What do you mean, "implant a fish"? Are fish plants, or living things?

Also, if you knew what the heck you were doing, you'd open a chasm or something to drain the toxin into the ground and away from us. >.>

OOC: I thought I mentioned two things. 1: I'm kinda confused, 2: I'm getting lazy.
Also, I mean like a mutated fish. That Tory mutated with that skull thing. :?:
v Pointless post v

BIC: Jarrett had finally caught up with the group, surveying some of the mayhem from before. He had been sprinting to catch up, and tripped himself to not slam into anyone.

OOC: Sorry about being completely gone. I was looking for a good place to jump back in, but then i lost track of where things were going and missed a few opportunities. However, I've read through what I've missed, and this seems like a good one.
BIC: The wreckage left by Dusk's attack was bad, worse than the attack on the Institute, but Tahu and Mabel had seen worse. They had been rooting out a minor gang of miscreants halfway across Rurm when Dusk's attack happened, and they quickly finished the miscreants off, turned them over to Rurm's guards and went to help pull people out. By the time they got there, everything seemed mostly under control, so, after helping the last few victims out of the rubble, Tahu and Mabel asked the nearest guard what had happened. He didn't know much, but between what he and the other guards had seen and mental impressions Mabel garnered from the victims, they figured out the gist.
So Caston was here. Did you get where he went?
Out towards that big bridge.

Both of them flinched a bit and looked toward the huge buildup of magical energy that they suddenly felt. It started with some dark mana, and quickly grew and gained energy from all colors.
That's him, they both thought simultaneously, and mounted their horses and rode towards the battle.

The situation looked pretty bad at a glance. Caston and his ragtag group, which was quite larger than it had been back at the beginning, was facing a small army of mutated river animals, apparently controlled by a young mage. I got the leader, Mabel thought to Tahu, then, as soon as she was close enough, formed a spherical vacuum around the controller's head, slowing her horse as she did to let Tahu ride around in front, blasting the creatures with a wave of fire.
OOC: Unless the corruption has made them fearless, they're not going to like that. Also, if it matters, Tahu and Mabel are coming in from one side of the wall which Adam made.
Since this is the real first battle Tahu and Mabel have been in (about time), I'm going to do a quick reminder of some basic stuff about them. Between their common training and tele-link, they fight more as one person with two bodies than two separate people, and, unless otherwise stated, are going to remain close to each other. While they both lack the sheer magical power that Caston or Dusk have, they've got more skill and finesse (at least than Caston; Dusk is probably about on par with them as far as skill, but he has that skill with every element instead of just one).

OOC: The corruption hasn't but the mind control has. And we agreed long ago that they're -not- equal to Dusk. :p

BIC...

Even despite recognizing the air around him being pushed aside by the mage's efforts, Tory was cocky enough to utter, "Luckily I keep a spare." From his pocket, he withdrew another skull, very distinctly shaped like a miniature human skull. Lifting it, he allowed the energy from Mabel's attempts at a vacuum, dispersing the effect and allowing the air flow to return to mostly normal. "At least you've got the right ideas now... C'mon, don't disappoint me!"

OOC: I realize this fight is a sort of catch 22. Magic gets drained away around Tory, but physically, he can mutate. But he is still human; I'll spoil it that the largest problem with the party currently is that they're too far away, minus Delon.

OOC: To be fair, we were in Rurm all of about like...three hours, which didn't leave Delon much time to do anything. 8-[ I'm sure you'll get something, though!

BIC:

Kyrina didn't know quite what to do once the fighting broke out, so she instinctively took a couple of steps backward instead, staff in hand, sharpened edge pointing outward. Their melee weapons are dissolving from contact with the mutated creatures--which I think are too far gone for me to even consider trying to remove the toxin from or anything. Healing magics aren't going to be of any use during the fight itself, surely. What else can I do? Augment other magics, maybe...but I'd probably be more of a hindrance than an asset in that regard if it was something like maintaining Caston's weapon. And amateur lightbending...perhaps, if I can kind of bend light in a certain direction, I can make an attack look like it's coming from somewhere else? Even if that only worked slightly, that kid on the bridge wouldn't be able to simply sidestep an incoming projectile anymore. He's being so cocky that that turtle only missed him by inches anyway. The farther away and larger an object is, though, the harder it is to conceal. But this is the heat of the moment; there's no room for "I'll learn how to do this later."

Having spent less than 24 hours with the group itself, Kyrina wasn't quite sure what abilities everyone truly had, so from her place near the back, she called to Grageon (and hopefully within earshot of Delon, too, though he was much closer to Tory.) "Does anyone have, like...a throwing knife, or arrow, or projectile, or something?"

OOC: Another skull? Interesting. It only absorbs magic, right?
BIC: That skull...
I got it.

Mabel let go of the vacuum and instead created a wall of wind, forcing back the creatures while Tahu grabbed a small rock from the ground. He heated one side up and aimed the cold side at the skull in the hands, then let the heated side explode, causing the other half to fly towards the skull faster than an arrow from a bow, gaining speed as it passed through the wall of wind.

OOC: I'm using skulls quite literally to absorb the energy out of whatever someone's using magically, returning it to its regular form. I.e. water condensed to be a whip would turn into a puddle of water again.
And if I wanted to be cheap-ish, I could make a dodge attempt, but this seems to go along well with the "hide it via light bending" idea.

OOC: Except Kyrina has relatively little idea of who Tahu and Mabel are, and since the rock was traveling faster than a fired arrow, her chance was over before it began. I can't in good conscience say she saw her chance and took it in that fraction of a second. :P

I'll make a post after Tory (assumably) evades the rock or something. (It'll probably include using knowledge what Tory does to have Kyrina get Tahu to try again.)

