So, I've been trying to cook up an idea for a new rp to hopefully liven this place up. We're doing something a little different that I think is pretty cool. Our own kikori kid is going to act as the antagonist throughout this entire RP, that way the monsters, enemies, etc that we fight aren't all generic meatbags. (Though I'm sure there will be *some* as we all love kicking the crap out of faceless NPCs every now and then.)

Here's the map for a vague outline (it's pretty sizeable): Granted there's only a few towns, but feel free to imagine others, especially in lands not seen on the map.

I have very few rules: If you choose to be a magic user, it has to match your personality type. IE, blue magic=a calm, collected sort of person. Clarification is available if you have questions.

This is a medieval fantasy-type setting, so if you want robots or guns or anything they have to be quite primitive. Clockwork type stuff.

Kikori is going solo on the bad guy stuff, at least as far as he's concerned. IE, don't insert yourself as his henchman, lol.

Lastly, don't go crazy overpowered with your character. But then, anyone who's played an RP would know that.

You guys have creative control with this RP, insert yourself as you see fit. Obviously, be reasonable.

Here's my character:

His name is Caston Carnaly. He is in his early twenties, green eyes, short dark hair. Caston is from Haven, a small village just north of Windrow. He's been studying to be a wizard, a Blue Wizard to be precise, but to be the best you have to learn from the best. In short, he is currently a fledgling wizard, capable of some things but can't handle the most effective and complex spells. His weapon of choice is a quarterstaff, he is proficient with it but not a master. He's gathering things in his home to set out on a journey. He has long wanted to study at the Institute of Magic in Windrow, where all the best wizards learn and teach. He and his family have finally gathered the necessary funds for him to do so. This is where our adventure begins...

Caston bustles about his small country home gathering provisions for his trip. He still lives with his family, on a small sheep farm. His mother is cooking inside, as well as his little sister. His father is tending the sheep in the field behind the house.

"Caston, my goodness, slow down. I'm not letting you leave before you have a hearty dinner in your stomach."

"I don't want to wait any longer."

"Of course you don't, but you can't learn on an empty stomach." She says, pulling out a chair for him. Caston obliges. His mother shouts out the back door to his father that supper is ready. He hears his father mumbling curses and something about how "the sheep won't shear themselves". Caston settles in and begins to eat, a hearty rabbit stew. His mother is a phenomenal cook. Caston acknowledges the fact that he will miss home, and vows that he will return and take his family away from here when he becomes famous. Fame...Caston Carnaly will be the newest man honored at court in Windrow, the greatest wizard to ever live, and eventually, his name will appear inside the Cavern of Heroes.

"...but you can't learn on an empty stomach." Dusk smiled at the comment, wondering just how many times he had proven the saying wrong. Still, a mother couldn't be denied honest intentions when she's fighting to keep her child safe for as much longer as possible.

"As long as possible" only lasted so long, however. Soon the boy seemed to be gathering his things to leave, everyone else relatively still. Finally, he left after many good-byes cast around. Dusk reached down and took one single knife, eyes still closed as he simply threw the knife to the right. With a loud plunk, it landed in the wood, knife's base pointing straight at Dusk. If he understood the potential and powers of his mark, then footsteps would approach in three... two...

One second sooner than expected, the footsteps cleared the side of the house. Dusk's head turned to the right, and his eyes finally opened so he could look at the young man. "Hello. My name is Rutilus Mucro, though I've earned the nickname "Dusk" from who knew me. And you, nameless, have potential." Looking back at the section of ground he had been staring at before, and without giving Caston a chance to speak, Dusk drew his sword and began twirling it within his fingers absentmindedly.
"To be a magician of any kind..." As a preventive measure of being mistaken for being a threat, he blended darkness and light within his energies, radiating a small bit of light from the sword as he spoke. "...you have to understand elements. People. Personalities. Emotions. Everything that makes up the world... And given the energies I feel inside you, something tells me you may be well suited for what you seek."

Again, without pausing, Dusk continued his odd monologue while playing with small energies, changing the "soothing" mix of light and dark to a simple display of air swirling around his blades as water trickled from the handle to the tip, a reflection of 'blue' magic. "Young boy, tell me. Not only your name, but what do you understand..." Dusk stopped his movements, gripping his blade tight so the wind gusted outward, carrying water with it. "...about magic?"

Goten is dead!

