1- Introduction

Pyramid Plunder is the best thieving xp in the game period. No matter what level you are above 21 it is the best. Deep in the desert lies this pyramid with urns and chests filled with treasure and its your job to loot this pyramid and become a master thief. I myself have gotten around 12m xp here for 99 and in a very short time and I fully recommend it.

2- Requirements

To do pyramid plunder you need to have
* Started the quest "Itchlarin's Little Helper"
* Have Level 21 Thieving
* Large amount of monkfish and super anti potions

3- Location and Directions

Getting to the pyramid itself can be a hassle at first but after a while it becomes easy. There are 3 Methods of getting there. The pyamid itself is located in Sophanem which is deep in the desert.

Method 1

1- Go to the shantay pass and bring around 400 gp and take the carpet to Pollniveach. Image
2- Walk down to the other carpet and take it to Nardah.
Image
3- Once at Nardah go to the bank and gear up.
Image
4- From Nardah run in the path towards the spot marked in the red circle. The rock you need to go through is located there.
Image
5- Enter the rock
Image
6- You climb out of this hole after you enter the rock. Do not climb back through it, instead head west after you are out.
Image
7- Pyramid is in the northwest part of Sophanem. Image
8- To start the minigame you need to speak to the mummy. There are 4 doors. He can be located in any one of the four doors, it is random. Image
9- Keep going into each door until you find the mummy.
Image
If it is your first time going here speak to him normally, otherwise use this option
Image

Method 2

1- For this method you need your house to be at pollniveach. Teleport to your house and walk outside.
2- Follow steps 2-9 of method 1

Method 3

1- For this method you need to have a pharaohs sceptre (explained in rewards). Use it's teleport option and pick "Jalsavrah" Teleports you straight to the mummy. Fastest method of getting to mummy.

ImageImage

4- Equipment and Inventory

To do pyramid plunder you do not require any weapons to get thieving xp. You will encounter scarabs and mummies (only if you or someone else opens a sarchopagus) DO NOT take a defender as it makes you lag when scarabs attack. When scarabs attack best to just flip on pray melee instead of killing them which is a waste of time. Do not use sharks as it is unnecessary and a waste of cash.

Image

*Notes. The weapon is the pharaohs sceptre. If you do not have one then you can subsititute for it a whip and zammy book. For the super energy pot you may replace it with an extra monkfish. Any cape will work. The less weight the better.

5- The Minigame

1- To start off ,speak to the mumy. He takes you to the 1st room.
2- Every room has a spear trap. Just click on it to disarm it and it will let you in. Image
3- Each room has a grand gold chest, a sarcophagus and a lot of urns. Search the grand gold chest in all rooms unless you are lvl 81+ and have a pharaohs sceptre. Then you should search the chests in only room 6 and up. NEVER search the sarcophagus. Image
4- Each room has 5 doors. 4 take you to the next level and one lets you leave the pyramid. Never click the leave pyramid door unless you must. Just like the 4 doors to let you in the pyramid itself, the door that leads you to the next level is random. Search all 4 doors til you get into the next level. Image
5- Repeat steps 2-4 until you reach the 2nd highest room your level will allow you to reach. For example if you are level 71 Thieving, your highest room is 6 and 2nd highest lvl room is 5. So when you get up to room 5 stop repeating steps 2-4 for each room and do the following. Disarm the speartrap, then loot as many urns as you can until your timer gets to this point. If you fail on an urn twice here just leave it and move to next urn. If you have time later on come back to it. Image
6- Once the timer gets to that point^, loot the chest and start searching for the right door. Once you are in the best room staring looting ALL the urns. The best xp every run is always in this room.
Image
7-Once this room is finished you are transported outside the pyramid. Repeat step 1-6 after this continously until you need to bank for more supplies.

