Barbarian Fishing
-If you are looking for a quick, cheap, and fast way to level fishing, this is it! Barbarian fishing is rumored to be one of the fastest ways to level fishing. Shilo Village fly fishing is usually the fastest way to level fishing, but I will be putting that to the test soon. Unlike fly fishing in Shilo or fishing Monkfish, there are no quest requirements! (At least I don't think.) All you need to do, is a brief session of Barbarian Training! If you have not completed this yet, head on over to Runescape's Knowledge Base for more information!

- The Barbarian Training area is located just south of the Barbarian Outpost and Barbarian Assault. The best way to get there, is to take a Games Necklace and use the teleport option to Barbarian Assault and head south near Otto's hut.

By rogueaudrea at 2008-02-12

- What to take with you:
    Games Necklace
    26 Feathers
    Knife
    Barbarian Fishing Rod

- Once you teleport to Barbarian Assault, there is a Deposit Box there. You can deposit the Games necklace or any additional items you have with you that you don't need. Note: There is ONLY a deposit box, no banking. The closest place to bank is at the Grand Tree using the shortcut just west of the fishing areas.
- The Barbarian Fishing Rod is found in Otto's hut by searching the bed.

Requirements:
Completion of Barbarian Training

- When you start off, all that should be in your inventory (for maximum efficiency) is the barbarian fishing rod, 26 feathers, and a knife.
- To begin fishing, click one of the fishing spots.
- Fish a full inventory.
- Once full, use the knife on each of the fish to gut them. This will leave you with roe, caviar, and offcuts. Occasionally you won't be able to salvage anything from the fish.
- Drop the offcuts (these will take priority as bait if in your inventory over roe/caviar).
- The roe/caviar/offcuts count as bait, but since the roe/caviar do not stack, use them first as bait.
- Continue fishing.
- Use up all the roe/caviar, then pick the offcuts back up and use those until your inventory is full of fish again.
- Once again, gut the fish and repeat the process. That is all there is to it! It just takes a little bit of practice, but once you get used to it, the experience can come pretty fast.
Other Methods:

Some people do things slightly different when fishing as well, so I will also put what they recommend here and you can use whichever method you like best. =)
Elanthiel wrote:
Instead of first dropping the offcuts and picking them up later, you can also first use the offcuts to fish with, then drop the leftover offcuts and continue fishing with roe and caviar.

Unless you are saving up on fish offcuts, that is.. But they are so completely useless, I don't recommend doing so.

Pros:
-Fast and cheap method since what you fish will be used as bait, so no need to go and buy feathers (other than the 26 to start).
- Not as many tough requirements/quests needed to get to the location.
- Not only do you get fishing experience, but you get agility and strength experience! You also will get 10 cooking exp for gutting each fish.
- If you are being attacked by something, such as a random, the roe/caviar can be eaten. (I forgot to look to see how much they heal).
- The spots also don't seem to move quite as often as other areas.

Cons:
- No profit since you won't be keeping the fish. This also means that the fish won't be used for combat training.
- Requires a little bit more clicking.

-I started testing this method at level 91 fishing, so the results may be slightly skewed for lower levels. Here are some of my results after a few hours. I will Also be testing other areas around Runescape and comparing them.

1) Barbarian Fishing:

2) Shilo Village Fly Fishing:
Pros: Quick to bank, can use the fish for profit/cooking/training, fast.
Cons: Spots can move a lot to distances far away, you need feathers for bait (not that big of deal though).
Hidden:
Hour One
Fishing Exp: 38,030 Exp

Hour Two
Fishing Exp: 41,500 Exp

Hour Three
Fishing Exp: 41,270 EXP

3) Monkfish:
Pros: Monkfish can be excellent for training/cooking/profit, close to a bank, spots don't move much, quiet.
Cons: Not as fast, need some questing to get here.
Hidden:
Hour One
Fishing Exp: 29,880 Exp

Hour Two
Fishing Exp:33,840 Exp

Hour Three
Fishing Exp: 32,520 Exp

4) Barbarian Village Fly Fishing
Pros: You can bank the fish and use for whatever purpose you see fit.
Cons: I bought 6 glories and had to recharge them all after each hours worth, so if you don't have the money for the glories I don't recommend it. This method I don't think would be too bad for those in F2P if you just run back and forth between Edgeville if you really want to bank the fish.

Hour Three
Fishing Exp: 33,620 Exp

-If you have other areas you would like me to test out, feel free to let me know and I will try to see what I can do. Also, if you do some experiments on your own and want your results to be posted, I can put those up as well! My results are based on experience totals during one hour of training. If you notice any errors or have any additional information, please let me know!

Special Thanks to those quoted in the guide =)

Nice guide Audrea :D !

Saving your pictures as .PNG usually takes away the blurry effect.

Good luck completing it.

I concur. We must lynch him now for the sake of the metagame, we MUST teach people that they can't go around claiming "anniversary" and expect leniency. Topsummoner.

Good guide! I have but a few suggestions:

1)Resave your pics at .png so they aren't as blurry.
2)We cannot use your requirements picture because it was taken from the RS Knowledge Base. Please make a new image or write it in text, thanks.

Alright, wasn't sure if I could do that or not so I figured I'd give it a try. I use a different program then paint usually and the text I added was the part that bugged me. I'll work on those later this week when I get the chance to. Thanks guys!

I rotated between doing that and dropping them. I figured with people practicing it they'd be able to decide which way they liked best with practice and mention it here. I'll probably end up quoting other peoples methods in a section of the guide aswell.

The first two hours I'd fish, gut all the fish, then keep fishing to full inv and drop the offcuts last and I didn't get as much exp (granted I was also getting bugged by people asking how to do the stuff there), but I didn't like doing it that way as much, but I'll put yours up there aswell.

I will probably head to monkfish next because I am low on cash and out of feathers, but I will add that to the list aswell. If you test it out record your experience/hour for about 3 hours and let me know and I can post them.

Maybe your guide can be added as an extension to my already existing Barbarian Training guide?

Did you just cover the training? I would be up for combining the two.

It's been added and updated in! Thanks so much everyone! Keep up the excellent work! For the most part the guide is finished unless anyone sees any additional information or other places they want me to test out. Again, thanks to all those quoted in the guide. :)
