"Of course." Caston said flatly, letting Tory's mutilated corpse fall to the ground with a thud. He was somewhat disgusted with what he had done to the man, but also satisfied in some sick way at the same time.

"We're not going to bury him. He didn't allow the denizens of the forest to remain at peace, neither shall he. Digging a hole for his body will further divert us anyway."

"He's already in a hole. We have two green mages here who can simply push over the ground you're standing on. And it's not for the sake of him resting in peace; he's covered in his toxic filth. I'd rather not subject people to having to walk over that or see it every time they pass." Trusting both that the decision could be made quickly enough and that two green mages could push a little earth over a body without much trouble, Paige began walking past the scene of the fight, taking a little wider route around to avoid being close to Tory's leftovers.

OOC: Wow...you know, that was rather cruel.
And when I said "wave," I wasn't talking about a literal wave, but more of what you would get if you waved a flamethrower around.
BIC: Mabel got off her horse and joined the rest of the party around the pit. Well, that was...rather sickening.
Quite. We should ask the Headmaster to look into this if we get a chance. This stuff is dangerous.

Tahu glared at Caston, shouting a bit to make himself heard across the pit. "That was disappointing. You might not have been at the Institute to learn this, but when you kill, make it clean. Don't drag it out, and don't use unnecessarily painful methods." Left unsaid was or you'll likely end up like Dusk or that mage in the pit, which only Mabel heard.

OOC: I have a question. Since Adam puts his own energy into his weapons and himself, what if someone did the same thing. But with the opposite type of energy. What would happen then?

BIC: "Ugh...... I hate taking lives," Jarrett muttered, "Hey Kyrina, I know you may not like it, but do you think you could purify this? Even if I closed up the trench, the toxins would still eat away at it over time, right?"

"Fine." Caston said dismissively. He followed Paige, trusting that the others would do their part. He was irritated at Tahu, to say the least.

"I don't need your lectures. I had an encounter of my own with that guy. He reanimated the corpses of people and animals alike that had fallen or been laid to rest in the forest. He used every avenue of sick, twisted Black Magic that he could get his hands on. Any fate he receives is better than he deserves." He paused. "And if I hear one more person imply that I'm going to become like Dusk, or worse; like Tory, I'll burst your lungs while you sleep." He smiled, of course, he wasn't entirely serious. But he was getting fed up with the comparison, though it might not be far off...

"This probably shouldn't be the case, but I'm a person first and a Wizard second. There are some Wizards who trade their humanity for knowledge and power...Tory was one, I daresay Dusk is another. At the Institute even, Wizards are expected to behave in a certain way and people may lose part of themselves that doesn't adhere to the guidelines. Finding balance is key."

Not to mention you can sacrifice accuracy, efficiency, and concentration for raw power...

OOC: I'm not sure I follow you, riptide.

Infused their energy into Adams.

OOC: The energy thing? Bleh... I'm not sure how to explain it exactly..... Say Kyrina infuses her staff with pure good energy, while say Dusk, infuses whatever staff he might use with pure dark energy. Like opposites. Yin-Yang etc. Would it cause some tiny explosion or something catastrophic?
*ignores Discrim's post and point to my one explaining how he can have more flash powder* It's not over yet, dude.

OOC: I don't *think* so...Adam's abilities are unique, and the only reaction you could make is if you could make a magnetic field of your own to counter his.

The black and white thing, no there wouldn't be an explosion, at most they would counteract eachother like when Jaron purified or moved back the toxin. Blue and red counter eachother obviously, the traditional water vs fire, but there wouldn't be any sort of magical reaction beyond that.

The armor has a few components, but more simply just two main parts
The outer shell which is thick and hardened And the inner workings which have a hard structure but are mostly magic conducting elements like gold and silver and various other things and symbols etc. The outer layer acts as shielding for both impact and magical attacks as well as suppressing the amount of an energy signal he gives off.

If, for example he had completely bare-bones unshielded arms and leg-enhancements
then a more-skilled wizard would more easily be able to take control and it would be vulnerable to other sorts of magical attacks.

I don't know about "opposites" in energy though... I made the design to be shielded from outside sources of energy, otherwise he would be perpetually plagued by it.

BIC:
Adam went around picking up a smoldering armload of the remaining coal on the ground from his earlier attack. He strutted up to where Tory was thrown in and dumped the hot coals in. "The sulfur smell should help cover up what ever he is stinking of at least..." He swept a fist away to the side to roll a layer of hardened clay over the top.

"Suppose I was lucky not to have been to any such institute. The way you categorize things seems very restrictive. It is all energy and power, the way you use it is what matters." Adam said finding a ledge to rest on. "I believe even the mmm non-magic users can benefit from the idea. Energy comes from two sources, external and internal.... External are things like the wind, water, plants and the land. Internal things are your own from within yourself..... What most people call a mage is one who uses their internal energy to manipulate external sources. But I have known of many fighters and warriors who effectively use their internal energy to enhance their abilities without the aid of any mechanism such as my own."

Mmm...it's more the taking lives I don't like, Kyrina thought in response to Jarrett's question. Already at the edge of the trench, she attempted to do something to purify the toxic water below, but was more or less having just as much luck as when the toxic ground had been spreading towards Caston earlier. It was better, but not fully purified. "I don't know, Jarrett. I'm better at moving toxins out or away from people than breaking them down completely. This is probably as good as I'll be able to get it."

Ugh... He's not listening, is he?
Did you really expect him to? He's gained a large amount of power in a small time. He feels like he doesn't have to listen to us.
The thing I'm most afraid of is that he might be right. He's the one that's going to take down Dusk, but what happens after that?

"At least now that foul stench won't be present to the rest of the world." The sun was starting to tilt into setting as Paige continued to walk the path north of Rurm, Windrow being the intended target before branching off to the east. However, she immediately recalled that she was leading a party forward, not one single person. So, probably having enough of a lead on everyone except Grageon to stop without losing time, Paige turned around and asked (for once loudly enough for everyone to hear), "Would you rather head to his lair in a straight line, or visit Windrow to rest before making the trek?"

---

Dusk, once again on his bed and looking into the orb, was still in a thoughtful state about what he just saw transpire between both Tory and Caston's party and Caston's party itself. Though the skill and power were there, the control was not. Also, the morale within the party itself seemed to be lacking. Would his quest wind up failing and have to start all over?

"Well, Tahu and I are going to report to the Institute and probably gear up for the raid, but we can travel much faster than you, so if you're going straight to Dusk, we'll meet you on the way," Mabel responded. "If you want us to get you anything while we're in town, just tell us."
OOC: Remember, Tahu and Mabel have horses. I'm going to have to think up a list of supplies for the raid, so if anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears.

OOC: And THIS is where Discrimin could come into play, fashioning explosives or something...he could refill on flash powder, etc etc. WE'RE STILL THINKING OF YOU, MAN

All I can think of outside the normal food/water and everyday supplies are infiltration things like a grapple or ladder? (I have a general idea what the lair is, but...I need an excuse to use a grappling hook!) Explosive stuff to blow a hole in the wall or open a TREASURE CHEST...I dunno. Get creative.

BIC: "We almost have to stop off in Windrow, I'm not sure if we have enough supplies to last. We also need to be conscious of the possible outcome of a battle with Dusk...if I am to die, I'd like to have one last relaxing evening, if at all possible."

That's not something a leader should say to his group...but it is something an honest man would say. Caston was truly downtrodden as well as physically and mentally drained. He partly wanted to return to Windrow to address the Headmaster and give a report, possibly receive some reassurance or advice in turn.

There was nothing to do besides follow Paige until sundown.
