With the not-so-recent decline in decent roleplays, and the loss of interest of some of our greatest partakers in said roleplays, I've decided to give this all one last shot. Soren, Aznpkilla, Jaron and I came up with this idea last night, and I hope it stays active to the finish. Not much else to say, haha.

This is an invite only roleplay. Doing so is to avoid players who may get lax with their posting (I'm totally innocent >_>) or spur arguments between players.

Invite List

Craftyllama
Soren the Thief
Aznpkilla
Jaron
Tsukasa
Stip
Topsummoner

If you weren't included, but still want to join in, PM me and I'll consider it, but you'll have to wait a while so it doesn't get too crowded all at once. The best roleplays are less like Zamorak's Bane 2 in the character department.

The character sheet in your first post should look something like this.

Name: Night Pirelli
Race: Hume
Gender: Male
Class: Black Mage
Age: 26
Height / Weight: 5'3" / 140 lbs.
Description: Night is a timid looking fellow, save his robust mustache and sharp facial features. Well, maybe not so timid. But he is short, which he takes no ridiculing for. His past isn't that intense or dramatic, he was simply brought as a boy with all intents on being a Black Mage and joining a clan at some point to make his way through life, and that's what he did. Well, except for the clan bit. He was still getting to that. He wears plain blue robes and a yellow pointy hat along with a roomy backpack for carrying supplies and his trusty Rod. (His weapon)

Rules

Now, this roleplay is mostly based on the Final Fantasy Tactics A2 universe, with loose classes from the game and all the races, along with taking place in our own region of Ivalice. If you want, you can choose a race from any of the other games, so long as it's not ridiculous. If you haven't played the game, don't fret! There's no real complicated rules, it's mostly general fantasy with chocobos, moogles, and airships.

I know you all know the more basic rules of roleplaying, so without further ado...

Final Fantasy
Oblivia

"Damn... that... plant..." muttered Night to himself in his strong Italian accent. As he limped determinedly down the cobbled street of Greshe, he couldn't help but wonder if the reward was really worth it. Some old hag had sent him out to go pick a certain herb for her tea, with 100 gil in store for him on his return. But of course, she forgot the mention that the plant only grew in the thickest of briar thickets in the Kellera Wood.

He dropped off the herb, received his pay, and made his way home to his cheap inn near the middle of the town. This was no way to make money, he realized. He needed a partner or two to be able to finish jobs with speed and efficiency. Perhaps in the morning he would ask around for a potential party.

Name: Aj’Katahn
Race: Bangaa
Class: White Monk/Warrior
Gender: Male
Age: 28 (Hume Years. He’s quite the studly young’un amongst Bangaa.)
Height / Weight: 6’ 1” / 208 lbs.

Description:

Aj’Katahn was born and raised in a Bangaa monastery outside the city of Greshe, in the Arrondan Mountain Range. His mother and father had abandoned him at the footsteps of the magnificent building, or at least that’s what he has come to think. His caretakers, kindly Bishops and Templars, attempted to lead him down a different train of thought, but as Aj’Katahn grew older, he wouldn’t hear of it. He knew something was odd about him. The other Bangaa in the monastery were of different scale coloring, being reddish-browns and sandy colors, while he was colored a dark gray. Nonetheless, being raised by such calm Bangaa, Aj’Katahn rarely let his anger slip. He found a way to deal with his frustrations, by learning the arts of war.

His lessons were those of a Monk. He learned to fight using his fists, along with his feet and tail. He grew accustomed to the styles taught to him, and applied his own variations to several different techniques. During his time at the monastery, he thanked his elders for the consideration they gave him, but more was out of place than simply his skin tone. Eventually, he convinced the others that he would have to leave at some point, and set out. Before he left, however, one of the Templars offered to scribe the monastery’s insignia on his left shoulder. From what Aj’Katahn had read in books, such markings were widely accepted among modern Bangaa society, and quickly agreed. The marking ended up being a light gray, to stand out most on his dark skin, a sharp swirling pattern with a blade pointing downward.

Aj’Katahn is of the Bista subspecies of Bangaa, meaning that his skin is dark, his snout pointed, and his ears long. On top of the tattoo, he has obtained several other markings since his time at the monastery, including several silver ear piercings on each set of ears, and a new tattoo emblazoned on his back, this one a deep red. The insignia has no particular meaning, other than to show how clearly hardcore Aj’Katahn is. He often wears no form of a shirt, but sandy colored pants do him just fine. Aj’Katahn has also taken it upon himself to learn the basic ways of a Bangaa Warrior, teaching himself common swordplay. So now, on top of his metal gauntlets earned from the monastery, he carries a simple blade at his back, allowing him to draw it using his right hand. A burlap sack holds his only other possessions, such as his money and a few restoratives.
__________

Sorry if this was a bit long. O_o I couldn't help myself. I'll actually make a post later. For now, it be the time of sleep.

