I do agree there's a need for more CC mods. It's being discussed right now. There's so many people I think would make great mods tho, so it's hard to pick

We aren't talking about RS moderators here, we are talking about the lack of people who can moderate the in game chat channel. Currently, we don't have global coverage, so at some times in the day, there will be no users who can sort out any rule-breaking people. Thus, to solve this problem, the current RV Staff will be selected a hand full of users whom they wish to give the lowest rank in the chat (below Legends and Staff). They will also be given a rank at Runevillage, but purely for identification purposes - no powers (ie. that of legends, elders and staff) will be given. Rest assured though, the rank looks pretty tasty!


People do change.

The past shouldn't always be the correct actions to follow, it would be more important if the person was helpful and polite now.

I still see there being absolutely no point in them having a rank on Runevillage for something that is purely ingame.

Some people don't change, not really, I've found if people have screwed up ni the past then they are likely to do it again.

If moderators are being chosen then everyone should get a say in it, not just runevillage staff, they are the same rank as regular users and I don't see why their opinion is any better than regular users.

True but the staff has the benefit of experience from moderating the Rv cc and so they know what to look for, also some members don't even play Runescape so they would be voting for there friends rather than the best candidate for the job. Also if we select them by a vote/poll then some members might make more than one account to vote in the poll.

Exactly the reason why the admin team decide who gets the mod positions etc. In essence, this is exactly the same thing, and should be treated as such.

In rank on the forums, yes they would have a similar rank to normal users, with similar powers (plus one forum to discuss rv lounge matters, but that is beside the point). Some staff don't play runescape either, so why should they get a say in something that doesn't affect them? you'll get bias in whoever you choose to dot he voting, so I feel it would be better overall to let those that are actually in the channel a lot of the time to have a say in it.

Simple solution here:

Create the forum for RV Lounge Moderating (which will be the only new forum that Lounge Mods will be able to view); add all those who are going to be moderating the chat (existing staff) and vote from there.

This way only those who know about Lounge Moderating will get a say.

All people who have powers in RV Lounge (including those who no longer play), will have access to the new forum. This isn't to say that RV Lounge specific mods will have power if they no longer play.

Without leaking too much from the backforums, I can say that most of the Staff who no longer play RS haven't become involved in the topic, recognising that the value of their input would necessarily be limited.

On the matter of normal user nominations, I know that when I have been in RV Lounge I have sounded out the normal users for nominations. Any regular user is free to PM a mod/admin with nominations for the new rank.

As Tweedy has said, normal users are free to make nominations. If you do care to make a nomination, please be sure to do so through PM as Tweedy recommended. (See bold print below.) Just send your nomination to any member of the staff and it will be considered.

On another note, here's a few reasons why the voting shouldn't be open to the public:

• People may use multiple accounts to vote more than once.
• Normal users lack knowledge of nominee's backgrounds, as well as the experience of moderating RVL. This could and would lead to poor voting.
• To avoid popularity contests.
• To avoid hard feelings. Only a handful of nominees will be chosen. For this reason, it's best to keep all nominations, as well as the voting, private.

The staff is very capable of deciding the best users for the job, rest assured.

That said, I think that this topic has run its course - the rank in question is being implemented. All other questions pertaining to this have been settled either here or elsewhere, with the exception of just who is going to have the rank, and we're working on that now. Locked.
