Right now you can only view announcement at the top of each forum or in your user control panel.
If there is a new post the topic icon is red and it becomes blue when there are no new posts.

I think there should be an additional something that reminds you when there are new announcement and not just new replies.
Maybe an additional "Announcement"-link at the right top corner with a little icon that changes when there are new announcements.

My point is that we need a reminder when there are new announcements and not just new replies/posts.

I remember people suggesting that sending a mass PM is more effective than announcing something, that is because PM's actually have reminders at the top right corner and there is no extra step involved.

That would seem like an ok idea to me. Whenever there is a new announcement I always find out like 3 days later. SO it would be kinda nice to have something like that.

A simple email notifier life you have for new PMs would be good enough :)

Runevillage the forum is pretty well much done. Runevillage the group will eventually die, but as long as we're still friends with each other in the end, it's still a pretty big thought in our heads. Runevillage the family is forever, no matter where we settle down. If absolutely nothing else ever comes of Runevillage in the future, that alone is a pretty damn awesome thought.

A new way to notify you upon annoucements? Well, all announcements are made into Global Announcements, meaning that they are shown at the top of EVERY forum. Surely thats enough? :-s

Yeah, but it still isn't that obvious when we have new announcements.
When I'm nactive I only check the topics I posted at and occasionally look at the announcements, but it isn't clear right away, if there are new ones, so I have to read each title. (even the side icons don't help, as they change due to new replies too)

I would suggest moving the Logout(NAME)-link next to the Home-link and creating something similar to # new messages. Perhaps 0 new announcements.

I have seen this on other forums and it was pretty useful to me.

Yes - that combined with the fact that in my opinion, they're quite visible leans me towards voting no. Sorry. :(
