Well, statistically speaking, slightly more than a giant suckusaur. A dire one.

Grageon stood up, pulled out an axe, and cut off Jarrett's head. He then sat back down, and drank a glass of orange juice.

OOC: It's a joke guys. I'm not participating in any of the conversations going on, and wanted to have a little fun. And it's nothing against you, Riptide, you were just the last one to post! :awesome:

Delon reached into a bag on his sash, pulled out a handful of flash powder and held it out to Jarrett for a second, before retracting his hand. "Before I give this to you... What do you intend on doing with it?" Delon questioned.

Raila shot a wink at the thief, knowing he had absolutely no room to respond in indignation due to his having threatened Raila's valuables (and / or health) before.

Jarrett had taken some flash powder from Delon, and ran out behind the Inn. He saw a few shady strangers, but noone looked dangerous. He stuck a dart inside his mouth carefully, trying not to stab himself. He then tested a tiny amount of flash powder. It worked well, and the amount that would hopefully stick to the dart we be even better. He sprinkled some of the powder onto the dart, and it stuck. "Whew, I was thinking this wouldn't work..... Now where to test it?" he wondered aloud.

"I suppose we will simply have to wait til these guys decide to show up. Think it will be tonight or in the morning?" Adam said and finished the rest of his roast. I'm really not one for waiting... The sooner we can get this dealt with the better. Raila made some comment about a swarm of metallic locusts among other things. "I do not suppose that would be a problem. Making one would be hard enough and even then I have my doubts to how well it would work. As far as magic goes... coloring magic is an Eastern thing so I have never really identified myself as any such color as you put it. Good and evil are relative terns too. If one city takes from another, they are seen as both conquerors and as raiders at the same time. Depending on who receives the spoils."

Rage had come to his decision.

"I'm going to release you, take you to the rendezvous point and hand you over to your group with hopefully minimal hassle. I'll explain myself to them, and request to tag along for the journey. My affairs here are basically on hold as it is. I'd be more of an asset than any of my men. Lastly, I think it goes without saying that the best thing you could do right now is simply cooperate."

He untied Kyrina, and waited for a moment for her to adjust to being mobile again.

***

Caston felt a shift in energy when the girl entered the Inn, but frankly, he didn't care. Wizards weren't especially rare in Rurm, and whatever her business, it was none of Caston's. When Raila suggested talking to her, Caston looked over his shoulder and locked eyes with the girl. She was beautiful, the noises and hoots seemed to be for good reason. But her look was only a worthless piece of trivia to Caston.

As their eyes met, Caston gave her a respectful nod rather than a rude holler. He turned back to his food, hoping that the leader would present himself soon. He identified with Adam, but patience was important in the journey as well.

Apparently it was the former, because Rage eventually declared that he planned to let Kyrina go and return her to her group. She still didn't like the prospect of her captor becoming her ally, but that was entirely out of her hands. And for what it's worth, if it means less trouble in stopping Dusk......eh...

Despite giving his word and slightly to her surprise, Rage immediately untied Kyrina as she sat there in semi-stunned silence, and waited for her to stand up. Not having had the chance to use her legs in several hours, she rose slowly, making sure she had her balance. She didn't have her staff to lean on, and as it sort of doubled as a walking stick, she realized for the first time how awkward things felt without it. Kyrina looked at Rage and gave a slight nod, indicating she was ready for him to lead the way to the rendezvous point.

"So, I say we get moving. If we get Kyrina, we'll have gone through this ordeal with little to no hassle. While under normal circumstances, that would be a good thing, I could still use some training. I don't intend on leaving here without honing my skills." Delon announced to the group.

The girl nodded, apparently ready to go.

The gang's hideout wasn't far from the Inn that they were to meet in. In a few short minutes, Rage was pushing open the door to the structure. He had no intention of stopping Kyrina from returning to her group.

"So, who's running this party?" He asked nonchalantly.

***

Caston was getting anxious, but he tried not to show it. Every time the door flew open, he glanced to see if it was Kyrina. Or at least, a shady man leading a tied-up Kyrina.

Before long, an especially dangerous looking man stepped into the Inn. He was tall and lanky, with short dark hair and green eyes that hid sinister plots. He sauntered to the middle of the floor and asked "So, who's running this party?" Caston knew he was the man they were looking for. He wasted no time in approaching him.

"What do you want?" Caston asked.

OOC: I tried not to manipulate Kyrina at all. It doesn't much matter when/how you make your entrance, it's just policy.

Rage led Kyrina to an Inn and walked inside. From the question he loudly made, Kyrina assumed the group was here. She took a deep breath for a moment (half-surprised things had gone this smoothly) and followed him inside. She saw Grageon at once simply because he was the biggest/easiest to notice, and indeed, everyone else seemed to be nearby and unharmed (except for the absent Jarrett.)

Kyrina walked forward and stopped just behind Rage, not wanting to make any sudden moves and not quite knowing what to do. She was too nervous to really know what facial expression she was giving off, but she really hoped it was a mixture of "thank you for not giving up on me" and "oh my god I am SO sorry I dragged you all into this".