Donor: Guardian (2009)
Name: Zadio
Race: Hume
Gender: Male
Class: Summoner/Black Mage
Age: 20
Height / Weight: 5ft 5/150lbs (I’m no good with heights and weights, this line is open for change)
Description: Zadio was born into a family of summoners, and at a young age was taught how to call apon Espers. Though he was brought up to believe that White Magic was an important asset for a summoner, Zadio insisted that he would be taught Black Magic instead. His parents forbid it, stating that Black Magic was too dangerous for him. Despite this, Zadio discarded his teachings in White Magic and saved up enough gil to buy a book of Black Magic from a pawn shop. Alone in his room he would practice it, until one day, when he was ten, a fire spell accidentally set his house on fire. Though the flame was extinguished quickly, Zadio knew he could not face his parents or risk losing his book of Black Magic, and ran away from his small village home. He eventually game upon a city, and lay low for awhile, doing odd jobs to gain gil. Eventually, he bought his own apartment in this city known as Greshe. (I’m following the trend of being in Greshe, since I haven’t played too far into FFXII and therefore don’t really know anywhere in Ivalice.)

IC: Light poured in. It was noon hour, and Zadio still lay in bed. Shutting the blinds, he closed his eyes again.

OOC: wewt, Cow's back :D

Also, if you want this RP to see the finish line, better make it short :P

Name: Dante Evajon
Race: Cetra
Gender: Male
Class: Red Mage
Age: 17
Height / Weight: 1,89 meters / 73,4 kg (Go convert it yourself.)
Description: Dante has a friendly, even kind of naive-looking face, with shoulder-length brown hair. He has a fair amount of muscle, though he'd still struggle with holding a two-handed sword properly. His skin is decently tanned due to the time he spends outside, and he really enjoys swimming, and thus he can often be found near the sea shore with his friends when the weather allows it.

He has been helping out in a magic store since he was about five years old to earn some extra Gil, and to learn a few things about the art of magic (I refuse to use the term "Magicks", it just seems...awkward). At the age of seven, he'd finally gotten the hang of that magic thing and used it to show off to his friends, which usually meant using said magic to patch up the wounds his other attempts caused him.

As he really enjoyed using it, he began to practise a bit more, until, at age 12, he'd gotten most of the basic spells down, and participated in a swimming match for the first time, in which he ended up in fourth place. In the following years, not much happened, apart from getting a second place on another swimming contest at age 14, and accidentally burning down a forest with a misfired Fire spell at age 16, which no-one ever managed to proof was his doing.

Dante is usually seen wearing dark baggy trousers and a loose-fitting, slightly oversized T-shirt, despite his parents' efforts to make him dress up more neatly when he goes outside. Said parents also tried to get him to cut his hair on numerous occasions, though as of yet, they failed to convince him. Dante's also capable of basic swordfighting, though is far from a master of it. He also has a quite heavy British accent, though doesn't often use typically British words.

OOC: Bah. Silly Hume Mages. Also, all the locations for our Ivalice are going to be completely original. Most likely. I doubt we'll use locations from any other FF game, so yeah, don't worry about not knowing the land. In fact, I made up the Arrondan Mountain Range when I posted, so. . .chyeah. O_o

BIC:

"Please, s-sir, I'll do what you want! I have a family waiting for me at home!" Aj'Katahn stiff-armed the silly stuttering Hume even farther into the alley wall, "If it's gil you want, I have plenty, really. . .t-take it all!"

"Feh. It'ss not your money I want, ssir," Aj'Katahn spoke in a rough whisper, emphasizing the word 'sir' in mockery, "There iss ssomething elsse of yourss that I'm wanting. . ." His dark eyes slowly made their way from the Humes to a sheathed blade at his waist, "There'ss a posst out for a thief that decided to make away with a rather pricey blade, ssir." At this comment, the Hume attempted to draw the blade, but Aj'Katahn used his free hand to slam the hilt back. He then attempted a head butt to the forehead, in hopes of knocking the poor thing out, but he moved and Aj'Katahn slammed his own forehead into the stone. As he reeled from the embarrassing turn of events, the thief pushed away from the wall, forcing Aj'Katahn into the other wall, and fled with all due haste.

Aj'Katahn chased after as soon as he realized the thief was gone, and turned the corner to see him pushing his way past a white-robed knight. He disappeared down some other alleyway, and Aj'Katahn grimaced. He was only an average sprinter among Bangaa, and the fastest of Bangaa are rarely a match for the more nimble races. Aj'Katahn walked up to the white-robed man, shoving him by the shoulder.

