I agree with a lot that has been said, and especially on what has been said about the guides.

Yeah, because we need a gold badge to define how we are as a village.

I see this as a great chance for a lot of good things. I especially like the idea brought up about organizing teams for various online games. At this point, that kind of representation in other games would be a fantastic way to build more cohesion amongst users.

Guides to quests and missions in other games would be great.

I can't say I disagree with Jagex not supporting this site. Think about it from a legal standpoint. Even if Hiker isn't an admin, if he is allowed to be on here at all, given his past, there is still a risk and they as a company cannot take the risk. Hell, even if he was banned there would still be a chance he could be on here with a different name or whatever. Before people go ballistic, I'm not saying he would do that or has done anything wrong since starting RV but you have to look at the situation from both sides and try to see Jagex's point. Sure, they shouldn't have said that they would support RV if he was gone but maybe that was a rash statement before they thought it through (or consulted their legal department). I feel they have only done what they think they need to in order to protect the kids that play their game and to protect themselves. Honestly, I'm not very comfortable if Hiker still here either, admin or not.

Anyway, I do agree that you guys don't really need their support. It hasn't really helped much to bring new people here or rather make them stay here. You need more than a gold rating from them to do that. Good luck with everything in the future.

Yea... World1 Lumbridge...
Jagex has bigger things to deal with than our fansite..
If they really want to "protect kids" they should hire a full time moderator that deals with high populated worlds.

Create a female character that looks cute enough, you'll find plenty of people who want your phone number...
Runevillage shouldn't be on their list of priorities to "protect kids" from.

I've played RS coming up on TEN years now. I've modded on it since 04 and I've probably
seen all the levels of depravity and crap you can imagine in the game.
And hey they do change their minds on things.... THE FREE TRADE BOT UPDATE FOR EXAMPLE.

So maybe there's hope that RV will get some support again some day.

There really is no reason now that Hiker could not remain here, he was leaving in the hopes that it would save runevillage in Jagex's eyes, I don't feel that he should have to lose everything because of something he did a long time ago, he still has friends here.

Those that feel uncomfortable about it, well tough, the fact is you have been using a website owned by a convicted sex offender since you started here and absolutely nothing has changed since then, I'm sure most of us have something in our past we are not proud of, albeit our pasts may not quite be as colourful as Hikers.

I agree with the general consensus of everyone, scrap the focus on the guides because we could never keep up with other sites/rs wiki anywho, lets just enjoy being a community again.

Really aside from a beginners FAQs we really wouldn't need any Minecraft guides. Now a Redstone wiring help topic in the Minecraft Forum would be darn useful.

However, given the resources already present, the best thing would be a topic compiling useful videos/diagrams/world files.

I say we find something that's a viable competitor for Runecrap and support that.

And what you guys know about what Jagex has told us is only a small portion. They lead us on to believe we WERE going to be able to earn our gold badge back, or at least a lesser one if we met all of their conditions. Then, after doing a lot of work on this stuff, they just come out of the blue and basically tell us to F off. So yeah.......business issue or not. They could not have handled this any worse or acted like bigger *insert whatever* than they did.

We did have full intentions of earning back our gold status. But after being nearly trolled by Jagex and their antics, why bother? They obviously do not want us back under ANY circumstances. In the end, I think this is a positive for us anyways. We no longer are bound by THEM as to what we can do with OUR site.

They only support fan sites now because they realized that it is a way of control. Like government programs.

Could we slap a 18+ age join requirement on the account registration and reinstate his admin status?

Not to put too fine a point on it, there'd be nothing problematic in that situation.

Also, if you end up creating a team for one of the popular moba games, I'd be happy to offer my participation, as I have a few years experience with these.