Does this also get rid of momentum? Either way, I think my rock is safe; it in and of itself isn't magical in any way (except for perhaps a small amount of residual red mana from the heating).

"I had a plan for a projectile weapon, but there is no way I can construct it at the moment. We will simply have to make due with what we have." Adam responds and plunges a hand into the soft riverside ground. This land has almost nothing... ... unless He took a moment to concentrate on the depth of the stone bed. It all seemed like mud, just thicker mud the deeper he went until finding it. He pulled up both hands raising them concentrating on the coal bed. Eventually a column of dirt rises from the ground splitting as it rises to reveal the large clump of coal which Adam pushes in front of everyone. He breaks it down to manageable blocks with a hammer and says with his voice machine to Tahu. "Can your flames light this? If so, it would make much more effective ammunition against this guy and his beasts."

The rock came faster than the turtle, if it were able to be imagined. Tory had to instinctively drop his skull and twist to evade it, resulting in a shattered set of bones falling to his feet as he was in mid-twist. "Whoo! Guess I shouldn't write you people off after all!" The greeting of a large coal block on the ground shook him out of his cocky stupor. He needed to get serious, and probably quickly; Delon was still behind him, and now he had a very potentially too-big-to-dodge projectile next. His beasts were being beaten back, so Tory had to withdraw a small ivory throwing knife to hurl toward the center of the stone just before its breakdown started. Hopefully, the corrosive effect imbued within the projectile would take out a good deal of the new stone.

OOC: By "new stone," do you mean the coal?
BIC: Ok, that guy's good. Where'd he pull that coal from?
"Sure, I can light that, but I don't have a way to throw it. Just chuck it and I'll light it in midair." Meanwhile, Mabel kept up the wind wall, and Tahu added some fire to it to reinforce the message to the corrupted creatures to stay away.

The two wizards Caston had met way back in Windrow finally met up with the group, and just in time. While Tahu distracted Tory for a moment, Caston began to devise a plan to reach the foul black wizard.

He made the air directly in front of him and just above ground level more dense. He then stepped on it to see if it could hold his weight. He sank into the air as if it were water, so he set to work making it as thick as he could. He let the water held on his staff fall to the ground. Then he tested the step again. This time, it worked.

Caston then began to set to work making a series of air-steps that would lead him over the corrosion and the corrupted beasts, across the bridge, and towards Tory. Once his air path was about half finished, Caston brandished his staff, prepared a gust of wind at his back for speed, and charged Tory.

He ran along, making more steps as he advanced. As he was running, a brilliant idea entered his mind. White Wizards could manipulate other magic, so it would make sense that they could maintain a spell of another color.

"Kyrina! Try to maintain the energy for these steps, then all of us can get across the bridge!" Caston shouted as he turned his attention back to Tory.

The ivory dagger hit and Adam created a burst of the remaining coal to knock the thing away before it could hurt anyone. "And what, did he honestly think that is all I could get?..... Get ready fire boy." Adam said as he took a battle stance clenching his fists and bringing both arms to his side crouching down. "Focus your flame on the hole in the ground." Raising one arm with explosive force a geyser of coal and rock seemingly flowed up (presumably being ignited by tahu).

When the flaming stone reached high enough, he jumped forward and pointed. The flaming coal followed lunging forward then spreading out to rain down the massive chunks.

Grageon picked up his axe that he had used as a golf club. It was slightly bent and corroded, but it was better than nothing. He followed Caston's lead on the water steps.

OOC@Tanks: Air, not water.

BIC:

While hiding a projectile by bending light might have worked, neither Grageon nor Delon seemed to have one. It was only after the newcomer wizard had fired an exploding rock as a projectile did Kyrina realize she missed her chance. Regardless, it seemed to work, and he and Adam seemed to be teaming up on some sort of fire and brimstone idea.

Okay, well, no healing, no immediate lightbending; that puts me back to either staying out of the way or helping with a spell that's already in action. It was then that Kyrina noticed Caston walking up what seemed to be near-invisible steps made of dense air. That would be perfect; maybe if she worked on the steps, Caston would have more focus left on what attack he might launch? "Kyrina! Try to maintain the energy for these steps, then all of us can get across the bridge!" Or, that worked too. Why limit the steps to a one-time use for a single person? He didn't have to tell her twice. Kyrina hurried over to where the first step was located and focused her energy on keeping it (and the rest of the steps upward from it) as solid as possible. It was strange to interact with a different color of magic; for lack of a better explanation, it seemed less like when she would do something herself, be it healing or lightbending, and more like the magic was already there, and her goal was to stop it from escaping or falling apart. Less creation, more maintenance. Which, she supposed, was exactly what was going on anyway, so it made perfect sense.

Grageon was the first to follow Caston up. The step seemed to give a little as if one stepped on sand, so Kyrina strengthened her resolve and further focused on keeping the air steps solid, blocking out some of the things around her that didn't concern her, such as Tahu and Adam's tactics. "Everyone that wants across the bridge; now would probably a good time," she said to no one in particular.

"Fire boy"? Mabel suppressed a mental giggle at that one. Rolling his eyes, Tahu lit the geyser. With all the coal in it, it took barely any flame for the whole thing to turn into a conflagration of volcanic proportions. Turning his attention back to the fight, Tahu saw Caston and his group crossing the river on a bridge made of air. Not exactly the best way to do it, Mabel thought. Shall we show him? Summoning a gust of wind, Mabel and Tahu rode towards the river and, riding the air current, jumped the toxic water, landing safely on the other side.

The idea was to make the air bridge so *others*, you know, those who aren't wizards, could get across as well.