6- Rewards

The main reward of pyramid plunder is definitely the massive experience but you also have several items. The most prominent drop is the pharaohs sceptre which is easily in the million-2million range now. You can only get this from the grand gold chest and the sarcophagus but I got all four of mine from the gold chests. Sarcophagus do not give any experience and most of the time lets loose a mummy which is why I advise you not to do it. The sceptre can teleport to 3 places.
- Jalsavrah (Pyamid plunder)
- Jaleustrophos (Agility pyramid)
- Jaldroacht (Ancient Magicks Pyramid)
You can teleport 3 times with it before it needs to be recharged. You recharge it using the other drops from Pyramid Plunder.
Whenever you loot an urn you get a pottery, stone or gold item. Either a seal, scarab or statuette. You can trade any 18 pottery, 12 stone, or 6 gold pieces to recharge the sceptre. They cannot be noted. To recharge you speak to the mummy normally.

Image
The pottery, stone, and gold pieces can be sold to the archaeologist at the agility pyramid for a chap price. Gold pieces are around 1k per. I just save them to recharge my sceptre whenever its needed. He also buys the sceptre, DO NOT sell it to him.

7- Sceptre Tricks
The best experience for Pyramid Plunder can only be gained with a pharaohs sceptre. I suggest buying one til you get one as a drop. Once you do sell it. It saves a lot of time.
-*Best for level 81+*
The sceptre is essential to the best xp possible. It is the most fastest in getting you to the mummy and that fact can be exploited to gain the best experience. Once you teleport to the mummy you have 2 charges left. Even if you have to waste some food during this run, try and get at least 3 gold pieces during this run. Now instead of running around the 4 doors searching, just teleport again to the mummy and you should have 1 charge left. This saves time and energy. This run get another 3 gold pieces even if you have to waste some food. Grand gold chests in room 6+ always drop gold items. Room 4 and 5 it is occasionaly gold items. Now after this run is finished teleport once again to the mummy and all your charges should be finished. But now you have 6 gold pieces so you can recharge it.

- Besides thieving the sceptre is most useful for the fastest teleport to the Ancient Magicks temple. It teleports you to the top of the pyramid so all you have to do is run down and switch. This tele is also easy access to bandits and dust devils.

8- Credits

This guide was written by Shivan Hydra. Please do not use it on any other sites without my permission and without giving me due credit. All pictures were taken by myself. If you have any questions post away. Happy thieving.

!!!Prayer Potion Saving Method!!!

Okay, so as we all know prayer potions are getting pricey now a’ days. They went from 6k to 7k to 7.5k and even 8k in less than a couple weeks!

NO WAY I’M PAYING 2K MORE PER POT TO DO BARROWS!!!

I’m sure you all agree. For this reason I’ve come up with a way to effectively do Barrows without having to use more than a few pots per couple searches! (Of course I didn’t come up with it all on my own; I used pieces of other methods combined with a few friends’ input (especially Boa’s of who came up with the basic outline for how this method works) to make a great way of doing the Barrows without burning a hole in your wallet!)

Well, I know what you’re thinking, on with it already!!

Okay, the trick is to only use prayer on three of the brothers. Simple, right? No, you’re probably thinking “Is he crazy!? Even if you’re only fighting three of the brothers without prayer you’d still get owned faster than you can say ‘Free items pl0x!’”

Here’s how it works;

Use prayer on Dharok, Verac and Karil. These are the three that can kill you with ease. Dharok with his mind blowing (well, more like mind crushing) high hits, Verac with the ability to ignore your def bonuses, and Karil… well… because… Jagex had to try making ranging look good for once.

As for Guthan, Torag and Ahrim – Take ‘em down with your natural def and some good food! There’s nothing to it!

Okay, so I’m being a bit vague, and seeing as this is a GUIDE to the Barrows I suppose I should GUIDE you on how to do it.

