I have just received a private message from p8ntballr199. In the message, he tells way to get free Runescape membership by visiting a website, if you also received this message please do not go to the site or click on the link.

EDIT: Now someone called Jerald is sending messages asking us to help Hiker with donations, but the site address is the same as the other message. It is now a scam for sure, do not click the link on both messages. And someone please global this.

Hello RuneVillagers!

Hiker came up with the idea of using a survey site for receiving money. Hiker’s currently in a slight jam, and is not being able to access a computer, so he asked me to PM as many users as possible. I’ve already PMed Mustangnut to see if I could make a topic about it, and I’m awaiting his reply.

Anyway, this is the link:
Taken out so no one gets scammed.

Go there, register, and $1.25 will automatically be transferred into Hiker’s account. Once Hiker once more gets access to a computer, he will give all the people who have signed up a Donor Rank Image to be seen in their profile.

So, it’s as easy as that to help your Site Administrator, click here, register, and you’ll be credited for helping Hiker, who’s obviously done so much for us. Just think, if one hundred users join, Hiker gets $125 to help him along.

So please, it’s optional, but it would help him greatly. Click here, Register, and be on your way. And post or PM Hiker once he makes the topic.

Thank you so much for your help!
-Friend of Hiker

This is what i got from Jerald.

I got that same message Sno. It seems like a lot of scam emails are going around lately, maybe the admins should consider changing to ability to send out mass emails to sending out emails to only select people. I hope this person is shut down soon.

Mogo has already created a topic about this, but I don't believe any mention of p8ntballr199 was made...

Scan for unwanted stuff on your pc with programs like Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, ... If you haven't got one, install a firewall and antivirus program. Information on how to do so can be found in our Computer Speed & Security Special Report.

If you've had to sign up with an e-mailaddress, I expect they'll be sending you spam... Can't really help you there.

You have not received a virus, as some people have already asked that question and got the answer no. The only thing you can get from a thing like this is a keylogger which logs each key you press... but there have been no reports of anything so... nothing will happen.

The only people that do stuff like this are really bored and/or did it for kicks.

The site is perfectly safe, but it's a referral link and in no way does what the message says. Though it also doesn't do what that guy thinks it does, he reckons he'll get money from it, but the site doesn't actually pay out the money it offers, it's just a trick to earn the site more money tbh.
