Market. There's very little chance of actually proving someone mafia, and it's a fact of life that the village is going to hit a few innocents before it roots out all the mafia.

...There's probably an interesting psychological study to be done there.

Not in mafia you're not. The only way to 'prove' someone guilty is to see them lynched or killed. Otherwise, we're making educated guesses or informed decisions at most.

The points are assembled in front of you. You've done nothing to refute them.

Why did you change your vote on me so quickly, without any further questioning?

Elaborate on your vote for Aragorn.

And you might as well claim, since it seems you're going to die.

And in terms of 'what would you like to argue about'. Why would you let me dictate said argument? I've already voiced my support of top's points and added at least one semi-strong one of my own. Respond to the above, for starters.

I'm inclined to agree with the sentiments of the others, the vote against me being most prominent among them. Market

The chimes of "Market! Market!" carried on into the day. Market Man6 failed to defend himself, speaking too passively to the masses to sway them away from lynching him. In the end, he gathered even more votes than was needed, and was led to the gallows. "Innocent until proven guilty!?" Market exclaimed. "Not in this town," Lander said, as the lever was pulled and Market dropped to his death.

Market didn't have any evidence on him, so the Villagers headed to his house to see if he was indeed a member of the Mafia. But the only thing they found was a notebook on the table, filled with scribbled notes that didn't even follow the lines on the pad. The notes were in some sort of code, though, such that only Market would know what they meant. One of the cleverer Villagers pointed out that it seemed like the notes had been made in the dark of night, hence their positioning all over the page. It seemed the Village had just lost a treasure trove of information, one that only Market would have been able to decipher.

Market Man6 - Insomniac - Lynched Day 3

Perhaps all was not lost, though. Someone had stopped the previous night's Mafia kill--could it be done twice in a row?

Night 3 has begun
(ends ~9:05 AM on Saturday the 19th)

The next morning, the town came together in the square, but only 6 of the 7 remaining Villagers showed up. They momentarily waited around to see if Riptide was ever going to wake up and join them, but soon enough they left for his house. Their soaring hopes faded when they didn't meet him coming back the other way, as Lander had done. Red flags sprang up in everyone's minds when the door to Riptide's house was ajar--and pushing it the rest of the way open, a gruesome scene awaited them. Riptide's medical certificate adorned the wall above his fireplace, and the Mafia must have realized that someone with the power to heal should not be taken lightly. His wounds were so deep that there was no way he could have saved himself, even if he wanted to.

Riptide - Doctor - Slain Night 3

The Mafia's two kills were the Doctor-in-training and the Doctor, respectively. The Villagers shuddered to think that there may not be anyone left to protect them from the terrors that came in the night. Their only hope was to strike back before too many of them were lost...

Day 4 has begun
(ends ~6:30 CST on Monday, May 21st)
6 players remain - 4 votes to lynch

I am the Detective. I was told I cannot investigate myself, so I cannot be sure of my sanity, but here are my results.

Night One: Landerpurex - Villager
Night Two: Aragorn Ix - Villager
Night Three: Tahu1000 - Villager

By process of elimination, Monk Basher and Scar are mafia.

Very convenient that you can't investigate yourself, and you bring this up the day after you engineer a lynch against a villager. I don't buy it for a second.

Engineered? Hardly. Most players were already suspicious of Market before I voted for him. I only went after him on Day Three because I had investigated Aragorn and found I was wrong about him. You can see how I completely drop the subject of Aragorn despite pushing on him the day before.

Market was the most scummy player alive. I stand by this after his death.

Monk Basher

Well detected. Both were on the Market Man train as well. I've had my suspicions of Scar, and Monk is a wily veteran so I can't say I saw him as an immediate threat.

As I said. The most damning evidence at this point is that BOTH voted for Market Man.

I am also inclined to believe that the mafia have a tracker type role. Otherwise, myself or Top would be dead tonight, not Riptide. Unless they were playing a proverbial game of chess with Riptide the doctor, assuming he would save me or Top as we are high profile targets.

Also note that I am voting at this point because I'm leaving for work for nine hours. Everyone else should withhold their vote to allow for a counterclaim and/or explanation from the accused.

Well, in absence of a counterclaim, I'm inclined to believe Top's claim and results. He's obviously not paranoid, and if he were insane, the game would already be over. It's rather unlikely that he's random, so that leaves either normal or naive. I'm going to assume that Jaron wouldn't give us a naive detective without a normal one, so, with no other claims, I'm almost certain Top's claim is legit.

That said, with only six remaining town members, we've only got one chance to hit a mafia today, and we've got time left today. I'm going to withhold a hammer until Monk posts.

I didn't vote for Market actually, you did, Top did, Riptide did, Aragorn did, Monk did, and Tahu did. I didn't even post during the lynch.

Oh that's right. You haven't done much of anything this game. Now you're pointing out that fact.

The key is that you're pointing out that you didn't post during the lynch, not that you withheld your vote...which is what, I believe, a townie would say. So were you not on that train because you believed Market was innocent, because you were away from your computer, or was it perhaps because you KNEW he was innocent?

That was my mistake, then. You must understand how scummy you look, though. And to top it all off, a flimsy attack on a claimed power role followed with an OMGUS vote? Tsk.

Yea, its been a combination of things honestly. After the last three games I've felt a bit burnt out and I just recently moved back home so real life caught up with me. I'll admit, I havn't been very active thus far this game and it has taken being accused of being Mafia for me to get interested again.

The biggest reason I didn't post during the Market train was because I didn't like the reasoning behind it. Market played the same way last game, yet he was town then as well. I didn't post because of my lack of interest in the game, and my not wanting to get into an argument over something that so many people were already convinced of by the time I got to the thread. While that is Fuzzy Bunny of me to have taken that stand, I believe that Top is using my lack of activity to his advantage.

As we saw last game, when he faked a claim to try and save his life, he has no trouble lieing through his teeth about his role. He does it well, and calculates his every move. He led the train on Market yesterday, and is using that as well as fabricated investigation results to try and wipe out the town.

I think that is best illustrated by this:
Quote:
You can see how I completely drop the subject of Aragorn despite pushing on him the day before.

He pushed against Aragorn at first, and then used that pressure he created later to his advantage by saying he had investigated him and found he was Villager. Aragorn is then more likely to vote with him because Top dropped the pressure, and says he is a villager.

Hence my vote on him, he is fake claiming and using his early posts to pull voters to his way of thinking more easily.

You trust a non-certified detective at this crucial stage? One who has conveniently 'admitted' his unsure sanity, especially after my hijinx from last game?

It's so cute. :3

Monk Jaron actually knows how to run a proper game. With only a single detective, it's almost guaranteed that he's sane, especially if he's disallowed from self-investigation. I've already posted my logic as to why Top's almost certainly sane, but to add to it, he has a villager result on a confirmed villager, thus ruling out insane or paranoid.

I'm pretty sure I have the role assortment figured out for this game: the village has a detective, doctor, med student, and insomniac, whereas the mafia have a godfather and a tracker/watcher role. The mafia's second role lets them see night visitations, so to compensate, the village gets a back-up doctor, and I'm guessing the insomniac just visits people, but doesn't do anything, acting as a red herring to the mafia.

First of all, try not to be so bitter over a game man. Secondly, there is never a guarantee he is sane, especially in a varient where the town has a Doc and a back-up Doc. Third, the only proof we have of his role is his word, which is tainted with the blood of Market, and of course he has a Villager result on a confirmed Villager. What sane person would try and fake claim without making sure they mde their claim as realalistic as possible?

No one would, it is a perfect way to make you claim seem more legitimate.
