His creatures were pretty much slain, but now it was pretty much Caston and Tory surrounded by a pit of toxin. In the short time it took Caston to send his sharp air's magic down to the creatures, however, Tory had planted his arm's blade tip into the ground to begin spreading a vile rot across the small ring in Caston's direction. Tory may have trusted it would reach Caston before he could notice it, but the mage had began to swing his staff back at Tory's feet. He had but to push his arm out against the staff, catching their two weapons in another deadlock.

Having their weapons caught again, Tory took one step to Caston, reaching his free hand out for Caston's head, hoping to even touch it and attempt to blast his mind into insanity.

Caston needs some help, at least in the form of a distraction Adam ran toward the duel between Tory and Caston and jumped 2/3rds of the distance there still leaving a lot of open space between him and the fight. If a maginetic pulse can destroy a charged field, I wonder what effect it may have on somebody who has enchanted themselves. At the least, it should disrupt his corruption. He thought while charging up a large amount of energy for a burst. Should the need arise, he can unleash a close range blast like he did in the town, but he wanted to focus enough into a beam at Tory that it would have some substantial effect.

OOC: Hey Discrim, I still have that dart, and I'm a green mage. If you know the natural materials, I can get you some more. You could also say that some rubbed onto your hands and stuck. (IE: Your hands are sweaty, and the powder sticks.)

Disregard this post:

"Woah woah woah, everyone wait a second, there's a plot line I need to take care of." Delon yelled. Rory's character then appeared out of thin air and Delon slit his throat. "Okay, continue."

Toxin was creeping in around Caston's feet, and that twisted fool Tory was reaching for him with is un-mangled arm.

Keeping his staff locked with Tory's blade, Caston did the simplest thing he could think to do. Knowing quite simply that legs are longer than arms, he stepped forward and made to kick Tory in the stomach. At the same time, he attempted to move Tory's sabre-arm wide to take him off balance and further open up his midsection.

OOC: You never said which one of your arms was mutated. Well if you did, I missed it. :?:

Right arm is the sword-arm with the wound that led to mutation.

BIC...

"Urk!" Even without seeing it, the kick to the gut caused Tory to double over, and even worse his arm had been twisted away. Out of sheer instinct and near panic, Tory rolled over and allowed himself to land on his back, freeing his blade from the staff to attempt to bring it up with its initial momentum. With any luck, Caston would have a head split wide open, or he would remain in place too long as the rot on the ground continued to stretch outward, nearing the boy's feet.

OOC: I -could- have said you stepped into it, having moved forward to kick. But I did forget to specify it's not a slowly-growing rot.

OOC: So are you completely surrounded by this toxin? Because if you are, I'll continue to watch this fight from a distance. Otherwise, I'm going to belly-flop on top of Tory from a large height with a lot of weight/momentum behind me.

OOC: Think of it as a small arena. The ground is covered in a rot that's seeking to spread onto anyone it touches (meaning it's a timed fight), starting from Tory's side and heading for Caston's. Also, the moat / pit / crater ring around the fight is full of toxin left over from the creatures that went down and died. So a bellyflop would be an open invitation to be nearly eaten alive by the diseased ground, unless Kyrina's able to get to you.

OOC: It also completely cut off any help from reaching Caston. Nice going, Jarrett.
BIC: Tahu and Mabel skidded to a halt, stopping short of the crevice that encircled Caston and the other mage.
Great.
Well, I'm certain that our mysterious mage is using dark magic, and he's most definitely insane.
Always a good combination. Guess it's up to Caston...again. I hate it when it winds up that way, and I bet it'll end up like that when we finally face Dusk in a straight-up battle, too.

OOC: I was going to have Kyrina use the bridge as soon as Adam/Jarrett ran across, but neither of them ever said they did, and then Caston turned the entire thing into a Razor Wind. Should I assume the creatures on the bridge all made a beeline for Caston and died in the trench or did I accidentally let Kyrina get stranded by waiting too late to move?

OOC: The entire fight is revolving around mutation. The earth is toxic, the creatures are deformed, and even Tory's had his way with his own body. White magic is pretty much the anti-everything here. So there's not much wrong you can do except shine a holy light and put everything back to normal.
And Tahu, last I recall, fire and water aren't short-ranged things. (Though I'm surprised nobody noticed you creating fire in waves earlier; it was supposed to be one of the few Dusk-only traits. XD)

Adam had gathered a large amount of energy for his maginetic pulse. He held both arms tight to his side focusing his energy to the arms for a few seconds. With a purplish glow around the armor on his arms he takes two steps forward while thrusting his arms toward Caston and Tory to where he focued the shockwave of energy. A brief flash of light around him happened as he unleashed the wave. He had hoped it would destroy the decay like it did in the town and what ever effects it had on Tory would be a bonus. In the back of his mind he also hoped Caston would both be ok and seize the opportunity.

Grageon sat down and pulled out some dried meat from his pack, and watched the fight he couldn't take part in.

"Go Caston! You can do it! Rah Rah Ree, kick him in the knee!"

OOC: I'll assume most of the creatures on the bridge moved for Caston and died in the trench, since even Grageon is just sitting down.

