As it is, if you want to link directly to a specific post on a topic, you have to take two different URLs and splice them together. Example
1. The topic's URL.
http://www.runevillage.com/ThePub/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=425597&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=60
2. The URL to quote or edit the post you want to link to.
http://www.runevillage.com/ThePub/posting.php?mode=quote&f=16&p=3490786
Now you can take unnecessary factors out of the first URL
http://www.runevillage.com/ThePub/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=425597
(f and t are also unnecessary, but they're left there anyway)
take the important part from the second URL
&p=3490786
http://www.runevillage.com/ThePub/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=425597&p=3490786
And then finally you need to add a little magic to make the browser scroll down to the right post.
http://www.runevillage.com/ThePub/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=425597&p=3490786#p3490786

What was the point of telling you that? Simple, lads. My suggestion is that the "topic" above each post be made into a link to that post.
As seen here, except perhaps bold to make it stand out more:
Image

Also, though it'd be significantly harder, something awesome would be some way to increase the brevity of these URLs.
For example:
http://www.runevillage.com/ThePub/link.php?p=3490786

Would redirect you to that specific post, in the default forum. This shortens the linking URL significantly by removing a total of:
topicf=16&t=425597&#p3490786
That many.
Of course, that one's a toughie, I can't expect it to be implemented but I can sure hope. ;)

I have to admit, I'm a little confused as to what you mean.

But I think you are talking about being able to link to a specific post within a topic, without having to manually change the URL, right?

In that case,

Is your solution.

Wow, that is a TINY button with no clear use unless you know what it's for already. Maybe I should change my suggestion to "make that button easier to find and figure out what it's for".
Thank you for pointing that out though ^_^

Wow, I didn't notice that either.

I do like the suggestion though, Boa. I believe it's already done when searching, I can't imagine it's too hard to implement it into a topic. (But I may be wrong.)

Oh my, even I didn't know it was there :o

It does have another use though: it shows you which posts you've already read (white) and which you haven't (orange).

I noticed it, but I didn't know you could click it, or what it was for either. So yes, Gamestar is a noob.

Yea. So did I.

It's a standard feature since phpBB 2... Every phpBB based board has one of those nifty things.

Umm. I might have missed the point, but you can just get the url of the topic:

http://www.runevillage.com/ThePub/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=427017

then add

&start=[post number]

IE.

http://www.runevillage.com/ThePub/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=427017&start=5

Which links to Glode's post.

*that* I knew. But that you could immediately get the link to that specific post from that link, I didn't know :)

I never actually realized that little icon was actually a link to that post. :-s I always just thought its only function was to mark "read and "unread".