BIC...

Raila gave a chuckle and stepped forward. "Normally, this lad here seems to be the brains of the operation. But you seem to be for the moment, sir Seer, despite your sheer lack of it." From somewhere aside from Raila's body, a very thin yet undeniably powerful watery barrier surrounded his body, fluxing lightly. "Now, I don't mean to sound like I'm bragging from a failure, but catching even me off guard to kidnap someone under my nose is impressive. And one of the LEAST tolerable things on this planet!"

Dusk stomped his foot down, unhinging his power enough that the water threatened to vaporize from his barrier. Off to the side, a random man in the bar yelled, "That lady's a mage! She's doing it!" Undeniably, Paige was holding a concentrating arm out toward Dusk while motioning with the other.

"Ah, yes. So rude of me to forget introductions... Paige, my page. The title's a bit of a running joke, but don't let that nor her looks fool you; she's got enough power to flood this entire city in a flash, so anyone trying anything stupid will just end up with a whip of water around their necks 'til they stop. Now, Seer, I believe you have something of mine." Right on cue, Paige whipped her free hand back, the wisps of water having caught the gem Dusk stored in the apple for Kyrina. Dusk caught it between his thumb and index finger, presenting it to the Seer. "If it never found its way to her, but rather your pocket, that only adds theft to your crimes. See, I may kill, but if you haven't noticed, there aren't legions of innocent simply slain at my feet. The one thing I absolutely do not tolerate is undisputed, needless involvement of the innocent in anything harmful."

Knowing the Seer would start to interject with a "greater cause" speech, Dusk turned to Caston. "Remember how I told you this gem had a crater spell enough for a room? I didn't lie about one part of that. I'll be expecting you to do three things for me, Caston. Brace yourself, find me, and don't be quick to judge Paige."

A multitude of happenings occurred in the blink of an eye. The water barrier vanished, leaving Dusk to jump up and catch a rag wrapped around his swords with one hand tossed by Paige. The jump continued well through the roof of the building, force enough to leave small craters where his feet were as a sign of the strength of the jump. "Now, Seer! Witness the folly of your self-fulfilling prophecy!" Dusk threw the gem into the center of the city with the greatest force possible. On impact with the ground, the gem shattered, and a crater nearly instantaneously appeared beneath well over half the city. In the time it took Dusk to pull out his swords and start a descent with fiery blades spinning, wrath engulfing the sky and what wood could be reached from the blazing strikes, all the buildings had begun to plummet what few meters they had from the newly shaped ground. From within the Inn, Dusk recognized one very specific voice crying out in effort of a barrier that overtook Paige, Grageon, Kyrina, Delon, Adam, and Caston. That, however, mattered far less than being able to set ablaze this city of heathen vandals before the city could recover to counter.

OOC: Don't bother trying to touch Paige. I wasn't kidding in that any attempts, magical or physical, to harm her will earn a noose of water around your neck.
And don't bother trying to touch Dusk. As soon as he touches ground, half the city will be ablaze, and he'll be off running.

Of course, before any sort of agreement could be reached or information could be had, chaos ensued.

Caston knew. He knew there was something off about Raila, something strange and double-meaning in most things he said. There was also a striking resemblance...

Now wasn't the time to be pondering trivial things. Caston had to make a decision, and quickly. Try to do something about Dusk while ignoring the havoc he was wreaking, or try to save the city and its people as best he could.

The proper choice was clear. Though the final goal was always on Caston's mind, he would have his answers and possibly Dusk's life when others weren't in danger.

Thinking quickly, Caston recalled how closely the river ran to the city. Using his legendary staff, Caston single-handedly swelled the river until a shallow pool a few inches deep crept into the city. That would put out any ground fires and would hopefully prevent others from forming. He then set to work raising a thick mist from the water he had channeled into the city, thus stifling the flames that were catching onto homes, businesses, and other structures.

As the source wasn't immediately near, Caston strained to achieve his goal. He was able to do so through extreme concentration and picturing the river in his mind. It was as if it were right next to him.

The ground was damp enough, and Caston maintained a small flow of energy to keep the mist hanging in the air for a short time. He then swelled a razor wind in his staff, and looked skyward at Dusk, issuing a silent challenge.

"Come now, boy! You think this is the end!?" Dusk ripped his belt wide open, allowing an enormous store of gems to start free falling. Taking two fast, consecutive slashes into the air, Dusk knocked most of them to the ground, shattering on impact to release small explosions of elemental magic. Fire burned on impact, mist froze with ice shards flying violently, stone stalagmites rose from the cratered earth, and the land around the gems seemed to rot with disease. Knowing at least one of the near dozen magical blasts on the ground had connected or affected with Caston, Dusk landed on the first solid structure beneath him before flying off as fast as possible. "I can not and will not die here! Farewell!"

As soon as he departed, Paige applied pressure outward from her barrier, pushing debris aside to allow the party minus Caston to stand in the one clean spot of all the rubble around them.
