What is something that you know now, that you wish you knew the first day you ever tried one of your favorite activities?

For me, the other day when I was unpacking my snowboard, I was reminded of a lesson learned on the hill.
When I was new on a board, I was a bit nervous at the thought of flying down the hill, unable to steer or stop. This nervousness grew from keeping the board flat on the snow. Eventually i'd pick up speed before one edge of the board would dig into the snow and i'd be flung onto my face. My newly formed habit was pointed out to me by a friend. He said that the proper method was to always be standing on your toes, or resting on your heels. This would result in you always riding on one edge of the board, which would reduce the chance of catching the other edge and feeding yourself some snow. Another benefit is that riding on an edge forces you into one long, slow, turn. Since you're already in a turn, it's easy to adjust the severity of the turn and avoid obstacles.‎‎

Well it would have been nice to know that sex is a pointless Fuzzy Bunny waste of time before I finally got around to trying it sometime around my last year of university. That would have saved me a tremendous amount of insecurities as a young man in the midst of a culture that places a laughably sophomoric emphasis on mashing one's private parts against someone else.

I'm really not a fun man.

American society particularly does emphasize this, and it's problematic. Just like how the story of Brenda tells us in psychology.

Things i wished i knew when i played trading card games competitvely: Bring something to do in between a lot of time in tournaments, and there's a reason why everyone uses as specific card versus one i actually used. I got destroyed in my first tournament.

University was completely and utterly pointless and ruined my mental health. Wish I knew that was going to happen before I went.

He replies that he is going to move the mountain.
"But you will never succeed!" they cry out.
"No, i will never succeed, but somebody has to start."

Runevillage the forum is pretty well much done. Runevillage the group will eventually die, but as long as we're still friends with each other in the end, it's still a pretty big thought in our heads. Runevillage the family is forever, no matter where we settle down. If absolutely nothing else ever comes of Runevillage in the future, that alone is a pretty damn awesome thought.

What, really? Can you explain why?
