Grageon helped an elderly woman out, who had a badly broken leg. He carried her over to safety before thinking for a moment.

"Caston...maybe we should find this guy, and get out of here. All these people have been on edge for months about something like this happening, and now it happens right when we all show up to town. We could easily be blamed for this, and that's a hell of a lot of trouble I'd rather avoid right now."

There was truth in Grageon's words, and it was something Kyrina was wondering about herself--something she'd even already considered whilst in Rage's clutches. "I...kind of agree with Grageon," she said aloud. In the interim, Kyrina hurried over to the injured woman that Grageon had helped out of the crater and started using her White Magic to ease her pain.

"He seems determined to save the world from everything." Adam replied. "But with that kind of power, it would be tough to say the least. I figured he was powerful from the residual power about him, but ..... he hides it well. I had no idea this well." Walking around among rubble of houses and shops he comes past a burned out blacksmith shop. Figures... in the nic of too late here's an anvil. Looks like it was abandoned before the fighting broke out even. The equipment was long-since robbed leaving about nothing behind other than some bundles rusty iron rods and a nice sized hardwood log. Oh well, I can at least make use of these. Raw material is no use to a thief who won't work for a living. Don't worry old smith, you may be gone but I'll put it to good use He silently mouthed picking up the stuff. Moving the log he found a generously sized bundle of wire he hoisted up as well. "You are most welcome." He replied to the shop as he exited.

"I'm a blue wizard, yes...calm, collected, even in the most dire of situations. But I'm also a person. A person caught in the tangled web of a madman, with no control over my own fate..." Caston mumbled, barely audible.

He turned to Paige. "If I know Dusk at all, he *wants* us to come to his hideout. Me, at least. In the interest of time, I'm trusting you to be our guide. You're a good wizard, but I believe you can guess what will happen if you try anything treacherous."

Caston recalled the letter from the Headmaster to give to Dastal. He sought out the Duke, who was directing people nearby in the rescue effort. "Excuse me, sir," Caston said, "but could you give this to Dastal and tell him that we won't be needing his service? We've found a guide who has lived in Dusk's lair." The Duke's first reaction was a raised eyebrow that said 'Oh?' Then, the questions flowed in his eyes. Who was the guide? Why were they helping the group?

Frankly, it was none of his business. He had his hands full with rebuilding Rurm, a good, strong Rurm. He seemed to know this, and simply said "I'll make sure he gets the message, Caston. May Vera watch over you, and speed you to triumph."

Caston returned to the group. "Lead the way." He said to Paige.

Jarrett had found nice, quiet spot with noone around to vent his anger. "I cannot believe that he- GAH!" , and with that thought, he punched a tree out of pure anger, snapping the trunk like it was a twig, and it fell a few feet from a house. Realizing his mistake, he fixed the trunk, growing a new tree Releasing the energy by destroying a tree wasn't very smart, but it had worked. He walked back to where the group was, getting a few scared stares from the people who had saw him.

OOC: I'm getting very lazy...... ^_^;

Paige nodded and, trusting the party to be out of the doomed city as much as she was, turned on her heel to begin walking immediately toward the bridge. It was thankfully a short distance to climb out of the crater, and instinctively Paige soaked up the loose energy over every bit of earth she stepped upon; cleaning up after Dusk was a long-standing job of hers, and that usually included the magical energy he left behind after his training sessions. The curt walk continued until the first step upon the stone bridge just north of the city; at the other end, directly under the afternoon sun bearing down on him, was Tory. He was tossing a small animal skull up and down like a ball, catching it without looking as he watched the party approach. "Last time you got away 'cause I wanted you to. But don't think the addition of that one little beauty is going to keep me from ending you all this time."

He tossed the skull into the river below the bridge, soon laughing wildly as the water briefly ran purple and green. It was indeed as toxic as it looked for that moment, as most foliage and earth at the base of the river soon was rotten with decay. Worse yet was the immediate appearance of some deformed, mutated animals from below water. Frogs and turtles, dripping with the same toxic slime the river shortly became, crawled up the shores quite rapidly at the party as Tory beckoned the party to join in the decay.

After helping to heal the woman's broken leg, Kyrina joined the rest of the group in leaving Rurm.

OOC: Just to say she didn't get left behind.

And what is Tory referring to? :P The (two) girls currently in the party, or an object?

