Paige stopped and turned around, issuing an abrupt but apparently sincere apology. Kyrina slowed her pace quite a bit; the last thing she wanted was to have to stop walking to avoid running into Paige, with this whole thing she started with her question turning into some sort of scene.

Kyrina shot a small smile at Paige, looking her in the eye but then diverting her gaze as she spoke, "Don't worry about it. It wasn't my place to pry, anyway."

"Hate to blurt in so... Unannounced, but it's what us rogues do, you know" Delon had been trailing behind, taking in every bit of information he could, observing his surroundings with a wild eye. "But, I don't really understand *what* gives a person magical capability. I'm a fairly normal human being, at least, that's what I imagine people think of me, and I'd like to think my thievery and close quarter skills are quite good, but I want something more." he continued, directed at no one in particular.

"I guess what I'm getting at here, is would I be capable of learning some sort of magic? Even something mild would give me an edge."

"Most talented fighters often do this to a small degree by accident.. it's likely to some extent you already do this. The real trick is being able to do it on command and fully controlled rather than in some kind of fervent rush... ... hmm in fact the grand master of the school I know of, I have heard rumors that he's so good he can concentrate his physical energy into long ranged attacks... I have never seen that myself, his group keeps to themselves... part of why I have been venturing around the land is to make myself worthy of his teachings."

"It takes a while to master, and requires much the same skill as doing something similar without magic. In fact, there's a certain advantage ot not using magic; as a rule, magic users are less apt at dealing with non-mage opponents."
"While we try to avoid relying on magic to the exclusion of all else," Mabel continued, "even those who make an effort to train in non-magical skills at the Institute use magic as the first solution to all their problems. Tahu and I know swordplay, but we use our weapons more as magical focuses than melee weapons, just because we're overly reliant on magic. Dusk, with all his power, is probably even worse; I bet, stripped of his magic, he'd lose to a veteran swordsman quickly."
"Not only that, but mages also have a much easier time sensing other mages. If you want to be stealthy, the less magic you use, the better. However, it's well possible to gain that mana-sense that mages have without learning actual magic, which I would think would be quite useful for you, as it wouldn't hinder your ability to hide from magic users."
OOC: I think your best option is to try to gain some anti-mage skills (I figure, with magic being as powerful as it is, they have to exist) rather than magic itself. Plus, against Dusk, I'm thinking we need some sort of anti-magic to beat him.

Adam says to Mabel "It is possible to imitate it with white magic though to augment physical ability that way... but given we have not seen Dusk 'stripped of magic' I would not assume he is weak without it... somebody as unpredictable as he, any assumption could be fatal."

"Dusk is as deadly with his weapon as he is with magic, I know this first hand. As far as anti-magic goes, I don't think there are any items that exist that could help us. The color White would be our only hope of stripping him of magic, and it would take one powerful wizard or spell to subdue him. Even then, the effects might only last for a few seconds, or perhaps much longer. We'll have to ask the Headmaster...but I fear that the Institute might not have a White wizard strong enough to do what we ask."

Kyrina gave a soft chuckle in response to Jarrett's assumption. "Heh...no...I don't think I'd be nearly good enough to do anything like that. I'm still trying to learn basic White Magic as it is..."

"You know, my sister once attempted to teach me White magic. We started out by trying to revive a dead fish. It didn't end up too well." Jarrett chuckled at the memory. "My family has explored all types of magic, except for Black. My parents claim it to be "evil" and that people may use it for good, but are actually going to become evil. I don't think so, though. Black magic seems pretty interesting to me."

LanderbroX and I were discussing this on FB actually, he doesn't have internet, and I'm disappointed in my choice of character...

Well, Delon. The guys who have a good understanding of this story are trying to make your character learn magic so you're more....... interesting, I would guess. It might be possible to kill of your character and start anew.

That might be kinda pointless this late in the story.

Unless I create a character who is conveniently the brother of Delon, who happens to be very skilled in air (blue?) magic allowing him to travel at very fast speeds, etc etc. :weird:

Yea at this point I'm sure you could just pick a type and we could probably hack it out to help teach you. .. my short attempt at teaching something like that was kind of skipped unfortunately.
