A small addition has been brought to my attention:

We need to add in the fact that after using the jangerberries with the guard, you must continue with the dialogue, until you are given the option to enter the cave.

Can you give me the exact fragment of text that should be changed? I can't find the part where you have to use Jangerberries with guards... I can only find nightshade that must be used with a guard (or I must've overlooked it)

It is the nightshade to be used with the guards. That is a mistake by Halley.

However - it does need to be made clear, that; you MUST follow the whole dialogue and select the option 'Yes' to enter the cave if that happens to be your desire :-s

actually, you don't need nightshade at all, you can just say "I want to go in there!" or something along those lines, the guard will think about it and while he's thinking you run past.
