Actually we have just as much say as anyone else. You present me with a good candidate and I'll vote. Present me with two terrible choices, I'm not voting. Voting for someone "just to vote" is worse than not voting at all. Voting because it's "cool" when you don't know Fuzzy Bunny

about the candidates, is damn near borderline insane.

As a tax payer (you're welcome to 35% of my earning Obama, Wellfare, anyone that attends public schools, etc), I damn well have a say. Voting, these days, is just to make people feel like they are making a difference.

I hate to be that guy, but what if NO ONE voted?

It's interesting that you say that you have a say because you pay mandated money to the government, not because you voluntarily went out and tried to change the outcome of the election.

I have to agree that many, many people are misinformed about candidates but I don't count myself among them, and neither should you. It makes it all that more important for educated people to vote.

about my country and my future, not because it's 'cool'. Not voting because it's 'cool' is even more stupid.

I want to exercise my small measure of control over the government. If that's only to 'make me feel like I made a difference', then so be it. I thought I was participating in a democracy. :?:

Oh I care, but I'm picking one terrible leader for another. If I could have voted when Clinton was running, I would have voted for him but I wasn't of age. I do faintly recall voting in 2002 or 2004, but I forget which year. A friend of mine was running in a local race so I voted for him for mayor (and he won, thank God).

Otherwise, bunch of liars. At least my friend did what he said he'd do. He's off in Washington DC working for some Senator now.

But whatever. Have fun voting. If it makes you feel better, fantastic. Glad you do, someone has to. But to tell me I don't matter, screw you and bite me. Get off your high horse. I hope you donate half your money to relief funds to "make a difference" as well (not directed at you Lander). We all the right to vote just as much as we have the right not to vote. It's called freedom, learn it.

And Obama's election is doing wonders for the economy already. Gun sales are sky rocketing! A+ job sir.

I don't donate to charity often because I don't have a lot of expendable income, but when I do I donate locally and in the US. I donate to the Relay for Life and the Children's Miracle Network, sometimes to Goodwill and the Salvation Army (in the form of stuff and cash), and the Humane Society. Even though that wasn't aimed at me. I know many people donate because it makes them feel good, because they feel they made a difference...I donate so I can wear jeans at work and do some good besides, I sponsor animals so they can get the treatment they need, I donate to the thrift shops because some people shop there out of necessity. I'm trying to help as best I can. Just trying to do my part.

I wouldn't donate to foreign countries while ours has so many issues. Haiti? Fuzzy Bunny

As it stands, when it comes to elections, people have four approaches to two options.
Option one, vote for someone to go into the position. However, there are two approaches to why you would vote. You believe someone could do good when put in the seat of power, or you simply want to elect "the lesser of ___ evils" in order to avoid other, worse candidates taking office.
Option two, do not vote. One reason for doing this is lack of satisfaction with any given candidate. If they do not fit your interest, then they do not have your support, and you damn well do get to complain that nobody is willing to step up to the plate who fits your ideals.
The only people who don't have much right to complain are the 'fourth' approach, the people that genuinely say "I don't care who wins or not" and don't vote because of it. Those are far and few between, however.

In the end the voters still don't matter as much as you make them out to, since presidents neither are elected by popular vote nor follow the wishes of the public once elected.
