A few days ago we had a pretty nutty storm here in the region. We got a couple feet of snow and on top of that it was extremely windy. The drifting snow was unreal. My county declared a state of emergency and closed all roads. It was almost two whole days of that. Everything was closed and I was the dude driving around because it was the only day I had to do stuff...that I didn't even get to accomplish. It was all closed. People on I-94 were literally trapped in their cars for 2 days. The snowstorm slowed and then halted traffic, and the cars were literally buried in drifting snow.

...and then after the snow stopped, the temps dropped to -20 F for like three days.

I went to the beach and took some pics of the massive ice walls piling up. Ill post em when I get on a computer.

damn, at least here we're always prepared for the worst, nothing is EVER shut down here, no matter how bad the weather is. Not every city can be prepared for the horrible weather though, especially when they've never really encountered it before.

Still in high 20s to single digits and we get snowstorms like every other week. Hooray, bipolar Indiana weather!

Well, statistically speaking, slightly more than a giant suckusaur. A dire one.

I'm feelin' your Indiana pain, Riptide. Although in NW Indiana aka The Region, we have had ridiculous lake-effect snow in between and added to those snowstorms. I......can not stand winter. It depresses me. :/

Huh?

Get bundled up. Build igloos, build snow men, snowball fight, tow toboggans behind snow mobiles, ride crazy carpets down hills, build jumps to hit, snowboard, snowmobile, race cars around on the snow and ice, dig tunnel forts in mounds of snow, dig snow into the shape of chairs then make a campfire in the middle of all your new lawn furniture and roast hot dogs. Basically winter rocks your socks off. Also. Set up an obstacle course for cars. Make em dodge mounds of snow on the road :P

Unlike those poor Canadians, there is nothing stopping you from moving south. Winter in the north is an incredibly depressing thing. 6 months where you rarely see the sun, and when you do its because its numbingly cold. Not to mention the incredible hassle of snow buildup. Theres a reason why many more people move in one direction than the other. Its pretty much Stockholm's syndrome going on up there for people in denial about what its like in the winter. Humans were not meant to live in those conditions.

If I were to move, it'd be West. Southern California, specifically. I've got friends there, and I love it there. The plan is to eventually move near my friends (northern burbs of LA). I'm stuck here for at least another couple of years, though...legal issues...

I did some of those things as a kid, Market. Unfortunately, the novelty wears off. And...I live in a city where its hard to do that stuff, now.

I was in San Diego a couple months ago. Wonderful weather and so many things to do. It would be a nice place to go to, just a little crowded.

San Diego is a beautiful place to visit, but not to live. 27 years was all I could handle. I may go back someday to visit family and friends but never will i live in southern California again.

Why wouldn't you want to live there again?

Simply have no desire to. I moved on to Alaska to start a new chapter in my life, closing the chapter down there.

Yesterday warmed up 25 degrees to become -14c (7f)
Friend called me out on my loud mouth.
I accepted the challenge.
Spent all day in shorts and a long sleeve shirt. It was great
