A few of the players are already aware of this, but we're getting to the point in the current DnD campaign that there's been a few issues not only of overcrowding, but with it becoming difficult to take in new players (particularly ones who haven't played before). To alleviate this, I figure it's time to get a second campaign going.

So far it's in the planning stages, and I'm still trying to guage interest. So far there are two definites and a few maybes, and there's a number of players whose schedules haven't meshed well with the current run and thuse haven't been able to start. If you aren't sure about your schedule yet, this probably won't happen for a few months. I'm waiting until the current group hits level 11, aka Paragon Tier before anything would happen. This should give some buffer time to determine if this will happen yet. I've already talked a little bit with Thyker about it, and here's a few suggestions of his and mine (very subject to change if this happens):

-This campaign will mainly be evil (as opposed to the "neutral" one going right now).
-The setting will mainly include divine creatures (creatures such as angels, demons, and potentially deities)
-It might also take place in the same campaign world as the current one, with these new evil players dealing with the results of the current campaign's endeavors. Example: If players show up at Sharish Island, there's a king who might want a few knights to help restore some confidence in his subjects (by paragon tier, this will be a minor detail ;)).
-Full[ish] DnD rules, particularly having enough water and rations to get you through a journey. I'm also hoping for a greater emphasis on roleplaying your characters in this one. Expect me demanding lots of descriptiveness when you perform actions, even moreso than usual.

Anyway, if you're in the current campaign, I AM NOT ASKING ANYONE TO LEAVE. Some people got that impression when I brought it up in chat, and that is not the case. It is overcrowded, but oh well. The crowd is already invested enough in their characters, and I'm not going to do away with that. However, if you want to migrate to a [potentially] smaller group, that option is open.

So now comes the part where everyone argues loudly. Any discussion of potential house rules and changes to the setting is more than welcome. Again, planning stages.

I haven't participated int he main campaign for ages, so I'd prefer to move to this new one, if that's Ok. I'm available Mon-Wed nights after 9:30 or so EST, Thursday after 6:00, and Friday after 9:00 or so (prone to changing from week to week, as that's when my college's SCII team holds their games). Weekends, I'm available after 6:00 or so.
Also, can we use the Forgotten Realms expansion in the character generator?

So we have a quasi-good but really neutral "Most dangerous" campaign that we're probably about 30% finished with, and a new one that may take place simultaneously in which our party is evil?

Don't see why not.

I may be in this time, it really will depend on the schedule. So once that is a little more detailed I will be able to give a definite answer.

Also for the record I am a complete DnD and Roleplay noob.

A few of us started off at that point, Scar. After a few consecutive sessions, you start to get used to the swing of things.

It's more than okay for you to join, and Forgotten Realms will be fair game in this one (I just didn't know enough about it before to do anything with it).

And Scar, the schedule will probably be for Mondays and potentially Fridays from looking at Tahu's. I'm pretty much free those days, save for some school clubs in the evenings. The only days I'm not open are Tuesdays and Thursdays, and whenever the other group decides to play (those times are kind of spurious, but they can easily work around you guys). If thsoe don't work, I'm sure we can come to some arrangement.

Likely won't jump into this one. I realize we don't have to leave the other campaign but I'd feel odd doing two campaigns at once when the current one is my first as is.

But I'm in full support of this campaign if it means less people joining in on the current one.

This.

If I do change my mind about not joining this one, could I join midway through?

That would work great for me Blue, I have Fridays free entirely. Mondays I have class from 8am to 11am and then from 3:30PM to 6:30PM so I should be able to play :D all times are EST for me BTW.

As for actually playing, is there anything I need to go over or get in order before the game starts?