First off, you’ll want a certain arrangement of items in your inventory. This is what I recommend:

Image

INVENTORY:
-Runes (Magic Dart is ABOVE RECOMMENDED. You pretty much NEED to use magic dart for this method to work as it’s the only spell which magic bonuses don’t apply to how much you hit.)
-Ectophial (Easier to get back to Canifis when you need to bank and head back.)
-Spade (You won’t get far without one of these!)
-Elvin Teleport Crystal (1), (2), or (3) (It’s an easy way to recharge prayer before banking and only takes up a single inventory space)
-Melee Weapon (I’d suggest a whip. If you don’t have one bring a DDS or Dragon Scimitar, but I’d really recommend a whip.)
-Shield (This is optional, but it gives you better defense for fighting Guthan, Torag, and the NPCs in the catacombs. I’d suggest having one; Either an obby shield, a rune kite, a dragon sq or even a crystal shield would work.)
-Bow (Best for fighting Ahrim with)
-Ranging Armor (You won’t be hitting much if you’re ranging in melee armor!)
-Prayer Pots (This is the fun part because you only need to bring a few!)
-Food (I’d recommend Swordfish or better for this, but nothing below. I’d say Monkfish are your best bet because they’re cheap, easy to get, and heal 16 hp ea.)
---Try to keep a couple spaces open, you’ll end up needing them while switching gear---

EQUIPPED:
-Melee Armor (I’d recommend Rune or above, but I’d REALLY suggest either Veracs or Guthans. With Veracs you’d have a prayer bonus and with Guthans (if you have the spear with you as well) you can heal up in the Catacombs to save food.)
-Amulet (Any amulet with bonuses would be better than nothing, even a defense amulet, but I’d recommend a glory or even a fury if you’re confident in your skills at the Barrows.)
-Boots (Armored boots, recommended rune, or ranger boots. Even climbing boots or white boots would be useful, just any boots that would give helpful bonuses)
-Gloves (Any gloves that give good bonuses; Klanks Gaunts or the Family Crest Gaunts would be fine, but I’d recommend the best RFD gloves you can use.)
-RING OF LIFE (You NEVER know when you could lag or lose connection, and because the ring of wealth is confirmed to have no effect on the outcome of your search you might as well have one JUST IN CASE. If you’re REALLY confident in your connection and your skills at the Barrows you could bring a Fremmy ring, but I’d highly suggest always using a ring of life at the Barrows.)
-Cape (Might as well have one, any cape gives def bonuses besides the mourner’s cloak. I’d suggest a god cape, a legends cape, an obby cape or even a bone sack if you don’t have any of the others. If you own a fire cape I’d think twice before bringing it, you never know what could happen, you’ll have to make the decision based on how much you trust your skills at the Barrows.)
-Arrows (Having a bow does no good without arrows! addy or rune arrows are recommended, and a crystal bow would work fine meaning you wouldn’t need arrows.)
-Staff (Again, I’d recommend using Magic Dart, so the Slayer’s Staff is a must.)
-God Book (Very useful due to the prayer bonus. Highly recommended for that fact alone.)

Now that you’re properly prepared, let’s move on to the order you should take on the brothers.

First up, Dharok
Image
Take him out first so you’ll be sure to make it through the fight without running out of prayer.

Second, Verac
Image
Use your remaining prayer to take out Verac. Drink a dose of p pot if needed.

Third, Karil
Image
Switch your staff with that weapon of yours and make quick work of Karil! Drink a dose of p pot if needed.

Fourth, Guthan
Image
Use up any remaining prayer you have on Guthan, then once you run out switch your prayer book with your shield and watch the fight. He can hit high, but doesn’t tend to hit often, but heal when needed.

Fifth, Torag
Image
No prayer at all here! Torag probably hits the least out of the six brothers, but can still be a threat if you’re not healing properly when you DO get hit. Just be smart while fighting.

Sixth, Ahrim
Image
You have to save the best for last! Ahrim will hit the most out of the three you don’t use prayer on, but if you heal as needed he won’t be a threat. You should only use two or three pieces of food fighting him on average, thanks to your ranging gear. Remember; Karils armor has a better magic def than black dragonhide!