Name- Unknown
Appearance- An absolute bull of a man. Half man, Half Giant. His body and face are covered in deep scars. He has shaggy hair, a dirty appearance, and a huge beard that has never been trimmed. (Think Hagrid x2.) He also appears to never have heard the word "bath" in his entire life.
Age- Late twenties, but his exact age is unknown.
Skills- Brute strength, and high pain tolerance.
Setbacks- Clinically insane, talks to himself in a foreign language, and is always paranoid. His strength is his downfall if he's angered. Almost unstoppable rage and bloodrath. He can understand English, but can't speak it very well. Alcoholic.
Weapon- A huge single bladed axe in each hand.
Clothes/Equipment- He has a large pack on his back, complete with blankets, tinder, flint and steel. It also carries assorted animal pelt garments for colder weather. He has a long skinning knife, used for skinning animals to retrieve their pelts. His tunic is leather and tattered, and his pants are shredded.
Personality- Almost non-existent. He rarely talks, but always listens. If he is talking, it's almost always to himself, and rarely at another person. Quiet and Guarded for the most part.

He sat at the base of the mountain completely motionless. His dirty appearance and hair almost blended in to the foliage perfectly. His eyes were staring intently at his prey. The mountain lion had just made a kill on a deer and sat eating oblivious to his existence. He slowly withdrew his axes, his eyes never leaving the lion. The lion's ears flicked, and it turned it's head towards him for a moment, then went back to it's meal. With a sudden crash, he raised up out of his hiding spot, and stormed towards the lion. The lion turned and barred it's teeth at him. He stopped short, and put his axes back on his pack, and set the pack down. He smiled a wild smile, his eyes wide with rage and insanity. "AAARRRRGGHHHH!!!" He growled and leaped onto the the lion, hands extended aiming for it's neck. They wrestled on the ground for minutes, the lion constantly scratching and biting the man. He just smiled wider, and kept fighting. Finally, he got a good grip with his left hand on the lions neck. With a quick motion, he clenched his fist as hard as possible, and lifted the animal high above his head. When it was finally dead, he set it down next to his pack, and pulled out a skinning knife, and began to skin the animal and build his camp for the night. The air was cool, but not so cold that he needed to break out his winter gear. In the distance, about 5 miles away was a forest. This was the farthest he had been away from his people, and he didn't plan on going back ever. As he built the fire, he started talking to himself. His words were his native tongue, and even if there was someone around to hear them, they wouldn't have understood them anyway. As the fire was built, he gathered leaves from nearby, and made a bed in the dirt. He stared into the fire, humming a weird, broken tune; slowly drifting off to sleep.

Caston was soon finished with his meal. He kissed his mother and sister goodbye, and shook hands with his father. He had gathered all of his things, and was on his way.

As soon as Caston stepped out the door, a strange feeling overcame him. Even young wizards are far more perceptive than the average person. Shaking off the feeling, he rounded the corner of the house. Before he could get his bearings, he was approached by a man who called himself Rutilus Mucro, or "Dusk". Caston sensed a very powerful aura about him, those who do magic easily recognize others who practice as well. The man went on for a time about magic, and Caston grew restless. He did do several tricks of magic while speaking, and with surprising ease. When he had finally finished, he asked Caston what he knew about magic.

As curious, or rather, awestruck as Caston may be by this man, he had somewhere to be.

"I know that I have an appointment with the Headmaster of the Institute in Windrow in three days' time, and I cannot afford to be late. Excuse me." Caston pushed past the stranger and went on his way.

Character Name : Delon "The Quick" Wilde.



Delon watched Caston walk past the stranger from bushes nearby. As his eyes followed him down the street, he wondered if he couldn't talk this young man into assisting him make quick cash. With his mind set on possible profits he casually followed Caston from a safe distance, making sure he wasn't looking too suspicious. As he followed, he began to set up a plan to lure this easy prey in.

"I think I'll begin with something to catch his attention... A fake magic trick perhaps. Maybe I'll make myself dissappear..." he said as he patted the bag on his sash. "Or perhaps, I'll simply sweet talk him into doing my bidding. A mage like him could be extra ordinarily useful for my purposes..." he finished with a slight laugh.

"Hmph. Not one to miss deadlines, are you? Rest assured, you will make it. Even at a pleasant stroll, the trip would not consume even one day." Dusk stepped in front of Caston and held out his weapon horizontally, fire starting to form from the bottoms of the blades and travelling up to the top. "My question has not been answered, and keep in mind learning from any source would benefit you. I didn't travel so long to see much potential and walk away without saying my keep. Draw your quarterstaff; if you are to be a true Blue mage, you should have the power over water needed to douse my blades." Dusk spun his blades in place and brought them behind him, leaving streaks of fiery red behind where he swung that cut into the ground to leave burn marks, proof of a real flame. "Come. Show me what you know about water."

Johath stepped out of his house. Today was a good day to travel. He was going to head up to Windrow, to visit the Clockwork House, which is the great home of clockwork mechanics. He hopes to find how to work more with clockworks, and maybe develop new weapons. At the back of his mind, he is daydreaming that he will get his name written down in history as the greatest clockwork mechanic.

As Caston tried to push past the stranger, he was stopped once again. The man had an agenda of some sort, and Caston seemed to be part of it.