Tools: These are what will absolutely be needed for one to participate in the campaigns that will be played.
- Gametable -- This program is what we will be using to play the game, it has the ability to save your character's dice macros, making it easy for one to roll whatever power they feel during the encounter, as well as serve as some visual aid for the campaign.
- Skype -- This is what we will be using to talk with other players in the campaign, as well as with the DM. The DM hosting the campaign through gametable will also be able to post the information about the hosted game through it so our adventurers will be able to connect to a private session. (Note to DMs: The information required for giving to the players is fairly standard, IP hosting on, password, and port(if necessary).)
- A Microphone - Crucial to have along side Skype, makes everything easier in the long run, enables the adventurer/DM to speak freely without their text being lost in a sea of rolls during the campaign.
- The Wizards.com Character Builder - A very handy tool for creating characters. Walks you through different steps, allows for a lot of customization for one's Character. Easy to use, demo allows characters to level up to level 3. (after that something will be worked out.) Note: Be sure to save your character sheet somewhere you will remember it -- as you will need it for a lot of other things.
- iPlay4e - This is a website where you can upload your finished character sheet and have it there for easy access. It will tell you your character's basic information (armor class, stats, combat powers, and the like.)

You don't NEED a microphone, though one is handy. The rest of these will need to be downloaded or visited, though.

If you like, when you get all this downloaded, add me on Skype and I'll see about showing you the basics of turn orders in combat or what happens out of combat, as well as what means what when making your character. I ain't perfect at it, but starter knowledge at least helps.

FUN FACT: Earphones can be used as microphones! This is due to some complicated stuff you guys won't care about. Basically just plug your earphones into your 1/8 inch microphone jack on your computer. Then one of your headphones (either left ear or right ear) will function as a microphone. It'll be crappy, but it will usually work, just speak into one of them.

So if you want to talk to kik soon, but would also like to get a good deal on a microphone a little later, this is a viable option if you have a pair of headphones lying around.

Does it have to be 1/8 because the port on my computer as well as my head phones themselves are 3.5mm I believe...

This works. Back when I used TeamSpeak when playing PlanetSide, I used an old pair of headphones as a mike. Like Thyker said, it's crappy, but it works.
For those who care about why this works:
Hidden:
A microphone and a speaker are basically the same thing--a magnet bound to a diaphragm and surrounded by an electromagnet. As a speaker, pulses of electric current run through the electromagnet, causing the magnet and diaphragm to vibrate, producing sound. However, when the diaphragm vibrates without input from the electromagnet, the magnet in the diaphragm moving induces an electric current in the electromagnet. In fact, the first phonograph used the same speaker cone to both record and play sound.

As for as plug sizes go, the standard is 3.5mm (the size of headphone port on an iPod, for example). However, larger plugs (known as "cannon plugs") are also occasionally used, though they're rarer nowadays in electronics (most people would know them as guitar cables). They both work exactly the same way, and there are even adapters between the two. So long as the plug is the right size, it should work.

I know this will make some people mad, but for the players who are looking to have a second character in this campaign: You won't have priority in character creation when joining. People who have never played before or don't regularly participate in the first campaign will.

The main reason for this campaign is that there are multiple players that haven't been able to join due to schedules, haven't been able to participate regularly, or haven't been able to jump in because of how far you guys are into it. It really bothered me a few weeks ago when someone said "I don't feel like teaching new players at this point", and that's why this is starting. I'm not going to say no to being in both campaigns, but I want a headcount of "new" players before regulars start jumping in.

So far we have Scar, Rocky, Tsukasa (possibly), Derrick (my DM), Tahu, and Thyker. I'm expecting 6 not counting second characters, so if you're bothered by the party of 7 in the current game, please don't jump into this one. It won't get any better.

I have no problem with people joining midway through, just as I haven't had a problem with it in the current game.

On a different note, since most people seem to have Fridays free, I think that should be the regular day. Do Fridays NOT work for anyone?

It may or may not work for me, as my week is ALWAYS random. It is most often a good day for me, however.

Like I said before, Fridays are when my SCII team holds their matches, but those start at 8:00 and are almost always over by 9:00.

Am curious about an evil session tonight or sometime in the weekend. Mainly to see how potentially in-synch the new cast may be able to work together.