"And you jusst let him get away?" Aj'Katahn spat, "Feh. That would have bought me a hardy cluckatrice breasst and fine ale for my ssupper tonight, Hume." He proceeded to walk away without a response from the no doubt surprised Hume. He entered a pub that doubled as an inn, where he had hoped to stay for the night. Instead, he collected his belongings and began to drink the night away with what little money he had. Eventually he was kicked out for being disruptive, and lay against the building until morning.

The noontime Greshen sun warmed his scales considerably, but the ache in his muscles, especially his lower back, wouldn't go away anytime soon. And then there was the massive hangover only a Bangaa that has had too much to drink can understand. What Humes call hangovers are just headaches, compared to a Bangaan hangover. Through this, though, he made his way back inside the pub, where the barkeep kept a wary eye on him. But he also knew Aj'Katahn more than this, and proceeded to bring out a list of jobs that had been posted since last night.

Frowning through it all, Aj'Katahn sifted through the leaflets of paper, desperately trying to find a well-paying, single man job.

OOC: The other Kyrina was a White Mage too, although it never came to be known/used. ^_^

Name: Kyrina
Race: Viera
Gender: Female
Class: White Mage
Age: 20
Height / Weight: 5'4" / 120 lbs.
Description: An average Viera, skinny with tall ears, wearing white robes with red trim and a shiny blue pendant around her neck. Naive and trusting, even to a fault, probably as a result of her upbringing. Orphaned at an early age, Kyrina was taken in by a nearby monastery shrouded in a forest. She stayed there, mostly secluded from busy society (large towns), learning the art of White Magicks from her caretakers. She wields a normal Cure staff although she knows other White Magick abilities. Upon turning 20, Kyrina decided to completely change her direction in life and set out into the world. This is her first journey alone, and her first outside of the forest in a few years.

Come on, friends. . .let's not let it die quite yet, eh? I need some good FF-related material for a new writing project, after all. ;D

Oh, and all that stuff about a decline in good RP threads, etc.

Downstairs would be the best place to find someone, Night reasoned as he scrubbed his face and set down the cheap rag provided in his room. He had hardly gotten any sleep last night. Around 22-23 hours, someone downstairs (presumably a Bangaa) caused some sort of rompous ruckus, and woken him from his deep and somewhat sore sleep. Night always did have trouble getting back to sleep after being woken.

Donning his favorite yellow pointy hat and adjusting the strap that kept his staff firmly on his back, he trodded down the steps to see that the inn was nearly empty at the moment, save old barman Briggs and that gray Bangaa he commonly saw drinking on his own. It appeared that said Bangaa was perusing the newest list of jobs produced from under the bar. Perhaps this was opportunity knocking?

He tenderly sat himself on the stool next to the scaly humanoid, and called out to Briggs, who was currently washing some dishes in the back.

"Two Dalmascan Ales, Briggs?"

"Ah, feelin' exotic this mornin' are ye? A bit early for drinkin', wouldntcha wager?" Briggs slung his dishtowel over his shoulder and began to prepare the drinks.

"Not after yesterday, friend," Night replied as optimistically as he could muster. "Bad patch of thorns."

"Ah, well." Briggs set down the two steins in front of Night, giving him a half-toothed grin. "'Tis life." Night nodded before he went back to his dishes, and pushed one of the ales over to the Bangaa. If his intuition served him right (And it rarely did), then this was the the culprit of the disturbance last night.

"Tell me, good sir, how was waking me last night?"

Kyrina continued walking, no destination particularly in mind. Although the Monastery was a nice place and her home of nearly twenty years, she was going to earn nothing by staying there any longer, and she fully realized that. It was time to stop putting off starting her life, "...no matter what that may bring," Kyrina mumbled, stopping at the sight before her. She had finally just met up with the tree line, and the small field in front of her gave way to a large city about a mile away. Sighing, she continued on. More likely than not, this wasn't going to be a bit of fun, and probably most awkward, something she was not looking forward to at all.

The city was a majestic place. Kyrina had been here maybe once or twice, several years before, she had all but entirely forgotten what it was like. People of all ages and races went to and fro, caught up in their own reveries, with places to go and people to see, surely. Does that girl...have...horns? She thought to herself, seeing a Gria across the street striking a deal with a blacksmith. Kyrina walked a bit further into town before stopping on the sidewalk, finally letting it sink in that she had no idea where to start. "Bow & Arrow Shop", "Pub", "Auction House" were displayed on the signs of the buildings nearest to her. "Why isn't there any sort of information center...that would be nice," she remarked, barely audible.

"If you don't like the noisse," Aj'Katahn replied without looking up from the leaflets, "I ssuggesst finding another place to to sspend your nightss. I don't go anywhere elsse for my drinkss." He stopped then, speaking more to himself now, "Which sseemss to be happening a lot lately."