BIC:

Since Adam and Jarrett didn't seem to be using the bridge and one of the newcomers just jumped the river instead, Caston had taken away the steps of air and whipped it into a wind which apparently killed all of the mutated creatures in the trench. In the meantime, he was practically fighting Tory one-on-one, and it took a couple of seconds before Kyrina realized that Tory could possibly repeat what he had done to his arm on Caston if they weren't careful. What's more, he seemed to simply be a hotbed for mutation and decay, as it looked to be spreading across their miniature arena towards Caston, who may or may not have been aware of it. Mutation and decay...something I can help fix in people, but who knows about other forms of it? Still, Caston's in too much danger not to try! Kyrina started running across the bridge towards them. Based on what was going on, it looked like Caston had noticed the toxin and was trying to stay out of Tory's grip, which was good. Adam suddenly unleashed another wave of energy, but Kyrina had doubts about if whatever magic he held was going to have the same effect as earlier, where the spells themselves were unleashed because they were contained within gemstones.

Upon reaching the edge of the trench, just off the field of battle, Kyrina focused on forcing back the creeping toxins from Caston. She couldn't tell how well it was working from a distance. It seemed to be slowing, but not by much. Argh, this works better on people...

...

...on people!

Kyrina immediately gripped her staff all the tighter and refocused all of her efforts directly on Tory. She had absolutely no idea what would happen, if anything, or to what end her attempts would bring her. Truth be told, she had never practiced White Magic on anyone that wasn't a willing participant, either, so who knows if Tory would be able to resist it. She focused not quite on actual healing, but on forcing the toxins and mutation away from Tory's body. He was indeed the source of it all, so if he was what was poisoning the ground moving towards Caston, this was probably a better approach anyway. Kyrina aimed for Tory's weaponized arm in particular--it was rather scary to think such a thought, but by forcing the mutation and toxin away without healing the arm itself, she was hoping it was possible to shred his arm to pieces such that it became unusable in the fight.

"Gah!" Without any warning, the metallic man's ability had created a blast similar to the one that had left Rurm cleansed of much of Dusk's leftover destructive residue. The force of it even caused Tory to practically roll onto his side, needless to say too off balance to be able to restore the ground's twisted state.

Tory's eyes caught Adam, and he managed to shriek out "I'll deal with you la--AAAHH!" Blinded more by his rage in addition to the blast of magnetic power, Tory found himself unable to start preventing the cleansing of his body until well after his power over his arm had been unraveled. Even trying to restore it at all, his arm's mutated state had been washed away, leaving him with a very limp, misshapen limb that could only hang at his side. Truly, a trophy to his grotesque nature and hatred of all things natural. That hate flashed in his eyes as he staggered to his feet and glared at Caston. "If I go down... I'm taking you with me!" Tory lunged, reaching his good hand out once more for Caston's face, intending to unravel his existence completely if he could connect. Such sadistic desire was coursing through his veins that even his hand seemed to be rotting and darkening as it grew closer to its target.

OOC: Being applied through the hand. If the hand makes physical contact (while Tory is still alive), both will happen that Caston goes as bat-shit insane as Tory is, and his physical body will start self-mutilating itself. Needless to say, I'm hoping Tory dies before this happens. XD

Grageon saw Tory running at Caston with insanity in his eyes. He quickly stood up, took a few steps back, and sprinted full speed at the trench. The Toxins were being pushed back by Kyrina, so he had more room to get at Tory. Before Tory even knew what hit him, Grageon smashed into him with his shoulder from Tory's blind side, knocking him clean off his feet, and sent him sailing toward the crevice.

OOC: Think this.

Though Grageon's attack would have likely finished Tory off, Caston caught him and held him steadfastly in midair.

"You want power, taint, mutation so badly..." He whispered.

The trench was so full of toxin that it could be categorized as a small lake. Of course there were air bubbles and molecules in the corroded liquid.

Caston turned Tory upside-down in midair, only holding him by his ankles so the rest of him remained exposed. He then began spraying the toxin from the trench onto Tory's body. He wouldn't stop until the crag was bone dry.

"Almost... got... him!" were Tory's last thoughts before the surprise attack slammed into him from behind. He was out cold from the knock. It was actually merciful in its own way; he was unable to feel himself being twisted upside down and dissolved by the leftovers of his own work. The moment his heart stopped, the skull floating within the river crumbled, releasing a shine of the energy it had stolen away. The river's water ran clear, albeit a little muddy, and the general atmosphere seemed to lighten considerably without all the foul decay to spread or threaten the party.

Paige began walking down the bridge, collecting some water from the river to flow around her in a whirling motion before whipping it into the crater that Caston was using toxic liquids from. He was dead, even risking falling apart from the liquids eating at him... The sight itself wasn't a fun one. Pushing that from her mind, Paige swirled the water and ran it in fast rings around the pool, gathering and diluting the toxin within the orb she was moving. Once it had been gathered, she simply tossed her creation back toward Rurm, neatly splashing the wall in the middle. "It would be a little more productive to just drop him in and bury him; he's taken enough of our time and focus."
