I really find it hilariously awesome that so many of us just 'grew up' here...
I enjoyed the community, I really found myself here and I would be happy to help.

I found myself through a lot of the people I met here and I would like to give back if I could.
I know I've been pessimistic about the future of this site, but I don't really think that the essence of this place runs in the site itself, but the people. We've always been separated by our forum names, which encapsulate nothing of our personalities.

Facebook makes it a bit more real, which I think is what we need.
We need the reality.
To be honest, I found it hilarious when the "post your picture" threads showed up, because you could see the (usually) man behind the post and it was nothing what you'd expect. Mind you, I was still growing up (a lot of us were, except for all of you old folks.. haha) so of course it was skewed, but I find the outpour of support here awesome.

Nothing in life is temporary, I really believe that.
I think if RV dies, in some way, we will all remember it. It's a legacy that will be a part of those of us who let it, and the people and the community that were created here were really the backbone of a generation. I never really played Runescape much, but I loved the people here.

For anyone who is interested:

I'm a musician, a lover of passion and an aspiring pastry chef.
I'd love to reminisce, or just shoot the Fuzzy Bunny.

One love, guys.
I think you're all wonderful people, and if anyone is ever in Canada (Ontario specifically), get at me.

Always a delightful irony when someone named "Hellfire" putting the image of a demon (much akin to the one in your signature!) with a wide smile and tube of icing in hand to squeeze out onto a big round cake.

God, I love the Internet. Glad to see you check in, bro.

Speaking of "Everyone Read"
Hiker mentioned it earlier in passing, but for those (probably most people) who don't know. I've been writing stories for like... the past several months, most of a year's worth of time now. I had to take a brief... 10ish week break, but soon as I got a computer, I booted up again!

I can't promise it to be a thrilling action story, but I've had fun writing it thus-far.

viewtopic.php?f=118&t=438953
This one is the "prequel" I guess for the other link I've got here. The basic idea is there's a town where things are a little odd at first. It's no secret, the first character quickly finds out she's different than other people. Then gradually she finds out other people have strange abilities and other strange occurrences around town.

There's another one too
viewtopic.php?f=118&t=437834
It's a little longer kind of my first try at writing. It's a long journey and takes place after the events in the first link I posted.

I shoulda plugged this sooner to get that first-page exposure...

I was curious about how this site did over time. I definitely remember the guides falling way behind tip it's and runehq's in 2005 and by 2006, forum posts older than 2 weeks were being purged which probably hurt activity. These trends confirm that the site was declining as early as 2006:

At the start of 2004, rv is the clear winner as the best fansite with the best information and is treated as such:
http://goo.gl/cnpYuI

Removing tip it makes it painfully obvious rv was losing users during the miniclip boom, the biggest increase in players rs has ever seen:
http://goo.gl/JZcVQD

I don't want to lay any blame, it's just interesting to see the story in graph form.

When I first read this Topic Post, my first reaction was:
Image

I've been with RV since 2006 and, I (sadly) fully agree with what is being said. RV needs to be put to rest. I know I haven't been as active in the forums/RS in general, but 90% of the time that I am, I am the only one in the chat or the only registered user browsing the forums. RV has given me (and I'm sure others) something to laugh (not the site, the content), cry (potentially!), and ponder at.

I'll definitely miss this website, as it has helped me so much in the past, and very little in the future, but sometimes, we just have to let go in certain things.

This community has given me so much to think about, and was the first community to recognize my hard work (back when it mattered) and rewarded me for my efforts (which I'll never forget).

I'd like to say: "Thank you RuneVillage for everything you've done."

Thank you once again, and I do hope that we will meet again sometime in the future when, maybe, RV is brought back or a website/community is announced with the recognition that RV has helped them when they were around.

Now I'm sad :'(

On a side note, 850 posts!

I come back here every once in a while and I'm honestly surprised that it still exists. Even more so I'm surprised that I'm still seeing familiar names posting.