Now he noticed the drink this pointy hat-wearing Hume had bought him. Reluctantly, concerning it was so early, but not wanting to pass up a free drink, the Bangaa took the mug and downed it in a few easy gulps. It wouldn't be more than a shot to his Bangaan stomach, and couldn't do much harm.

"Thornss, eh?" Aj'Katahn looked over at the Hume now, a hint of a smile curling his lips, "You Humess alwayss have been rather ssquishy. Nothing like having tough sskin. But I digresss. A persson, esspecially a Hume, doessn't simply buy a sstranger a drink, esspecially when the recipient had been sso. . .rude. What game are you playing at?"

"Simply a game of alliance, my friend. I couldn't help but notice that you were perusing the jobs posted, and I thought that we could get things done faster and more efficiently if we worked together."

Night took a sip from his drink. Dalmascan spirits were a bit strong for him usually, but he felt he needed to impress this Bangaa.

"So what do you say?" He held out his hand to inititiate a hand shake.

Aj'Katahn grumbled in agreement, but put his own hand on the Hume's to lay it down.

"We'll ssee about that hand gessture later. But even I cannot deny the lack of work meant only for one. If we were to take on a possting together, we may come into ssome reward worthy of our time." Aj'Katahn flipped to a previous sheet that had taken his interest, but he couldn't have done himself, "There iss one here I took interesst in. A Hunt, but beyond my own capabilitiess. Together, however, I think we can manage. It iss lonely creature, and takess it's anger out on a nearby village."

Aj'Katahn removed the leaflet from the others and set it in front of the Hume. The bill stated a reward that would promise at least a week's decent meals and lodging. The Mark happened to be a snake woman, a Lamia. For the two of them, it should prove no trouble. Right?

Zadio awoke again. It was getting late, and he hadn't left his bed. "Ought to get something to eat." Rolling off the bed, already in his clothes, Zadio opened the door.

Soon after, he emerged on the street. "Food, food..." Seemingly aimlessly, Zadio began to wander down the street.

OOC:

Silly me. I expected to fall behind in this while I was at Azn's. Two weeks goes by in this topic without a post...when will I ever learn?

BIC:

Kyrina glanced around again. "Well, maybe I can find someone that's not busy that can give advice on what to do." She eyed the nearly signs once more. "Bow & Arrow Shop"...no, they'll just try to sell me a bow. Which I have no idea how to fire. "Auction House"...I have very little money and nothing I desire spending it on. I suppose that leaves the "Pub". Kyrina pushed through the doors of the Pub and walked inside, only to find it fairly--rather, nearly completely--empty. The barman had a funny hat, and there were two people at the counter shuffling through some papers. Kyrina suddenly felt rather out of place with her stark white robes and bluish Cure Staff. Nonetheless: "Um...excuse me..."

OOC: Heh, guess I should post too ^_^;

IC: "Ugh, is it morning already?" Dante asked the bedroom ceiling as his clock woke him. Still drowsy as he stood up, he searched his floor for his clothes, and emerged from his room moments later sporting his usual clothing. After doing the usual morning routine, he grabbed his staff and coin purse in habit, and walked outside, planning to go to his friends.

However, as he was walking through the streets, he stopped paying attention for a bit and ended up in a part of the city he'd never been in before. Looking around, Dante saw a small pub located in between some tall buildings, and began running towards it in hope they'd have a map of this part of the city there. Some distance from the pub, however, Dante forgot to look around, and ran head-on into a man with black hair and robes.. "Sorry about that..." Dante said hastily as he crawled up from the ground.

I would have been way ahead of you with that if I'd seen him on MSN in the past several days. I don't see why you guys even get hyped up about Roleplays anymore. You're all so excited about the planning stages, so excited about the ending stages, so excited about who's going to join and what they're going to do. It all amounts to absolutely nothing. It's fairly obvious by now that very, very few people actually give a damn about any of this. Oh, for it to be 2005 again.

OOC: Amen to that. This Rp forum just isn't like it used to be. We REALLY need some way to rally new people into this forum, but for now, it's just one of the least active ones. I say, if we come up with a plan, then we must launch the Roleplay and Literary Society Resoration Project!

IC: "Wow, for how late it is, there sure are alot of people around..." Zadio muttered, completely oblivious to the fact that his alarm clock was set wrong, and it was actually still morning. Suddenly, some freak with blue hair crashed into him. "What the HELL was that for!" shouted Zadio, blasting a fire spell in the Cetra's face, before kicking him in the chest. "Piece of..." muttered Zadio, his eyes blaring red.

OOC: Short temper, hmm?
