I, too, am in favor of more profanities. I am also in favor of a more creative and proactive filter. For instance, we could have the filter replace all the no-no words with a random Shakespearean counterpart.

An example: "User123 is a huge [lady dog]!" becomes "User123 is a huge knotty-pated pigeon-egg!".

A less restrictive filter seems fine to me.

I'm alright with a more relaxed filter.

I'm definitely down for a more relaxed filter. I'd also like to point out that in a few instances, I've been blocked when trying to say something completely non-offensive.

For example: Fuzzy Bunny in the chain/armor---> assumes I'm making a racial slur towards Chinese people

or sometimes I like to say Stephanie Meyer has Fuzzy Bunny the vampire as we know it, and I'm blocked for saying the naughty form of "person without a father" when I'm really only trying to say that something has been ruined or changed for the worse.

Dick Cheney...nuff said. Just stuff like that, it's a little annoying but probably not worth any change.

I also support Rocky's idea about replacing swear words with complete nonsense. Anything that takes the funny factor of the filter up, I'm for. ;)

If I thought this wouldn't lead to profanities all over the place I'd have 0 issue with this.

It's in most MMOs now and I've honestly never seen an issue with profanity. How is one batch of letters worse than another? Words are words. I've always found it more offensive for someone to call another person dumb that I've ever found someone saying a little 4 letter word that doesn't carry meaning.

Yet there are people that would leave it on because society has pressed into their heads that letter arrangements are cursed objects so if we let profanity go around everywhere they'd see bunnies everywhere.

Let me Fuzzy Bunny tell you that Fuzzy Bunny would be Fuzzy Bunny annoying and I don't want to be the ass that decided their screen could be riddled with Fuzzy Bunny rabbits all over the damn place.

I would like to see D_ick and Fu-k uncensored though. I remember we had a Liar Game thread in the Anime shrine and one of the character's names (Fu-kunaga without the hyphen) was censored and that's not an entirely uncommon thing to see with Japanese names.

Wait, Runevillage is PG-13?

Do admins realize that f*ck is said in PG-13 movies? (Albeit once or twice at the most, but the b-word, d-word, a-word, and h-word are thrown around more generously).

I concur. We must lynch him now for the sake of the metagame, we MUST teach people that they can't go around claiming "anniversary" and expect leniency. Topsummoner.

We're not PG-13, we usually call ourselves a family site.

Greetings,
Glodenox

I do believe in an announcement awhile back, it was clearly stated that RV was moving more towards PG13.

PG-13 is an approximation for what RV is...we allow some things a PG-13 rating mightn't allow, and we don't allow some things that might get onto a PG-13 show. Don't rely on MPAA classifications for what is permitted on RV.

Yeah, but I felt like being consistent with adding -word to the end of everything. :weird:

I'm all for it. Don't mind swearing. And Jerky, I'd be willing to test the RS filter.

The fact that people are pretty much begging for this shows me that they're too immature to be adult about it.

They want it because they're human. Mankind will always want complete freedom. The censor is just another barrier in their eyes.

Less restrictive, depends.

Remove it all together, no.

Do you really need to swear to have a conversation? THAT is childish, not a filter.