That’s just the order you visit each brother in. One will be your tunnel, of course, so act accordingly.

-If Dharok’s your tunnel go straight to Verac.
-If Verac’s your tunnel head over to Karil once you kill Dharok.
-After killing Dharok and Verac, wait to drink that prayer pot, because Karil could be your tunnel! You don’t want to waste prayer potions, now do you?
-If Guthan’s your tunnal move on to Torag.
-If Torag’s your tunnel move on to Ahrim.
-You should check for Ahrim last, so if you killed 5 brothers before going to Ahrim you know who your tunnel will be!

Once you get into the catacombs, if you have your Guthans with you, heal up on NPCs if needed before heading for the chest. If you don’t have Guthans with you be sure to have most of your hp restored. Now just go to the chest and kill the final brother!

Before searching you may want to get your KC (kill count) up. Most people get the ‘lucky’ KC, which is a KC of 14.
Image

Now’s the time when you search the chest of the powerful Barrows Brothers and see what rewards you’ve earned! With a bit of luck you may find yourself with an ancient and powerful piece of equipment of one of the brothers!

Image

Now, make you way out and smell that not-so-fresh graveyard air. Ready to do it again?

I hope this has been helpful! :D

The Barrows Prayer Method:

Guide by: Andreka0

Hi all, It's me (that strange lad from the forum). Now what's all this guide talk about you say? Well simply, when I tried guides of barrows, they usually have expensive armour, weapons, food and tactics. For the less rich of us members, and ones with less experience I thought I'd create a guide unlike any other barrow guide this is (this is my first guide so bear with it). I also think that it might be useful at this particular time, with the barrows event coming up on Friday (or whatever times it is for different places). So without further babbling here it is:

What to bring:

The simple idea is that you need to up your prayer to the max, and not worry about lugging lots of food and heavy armour. I have comprised to contrasting suits used to show a lower level, and higher lvl suit. Both can be varied and adapted like so:

The suits:

ImageImage

The first suit has a nice magic AND prayer bonus. Making it ideal for the barrows. The second with the proselyte/initiate is also similair for prayer, but due to its lack of magic bonus, it tends to make you splash and do less damage. Whilst vestemant robes are great for the job, they are expensive so don't go out of your way to buy them unless you want to realy earn some cash from barrows.

These can all vary, and these are some alternatives (prayer is needed more than defense though):

Helm: Initiate, Farseer, Berserker, Warrior, Helm of nitiznot.
Torso: Initiate, Robes (zamorak, druid, monk etc).
Legs: Initiate, Robes.
Boots: Armoured (Bronze-Rune), White Knight, Climbing.
Gloves: Armoured (bronze-Barrow), Gauntlets (from Family Crest), White Knight, Klanks Gauntlets.
Ring: Wealth, Life, Recoil, Lunar, freminik.
Amulet: Glory, Fury, Magic, Defense, Strength, Lunar, Holy/Unholy, Salve .
Cape: Skill cape, Obsidian, God cape, Legends, Bone bag.
Quiver: Mithril-Rune, Bolt racks, Bolts.
Weapon: Battle/Mystic staff, Crozier, Ahrim staff, Iban, God staff.
Sheild: Elemental, Defender, Kite sheild, Square sheild.

Inventory:

Both are still varied, and can be broken down, mixed around and altered. It consist of the food you'll need, extra armour, potions and other gizmo's to help you on your journey (The wrench is highly suggested, as it extends your prayer consumption). Have a look:

ImageImage

Alternatives:

Food: Sharks, Lobsters, swordfish, monkfish, salmon, trout etc.
Potions: 2-4 prayer potions (extras to be safe), super sets, normal sets.
Ranged gear: Dragonhide (green-black), magic short bow, magic composite bow, seercull bow, yew bow (and below).
Melee gear: Rune armour (maybe adamant), granite armour, warrior or berserker helmets, dragon longsword, scimitar, or a (++) dagger, abyysal whip.
Teleportation method: Ectophial, Elf crystal, house teleports.

