I know this is asking quite a bit, but how hard would it be to make a RV mobile page?

When I think of one, I think of a generic one that shows big block rectangles of the Forum Classifications, then branches to each sub-topic, then onto that each thread.
I'm quite dumb when it comes to any type of mobile code (I don't even know what it'd be scripted in. I don't know if there's a special html for mobile pages or what.)

Just a thought.

Well, I suppose it'll be another future goal. It's actually not that hard to navigate the forums on my phone, so I'm not too worried about it.

It sucks seeing that all of the html classes I've taken in college so far haven't even touched on mobile web scripting, even though mobile EVERYTHING has become so popular.

It's not hard, but it would be nice to get rid of some unnecessary information, like the overly long forum descriptions, they just make the page huge on a small screen, also I don't really care about the total number of posts and topics in a forum, and removing those things would make the forums a lot more friendly to small screens

Perhaps a secondary setting of the amount of posts per topic would be nice, as I've currently got it set to 40, but that's a bit much for a mobile device, I'd like it to load a bit faster when browsing on there

I'd like to see this myself. Browsing RV on my phone isn't all *too* hard, but it's a bit more messy than I would like. Also, being limited to 25 MB/month on my phone, having less images displaying (such as avatars and signatures) would be a lifesaver.

If Jackstick and Henner would be willing to pick this project up again, I'd try to help out as well.


The main thing with RV 2.0 right now is coding. Those of us who worked on RV 1.3 and The Pub 2.0 aren't involved with the coding of RV 2.0 (aside from Glode), so if we're the ones working on it then it won't take away from what's being done with RV 2.0 currently (aside from whatever help we may need to get from Glode).

But again, that's only if the others would be willing to work on it.

What would need to be done, Goten? I don't know any coding, but I could possibly help out, depending on what it entailed.

I have no idea. I figured Henner and Jack might be able to tell me.

I don't know much coding either, but I figure I can lend input/maybe images if they need it.

I think that it'll already do a lot if I'd look out for a template that is designed to look good on mobile phones. I'm not really a fan of tapatalk because it requires me to change around a lot should phpBB get updated in any of the areas used by tapatalk. Upgrades are already a pain as it is, so it's something I can miss.
