Friday Carron and i decided to go to Banff for the weekend.
I have never done one of these weekend get away things before. I found that i enjoyed it quite a bit.

We left late Saturday morning. Arrived in the early afternoon. Drove around looking for a hotel room. Booked one.
Parked the car. Walked up and down the main street and looked at all the stores. Noticed there were about two
shops on each block that sold skis and snowboards, several stores that sold home made/hand carved goods,
a ton of touristy junk that sold the typical moose or beaver crap, a couple stores selling minerals and precious
gems that are common to the area, and many pubs and restaurants.

Everything in the town has to have a log cabin/mountainy feel to it. So all the stores had wooden signs out front,
and had log beams along the frame. It was really neat!

We had supper. Drove out of town about 10 mins, and followed the road up the side of the valley to the hot
springs. The water was 39(102) degrees, which made it nice for relaxing :) as the temperature outside the water
was 4(40) degrees. We soaked while the sun fell behind the mountains. Then headed back to town for the night.

On Sunday morning we headed back up the road toward the hot springs, but took a different turn near the end of
the road. This turn led us to the gondola. We took a 10 min ride up the side of the mountain. When we got to the
top, we were at 2281m (7496 ft) elevation.

Part way up the ride, the camera came out.

Banff is a beautiful place. I went there with my dad for a week then a day in Yoho, I believe, but we still go to see quite a lot. It was really cool.

It took me a confusion-filled moment to realise that you weren't talking about the Banff in Scotland.