OOC: I assume he's referring to Paige, though he hasn't met you either? Oversight on his part, but it's not anything too important. ^_^;

BIC: Caston was ready for a fight as soon as he saw the Dark Wizard. He dropped his pack and hefted the fabled staff of Thert Bastalor.

Turning the river into toxic waste was a bad idea, especially with two accomplished Blue Wizards in the party. He just hoped that Paige wasn't in on the ambush...

Caston quickly made the water more dense so that creatures couldn't come out of it as easily, if at all. He then used the excess space and energy capacity inside the staff to craft a spear of the poisoned water. He hurled it at Tory, trying to use his own foul tactics against him.

OOC: I tried to mention like three times the water's actually becoming toxic had been just a brief flash, sort of only to mutate the creatures inside. ^_^;

BIC...

Tory smirked for the half-second Caston's water-density trick worked. The skull thrown within the water absorbed the energy, giving off a faint, eerie glow within the water as more creatures lifted themselves out of the water, soon reaching the peak of the shore to either take up place behind Tory or charge blindly and furiously at the party. In the exact same respect as his river-skull, Tory togged another, smaller one out of a pocket and held it at the spear, absorbing the energy of the water that held it in its shape so he soon only had a spray of water to dissolve the skull within his hand. It soon fell and began eating at the stone like acid, tearing through the bridge as long as there was bone to dissolve. "Try harder. Surely you don't need to play with toys all the time." The jeer was said in a shine tone with an insane giggle at the end, coaxing Caston into what he hoped would be a rage.

Paige, in the meantime, simply stepped to the side of the bridge and leaned on the side. "This is your fight; I do not exist to shed blood."

Without the aid of his voice machine Adam let out a raspy laugh dropping his material and charged ahead drawing up a blunt hammer head and fixing it to the other half. The increase in energy output caused the facemask to clamp shut on his helmet. As he ran closer, he focused more energy into the hammer causing it to glow red with energy catching fire to the grass as it drug into the ground. The searing hot weapon slammed into any creature coming within range of the attacks while he held the creatures at bay.

Grageon looked down at a little turtle abomination crawling as fast as it could towards him. He let out a deep laugh, grabbed an axe from his pack, and swung it in a golf-like stroke at the turtle, sending it snarling and hurling like a bullet towards Tory.

OOC: I LIKE TUHTLES!

Both Adam's and Grageons weapons soon began to suffer damage from the toxins of the creatures they struck, though Adam's was affected less by the energy he channeled through his weapon. The turtle that was crashed toward Tory was a simple dodge with a sidestep. "Boys and their toys aren't learning..."

"Toys don't work." Delon said with a smirk as he stealthily appeared behind Tory. "Good thing this isn't a toy." he said as he dropped the remaining bit of flash powder in his sash onto the group, blinding and deafening anyone caught in it's radius.

OOC: I'm going to ignore that you could only sneak up on someone on a bridge by swimming through toxic-creature infested waters or having been past the bridge and hidden before Tory ever started on his way. :?:

BIC...

Tory smirked at the powder, closing his eyes before it got into them. While he couldn't hear for crap, either, he had but to utter two words. "Sic him." The coyote gave a loud howl before charging straight at Delon with blood-stained fangs bared, chasing his smell violently. Tory, in the meantime, took advantage of the whirlwind of smoke screening around him to twist the shadows, blanketing him in total darkness despite the light of day. He would've made a comment about Delon's powder just being a one-shot toy, but his mouth was in danger of getting something in it.

OOC: I'll say it again. This world's magic system, according to Lander, is similar to AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER. Not WoW, not Runescape, not Final Fantasy. You'd have to be a White / Black mage to toy with the light or darkness to actually pull off a sneaking like that. I'm only skipping it 'cause you have a coyote after your throat that you can't see due to your own smoke screen.

OOC: That turtle was hurling about as fast as a human hitting a golf ball. It would be very hard to simply "side-step" at the distance between Tory and Grageon. This is a man around 8 feet tall with seemingly unlimited strength.

Jarrett had seen the group leaving Rurm, and had to sprint to catch up. He was farther behind than he thought. He then realized that the kid from earlier, way back when he first joined the group, was atacking his friends again. And that he had more mutant creatures. "You have got to be kidding me......" he muttered. Even though he tampered with nature, but mutating innocent creatures was going too far for him.

OOC: The bridge isn't a log over a river. It's about as long as a building and a half, which is plenty to avoid something you hear coming from straight ahead. :<
