I saw this on another forum and actually liked it:

"happy", "sad", "bored", "motivated", "scared", "depressed", "shocked"
maybe each could have a small smiler next to it.
This might be displayed on the message side then.

This is obviously not a really needed update, but what matters is your opinions!!
So... what do you think about this?

Remember, MODs slow down the forum slightly. So the ones that are added should be more practical than simply recreational.

It wouldn't be a bad idea in the fact that it wouldn't be abused or anything, it's just slightly unneeded.

it wouldn't matter a whole lot, it'd be an extra field to get from the database, but that won't take much longer than a split second, and the extra calculating would take even less, I don't think anyone would notice this, it wouldn't slow page loading by more than a second, if it would even be a second

We've been turning a lot of suggestions down because we're apparently swamped with other mods to take care of, yet it seems as though those will never happen.

And even if they do, what is stopping us from doing something small like this? It's not like we can't possibly work on something else for a day.

Would be great if you commented on the idea, as I am aware of the fact that the other MODs are more important. I just want to know if people would like to have something like this. I think myspace has this too and I remember liking it the first time it came out.

It would be an interesting addition, but I still think it's slightly unneeded. I'm doubtful that many people would update/use it. For me at least, my mood would stays the same for the majority of the day, I can't picture myself updating it.

Oki. Yeah, I think it's a good idea. And don't get me wrong, I would love to see it added:) But I just think we should get others out of the way first. But yeh. Good idea!

On-topic, what exactly is the difference between a MOD to display things in your profile or a few smileys in your posts that do not change when you edit your profile? I think the latter is better and less stressing on the server.

The latter is provided by default in phpBB3, while for the other we have to change the code. Normally speaking the efficiency shouldn't be that much of a difference, but it's always best not to change too much to the basic code of phpBB3 since that could cause us to run into troubles when upgrading the forum if a new version appears.

MODs shouldn't be shot down because they're not of dire, lifesaving importance. The Custom Title MOD was a fun feature that we always had, and probably 95% of Villagers used.

You're right though, it's not deathly important, it just would be nice to have back.

Timezone would also be nice.
Nice, not particularly immediately though.

And, like RSC has, a "clan" section would be nice also.

Seems like half of the people don't read my posts and still compare this with other MODs, although I clearly said I wanted comments about the idea ignoring the current situation in the forum.

I just had another idea that fits with this one.

Many people have temporary leaves once in a while. They usually write those in their signature field and link it to their temporary-leave-topic in the Lumbridge lounge category. I think the Mood Info thing I suggested in this topic could also support that and maybe also link to a site where you talk about it in more detail. Like for example, if I was on vacation I could write that in their and it would be displayed on the mood field of my account.

Although many people haven't liked the idea, I still think it's worth building up my argument.