Assuring Caston he would make his appointment, he used fire magic to make small flames. This utterly baffled Caston, as the man had earlier been toying with water and air...how could that be? Wizards tended to use only one type of magic, no one did more than one. That's just the way it was, magic was a mistress and you did not betray her. Dusk reminded Caston that his question hadn't been answered, so Caston indulged. After all, Dusk has said something of learning from him, and he had surely captured Caston's attention by using polar opposite magic. Also, he obviously wasn't going to leave Caston alone until satisfied, and the last thing Caston wanted was trouble in his little town.

With a sigh, Caston set down his knapsack and drew his staff. It didn't have an ounce of channeling ability, but Caston used it so when he did come across a real magical staff, he would know how to wield it.

"What do I know about magic? Only the basics, what I've been able to figure out on my own and from extensive reading. Blue magic takes extreme concentration, patience, reserve; more so than other arts. You must visualize the water as a solid, wrap your mind around it as if you are grasping it with your hands, and manipulate it as you see fit." Caston took some of the water that is naturally in the air, condensed it, and doused the stranger's flames. "Sadly, that's about the extent of my abilities. That is why I'm going to Windrow to study with the Wizards there. So tell me, Dusk. How in the world are you able to do more than one type of magic as if you are a master of both?"

Name: Tahu Millenun
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 71 kg (about 155 pounds)
Age: 28
Appearance: Tahu has auburn hair, blue eyes, and fair skin, and has a skinny but athletic build. He stands tall and takes long strides when he walks, and his movements are precise. He favors brown, dark red, and medium grey clothes that are baggy, practical, and have lots of pockets.
Personality: Tahu is normally calm, collected, and rather cold. He's logical and intelligent, but prefers to keep to himself. However, he has very strong opinions, and can debate them long and hard against any who disagree. As a side note, in modern society he'd probably be labeled as mildly autistic.
Abilities: An accomplished mage and swordsman, Tahu is capable of both melee and ranged combat...to a degree. He's not as strong as a dedicated melee fighter or capable of the sheer spellpower of an experienced mage, and often has to use precision and skill to make up for a lack in pure strength. He can use both general spells (telekinesis, minor conjurations, the like) as well as a few decently powerful fire spells, both pinpoint and area-affecting.
Note: I'm putting him down as a fire mage because while he's intelligent, he's also direct and can be passionate. He's not the sort of intelligent person that tricks his opponent; he's the sort that applies his intelligence better to the situation at hand and is more efficient.
On the sword side, Tahu's an experienced fencer, but lacks the physical strength required to use anything heavier than a longsword. He favors precision and speed over strength in swordplay.
Equipment: Tahu doesn't carry too much stuff around. His armor is light, covering only his chest, shoulders, arms, and legs, leaving his head bare. He wears a cloak with minor enchantments against harm (think cloak of resistance +2 from Dungeons & Dragons), and carries a rapier as his only weapon. The pommel of the rapier holds a ruby that stores the magic necessary to cover the blade in flames when commanded. On his left had, Tahu has a gauntlet that lets him channel fire magic more effectively.

When I was doing this character up, I tried to put him at about 4th-5th level (D&D standards; probably a 2nd-level rouge and 3rd-level sorcerer), and give him equipment to match (+1 flaming rapier, cloak of resistance +2, and armor equivalent to a chain shirt). I'll post a sketch later.

Dusk allowed the flames on his swords to be doused, but turned in place and let the water slide to the blade that would end closest to Caston. At the end of the spin, Dusk's blade was pointed at Caston's throat, with the water slinging out like a whip before freezing in place, leaving a trail of ice not two inches from the neck of the young mage. "You forget, or did not know. Blue is more than water; water sustains all the life on the planet, but what spreads the life?" Dusk pulled back and sliced through the ground, a burst of air spreading from the gash that caused the grass to fly upward before floating gently down. "Air, wind, and the sky. Seeds of life and smells that attract find their ways through the air until life can be created, boy, as carefree and whimsically as the wind itself. It forces the same concentration as water, the same intimate knowledge of where the air you're controlling is coming from and going, but there is one key difference."

Dusk hopped backwards and tugged his swords in opposite directions, splitting the one weapon into two blades before slamming the tips into the earth to create small craters from nature's energies. "Wind can be as gentle as a feather's drop or powerful enough to topple trees. It can blow slow as time or faster than the blink of an eye. If you want to hit me, you will need to grasp the power of air."

With his right hand's sword held proper and the left turned back to run along his arm, Dusk held out a blade in challenge. "Face me!"

Watching the quarrel from the sidelines, Delon thought that this blade-wielding mage might get in the way of his plans. We wondered if he could not assist Caston in this dispute with the aid of his flash powder. Delon took a second to ponder the course of this duel.

