Alright, so next summer/fall I plan on studying abroad in Europe, specifically England, Spain, or the Czech Republic (but I'm open to other suggestions). I have an appointment with someone at the study abroad office here at OSU in the next couple days to talk about programs that fit my major, but from what I can gather England would be my best bet as far as Civil Engineering programs go. The reason Spain is on the list is because I'd like to get fluent in Spanish, and they have some amazing architecture over there, as well as programs that would help further my engineering degree. The reason Czech is on my list is because there was this one super hot Czech girl living at this international house I'm currently staying at who convinced me that all Czechs are super hot and love Americans. :awesome: The only downside to Czech is that none of the programs there offered through our study abroad office have anything to do with engineering.

What do you Eurovillagers think? Are there any specific universities or programs you would recommend? I'm open to any ideas and suggestions at this point, since the applications for summer/fall aren't due until May 15th.

Also, here is the pamphlet they gave me when I initially told them I was interested in studying abroad. If you find something there (or in any of the other programs) that you think would be awesome, please let me know.

Study in London, they've got great football there.

I'm looking for a Scholarship in the US, perhaps we could trade cities? Belgrade ain't so bad, the girls are super hot though. Much like the Czechs.

I'm always sceptical of league tables but this seems reasonable.

http://www.topuniversities.com/universi ... 10/results

If you are coming to England the University of Manchester has 10,000 non-english students so you wouldn't be the only one :)

Spain is a bit crazy but a good experience.

Czech is always good for beer.

The study abroad things tend to be expensive and most of the credit hours won't be directly toward a civil engineering degree. The one I looked at once required that you take classes like English history and European history, and things like that. So if I were you, I'd look into what it would take as far as cost or curriculum requirements.

IF I had to pick one, I'd go with the English ones just cause it'd be easier on me. Otherwise Germany would be a good one for civil engineering cause heck... Autobahn. But again I imagine a lot of it would be again, local history and language classes.

I don't doubt it'd be an interesting experience, just keep in mind that it might delay your graduation date a little.

I'm actually studying abroad in Edinburgh this coming spring. Studying mechanical engineering, taking a full course load that all contributes to my mechanical engineering degree. I did a quick check of their site, if you were to go there in the fall they'd have a ton of civil engineering courses you could take (http://www.ed.ac.uk/studying/visiting-exchange/courses/course_list.php?session=1&area=30). They're not listed on OSU's sight, but I'm sure you could work it out with the study abroad department. I'm basically going over as a transfer student, no real program or anything.

Of course, I can't give much more advice until I'm over there, but if you want, I can definitely let you know more about the experience next year.

As an un-abroad-as-you're-going-to-get here on the village opinion, I'd go for London. It's somewhat central to everything going on in Europe, and you'll be able to actualy speak teh language everyone else is. One guy in my fraternity is in Czechland at the moment, and lvoes it there, but I haven't talked to him recently so I couldn't give you a secondhand opinion there. As for Spain, while you may want to speak the language well, I don't know about going over there to do that, that's just me though.

Stale's sugesstion is also valid, and I know they can do Edinburgh as I've been toying with that idea myself.

It could be a weird, ultra-extended RV meetup! :awesome:

I'd believe that.
I've got a friend at Salford uni who's doing some sort of engineering course, may want to take a look into that. + We need more RVers in the Manchester area.

I would recommend Thunderbird laureate partnership schools which are opening up across Europe. These are pretty known institutes and their collaboration would produce something awesome. This is what I believe.