Now that you know the equipment needed, it's time to learn about how it works. My suggestion is that you ready a teleport to house tablet, use it, use your alter (if you have one), and use a kharyll (canifis) portal to get straight to the bar, and also the bank to re-stock your items. Pictures are below: (If you need to know routes etc, please check the main barrows guide for details).
ImageImage

The Big Bad Brothers:

This section goes into detail of how to kill and attack the 6 brothers in order of when they should be defeated.

Verac: He is out of the six, the most lethal as your prayer won't work 100% on him. To kill him, I suggest you do it at full prayer, and then you can concentrate on healing, and not constantly checking your prayer. Get your spell ready, and use the special move on excalibur (to boost your defence). Now, simply mage him, and do not heal unless you are at critical health (20 or so). The reason for being so reckless, is Verac can only do a max of 15 on his attacks. Therefore, you can heal outside his crypt instead of waste prayer-drain time inside it. This is also why I break my food up into different types, sharks for emergencies, and lobsters for when i need a boost.

Image

Dharok: Though he is not lethal with prayer on, he is resiliant. Sometimes he will do a trick where his health hangs on by a small amount, and can trick you into removing your prayer. DO NOT turn off your prayer until he lies dead, and you are out of the crypt. Maging him is easy and efficient (takes around 10 slayer darts for me), and shouldn't take off much of your prayer but check it incase.

Image

Guthan: You may think "with piddly robes like those vestaments Andreka, he'll just keep healing. Well I found something very interesting. With my new method, Guthan has NEVER AT ALL healed, and makes himself a very easy target. Maging him is yet again the best, and without his healing, he's a gonner (your prayer should run out near here, so be ready).

Image

Kharil: A little different from the others, and even though he has a lower combat level, his attacks are some of the best. Use your ranged protect, draw out your melee weapon, drink a super/normal attack potion and give him hell (the dd ++'s specials are very effective).

Image

Torag: He's slow, he's heavy, he's inaccurate, he's no idiot. Don't try to be a hero in your robes and turn off your protection prayers. Yes he's one of the worst fighters of the brothers, but he'll still say differently if you give him the chance. Mage him and move on.

Image

Ahrim: He's the Big Bro, and the only magic weilder in town. His spells are pretty accurate, as well as powerfull. So prep with your dragonhide and bow and shoot him into submision. (Try to take him out last because of his strength draining special).

Image

The Grand Finale:

This is the bit where your effort pays out. You'll have to rack up our kill count to get some shiny prizes (such as increments of 400's of minds, 150's of deaths, 250's of chaos or even 100's of blood runes all depending on your kill count and ewhat you kill(details of prizes can be found on Rarius' experimental barrows runs)), and also make it to the maze . However one of the brothers has done a runner, and is content on protecting that large chest with his life (again). So, use process of elimination to figure out who it is. You'll find their tomb and upon clicking it, it will ask you to enter, or ignore the lower levels. Kill the remaining brothers THEN enter. If you do it properly, you should get to the centre with minimul problems. Use your prayer, and run to the center (keep topping it up), until you get there, or you run into the fiesty undead opponent. Kill him in the explained methods, and make your way to the chest.
Your kill count may not seem important, but if you can balance your kills each go, you can earn all the required runes for slayer dart. This is why it's the most usefull spell to use, as it's renewable. The armour you should be carrying in your inventory is now ready for use. Put it on and kill some monsters and then go to the chest. I reccomend using a ring of wealth as it seems to help for me, and it's worth the effort (bring a ring of life when you're trying this out untill you can do it with experience).

ImageImage

And there we have it, my method of barrows. If you do it as well as me, you can use up 1 prayer potion, and about 4 pieces of food a turn. Not bad eh? With the runes you get you can therefore easily pay for what you've used and earn a tidy sum for future endeavors.
