Everyone,

Make yourself heard if you want to play another game of mafia, etc

This will be a relatively vanilla game. IE, you might see a rarely used role come up. But we will use our regular accounts, there will be no random mod kills (unless absolutely necessary due to inactivity after multiple prods and requests for replacement), no mafia disguiser, etc.

I am open to discussion if you guys want VANILLA vanilla (doctor, detective, mafia roleblocker) or VANILLA swirl (could include witch, arsonist, janitor, jailkeeper, busdriver, JoaT etc etc)

I'm reaching out to a few old timers on facebook to see if we can get a few more participants. Tell all the old RVers you're in contact with about this game!

I'm hoping to start the game by Friday at the latest, depending on interest.

Cult? God no. I don't think recruitment roles have ever worked out well here on RV.

On RV, "vanilla" has come to mean "common roles that have no modifications made to them."

If "chocolate" means "uncommon roles or modified common roles," (such as Bus Driver, Ninja, or Quack Doctor --- which is probably what Lander means by "swirl")

... then "strawberry" roles would mean "unique roles that feature known mechanics in unanticipated fashion" (such as a reflexive Hider, Camoflauger, or Alien.... these have parallels with Bodyguard, Lawyer/Ninja, and Jailkeeper/Survivor but activate differently)

I'd like a game with a vigilante, haven't had one of those in a while.

Vigilante is a dangerous role to put in a small game. It'd be alright if it was one-shot or there was a Gunsmith instead (visits a person at night to give them a one-use gun)

I didn't necessarily mean this game. Just a general thought but yeah you're probably right game would end very quickly.

That's also dangerous though because then the town gets it in their head that it's alright not to lynch, and then the activity of the game dies.

Vigilante is a very swingy role and should be used with caution in games 12 players or less. Roles like Transporter, Commuter, and Bulletproof can be used to balance the effects of a vigilante.

Imo, a Serial Killer is a more balanced version of the Vigilante (on RV) in games of say, 12 or 13 players, when having 3 Mafia may cause the game to drag but having 4 Mafia could make it too hard for the town to win (again, talking about RV... which has trouble lynching 1 scum much less 4). The SK has a decent odds to hit a Mafia from Night 1, and getting killed doesn't hurt the Town at all unlike a Vig.
