams down. That's one trick to making it happen more often. Not sure why, but it is.

Yes, another one is to make a habit out of checking whether you're dreaming or not, eventually it will carry over into your dreams, where you will find you are indeed dreaming

Sometimes I have really silly thoughts if I'm thinking a lot while trying to fall asleep. I'll start with something normal like "I hope I do well on that exam tomorrow" and a few mins later I'll think of some nonsense like "Why do apples run sideways?"

Why do they, though?

Answer the man.

I lucid dream pretty often. FLYING IS SO MUCH FUN.

I've only had Sleep paralysis twice in my life; Once when I was a kid, I woke up around the time I needed to get ready for school but couldn't move. My mom was yelling at me to get up. The second time was maybe 8 months ago. Feels crazy, enough to give you a panic attack.

I've never experienced sleep paralysis, nor have I to my knowledge ever been able to have a lucid dream. My dreams can get pretty interesting though. 95% of the time they relate in some small way to many things that happened in the past 24 hours. One day at the end of last July I had played Four Swords Adventures and Alien Swarm and I think went to a department store. That night I had a really weird dream that, if I recall correctly, left me depressed for like two days, but I remember being in the shower the next morning and putting all the pieces together. It's like "Oh, and THAT part must have been because I was in Wal-Mart yesterday..." Gets kinda neat, like a puzzle.

I've never been able to influence my dreams, though. Even when I suddenly realize I'm dreaming, I'm like "I bet I'll turn around this corner and see [object]!" And then I turn the corner and it's something completely different, so different that I honestly go "Man, I couldn't think this up even if I was awake. My subconscious is awesome sometimes."

About ten years ago I was dreaming that I was at some picnic. On a vast, strange, grassy and really hilly landscape were like 80 or so members of my friends and family, all happily chattering away to others. About 30 seconds into the dream I looked around, stood up and exclaimed "FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT THIS IS A DREAM!" All 80 of them went silent and turned and look at me like I was a moron. I woke up thinking "Welp...not gonna do that again..."

I've been having lucid dreams fairly often lately. If you want to have them then I recommend spending a fair bit of time reading about dreams, lucid dreams in particular - and of course signs that you are dreaming. If you spend a lot of time during your waking life focusing on how to realise you're dreaming, the moment you begin to dream you instantly notice and become lucid.

It really is pretty awesome being able to do absolutely anything you like with no rules or boundaries, but the one negative I've found is that my lucid dreams tend to be quite short - I always wake up quite quickly. Maybe I'll find a way around that though.

I've never been able to lucid dream, though it does sound quite cool. When I was in Pshycology in high school, my teacher talked a bit about lucid dreaming, and meanings of dreams. She had the students write dream journals for a week, in which we had to write down as much as we can remember about that dream. It was a pretty fun part of the class.

I'd say that the majority of my dreams are lucid. That being said, I almost always know when I'm asleep and dreaming, and when I do, the world becomes the most epic "sandbox" game ever, to put it in simpleton's terms. I can do literally anything I want, which includes spawning any entity/object, I can fly, breathe underwater, create just about anything, and force any interaction between entities to conform to a standard I set. It feels like I'm a god.

The few times where I don't have lucid dreams are when I have terrible nightmares, which I still know are dreams, but at the same time, I feel trapped inside of them. They're usually fairly gory and intense, with the exception being the whole "I missed a final exam" sort of dream.

I would say that I experience sleep paralysis and other hypnagogic-related phenomena fairly regularly, with the most frequent one being that right before I fall asleep, it feels like I'm going to fall down a staircase randomly, so I awaken in full alert and throw my arms up in the air to brace for the impending danger, which is, of course, imaginary.

I am a strange sleeper. Perhaps it has something to do with my severe insomnia.

I've never had a lucid dream that I can remember, but my regular dreams can get pretty rad sometimes. I'll go on intercontinental adventures, get captured by Communists and fight my way out gun a-blazing, explore caves and go scuba-diving, etc. I think these awesome dreams have something to do with the fact that I would watch Indiana Jones movies over and over as a kid. That or I just have a super cool subconscious.

That sounds somewhat like a synopsis of the Call of Duty: Black Ops campaign. :P

My sister had the weirdest (semi) lucid dream the other day

She was only half asleep and was dreaming she was at work and had to go get some milk or something, she was aware it was a dream somehow

She told me "I really couldn't be bothered getting that milk so instead I just woke up and took a shower"

It was too much effort, to dream to do something, so she just chose to wake up and actually did something

When i dream something slightly unrealistic, i will question it and get an answer that's a scientific way of say "it is possible because it is".

I've only had like 4 Flying dreams, 2 actually flying, 1 i was swooping up and down. The best i've had was bouncing high and gliding gently to the floor before bouncing again.

I occassionally realise when it's a dream or not, things like:
-Standing on a skyscraper made of wool.
-Committing a murder or other major offence (because i won't be able to do that because of caring for everyday people too much, even some people i dislike i don't like to see get hurt).
-When i'm dreaming in the graphics of a game i've been playing before sleeping
-An 18+ kinda dream ;)
-When i can hear music playing in my dreams

I sometime dream as someone I never met before, and I am not even part of the dream, its like I am someone else completely, and in a different reality with people I never met before interact with me. Kinda weird.

Do you choose to do anything in your life, or is there just an illusion of choice? Maybe everything in our lives are the result of a line of events that preclude only one response. If that is true there is no such thing as a "lucid dream", except that it is a dream where you have a greater illusion of choice. Even if that is not true, lucid dreaming shouldn't be taken too far. I had a friend who became throughly obsessed with lucid dreaming. He thought he could somehow alter reality by controlling lucid dreaming. A very free thinking person, there was some merit to his claims, but he was never able to prove anything. It was all conjecture. That is how I see lucid dreaming: there are too many unvalidated assumptions that have to be made to make lucid dreaming meaningful.

I'm bringing this topic back from the dead, because it "superly" interests me.

Goten wrote:

Flying in my dreams is probably the most fun I've ever had. Going super high, and then swooping down like a roller coaster is amazing. I usually get going pretty high and fast.

One thing that's recently happened though, is that even though I'll be completely aware that I'm dreaming, and can do almost anything I want, there is still that "almost" part.....It's super annoying. I won't be able to do something, and I'll get frustrated in-dream and accidentally wake up. It's like my mind has put some sort of limit on the things it will let me do.

A dream-initiated lucid dream (DILD) starts as a normal dream, and the dreamer eventually concludes it is a dream

i dream nearly every night(cause my nose is plugged and i keep waking up, drifting in and out of deep sleep. or i wake up thirsty). but while in a dream, if its a dream i have had before, i will ALWAYS notice it is something i have dreamed before, and i will start changing things.
the things i change are objects that have a future action associated with it.
eg: while in the second dream, i remember from the first dream that someone will walk into the room in a couple mins, and take an object off a table. i will then act off that memory of the previous dream and take that item, and move it somewhere else. and when the person comes in the room to get it, i watch their reaction and how they go about finding it.

Don't know if people are still talking about this, besides the one who brought this back from the dead. I have wanted to lucid dream for a while now, but never am able to. I never get sleep paralysis, or anything like that.

I do, however, get a lot of strange dreams. Most take place in alternate versions of my town, and if it does, I can usually remember that part, and the differences. Right now, I can recall about 5 different versions.

The dreams always ends right before a climax for me, or when I do something regrettable that I want to do over. Worst feeling ever.

RIP French language.

I've never had a lucid dream, but I'm pretty sure I've had a few pseudo lucid dreams. Dreams where I think i'm lucid dreaming but I don't realise I'm not till I wake up.