"If I can simply get behind this mage, and wait for him to strike, I shall be able to swiftly move in, blind him, and devise a plan with my 'friend' to make an escape... Maybe this is exactly what I needed to make the acquaintance of this young mage." he said as he crept around the back of Dusk. "Yes..." he finished as he drew a single blade and a handful of powder from his leather sash.

Again, the mage took a lecturing tone and began to tell Caston about the powers of air.

Of course I know the powers of air too, water is just a better tool for dousing a fire...He thought to himself. Caston noted that the wizard before him seemed quite arrogant and cold. With good reason, it seemed.

The wizard challenged Caston, and Caston was baffled by this. Surely if the wizard was intent on harming or killing Caston, he would do so with a fraction of a thought. Though, possibly this was the beginnings of a valuable lesson? Caston had never before had the opportunity to work with a wizard, let alone one of this caliber. He reached down and tossed his knapsack clear, and whirled his quarterstaff while a flicker of a smirk crossed his face.

Caston concentrated deeply, as deeply as he could, and began to make the air around Dusk thicker. Caston had read that one with enough experience can trap another person in air, even crush them. He only hoped his spell would hinder the man long enough for Caston to be able to hit him.

After his nap, he packed up his camp, and began moving south. He didn't know what he was looking for, but he kept walking. If he spotted game, he'd take the chance to take it down and gather it's pelt, but he walked with no particular goal in mind. Eventually he came to a small village. He couldn't speak the language of these lands, but he could understand it. Instead of walking through the middle of town, he stuck to the outskirts, always keeping one eye on the town, and the other ahead. Every-so-often he would check his back to make sure he wasn't going to be ambushed any time soon. He then spotted a peculiar situation. One man had his sword pointed at another, much younger man. To his own left, he saw another holding a shorter blade and his palm was clenched around something. The younger man began casting a spell to surround the older man, he had never seen magic being used before, and was fascinated and intimidated at the same time. He immediately stopped, and sat down, again almost perfectly camouflaged in his surroundings. With both hands grasping the hilt of his axes, he sat perfectly motionless, and watched.

"Foolish!" Dusk spun his blades in place and slammed them sideways into the ground around him again, this time blasting spikes of stone upward that pierced the thickening air. Effectively creating a shield from the wind, the air started to disperse some, allowing Dusk an easy access to charge at Caston. "You may certainly slow me down, but the true power of air lies in its ability to create! Now, create the speed needed to ht me!" With a controlled slash, Dusk brought his right blade downward, toward Caston's chest. His left arm was spent being held back, ready to shift and block anything but a stab to the back.

As he approached Caston, the energies of two onlookers caught his attention, truly feeling like he was being watched. 'One is... a dark trickster, fairly full of greed. One seems to be a berserker, but almost too passive at the moment to be a threat. That means I can focus on this boy, for now...'

Goten is dead!

The wizard used the powers of another discipline to combat his air magic, as Caston thought he might. The attack was less an actual offense, and more a gauge of the wizards true power. It was still apparent that Dusk was toying with Caston, or rather, fighting on the defense a bit.

Caston racked his brain for any information that might help him. He recalled reading that air can be used to increase a person's speed, as well as the speed and power of a blow.

With that in mind, Caston conjured a strong gust to aid him in sidestepping to the right of the Wizard. Once he had done so, Caston conjured another gust behind his staff, and swung around and at the wizard's feet, attempting to trip him and end the battle.

Dusk pushed the tip of his sword in near his foot, catching the point where Caston's staff would hit his blade. They connected, and the staff was taken upward by Dusk's lifting his sword, bringing it high over his head while the blunt side of his left-handed sword's handle started moving in a thrust toward Caston's gut. "A staff has two ends, boy. Use them!"

He didn't like where this was going. There was something...evil about the older of the two wizards. He knew the older one could easily finish the younger one off without a second thought, and he didn't like it. He started shifting slowly to get into position to rush the older wizard from behind if he needed to. He had never been hit by a magic spell, but his skin was a lot tougher than mosts, and he didn't feel much pain anymore. He finally got behind the older wizard, from a distance. He could reach him within a few strides easily, but he remained motionless for the time being. A smile started to come across his face.

The wizard was proficient in hand to hand combat as well. Caston again used the power of air to aid him. He gathered an amount of air, and hurled it at Dusk as hard and fast as he could, straight on and into his face. He whirled his staff above his head, fortified it with wind, and tried to bring it down upon his foe's skull.

Delon had decided that this fight had lasted too long. He stood up and moved toward Dusk, fist tightly clenched around his flash powder, and dagger held backwards ready for a slash if need be. As he got closer and closer to Dusk, he couldn't help but feel like his presence was already known, and time seemed to slow down, as the adrenaline began to pump through his body.
