[RP] - The Fall of Crandor

"If what Maria says is true then we can easily take them and they don't seem to mean much harm" Chipp glanced around the deck quickly, and gave a sharp whistle, the crew of the ship stealthily hid their weapons and took up defensive positions. Chipp took a quick head count and figured he had at least ten pirates below deck that hopefully had not been counted. Chipp let go of the levers and the ship slowed to a stop. "If they pull any funny business I think we can outrun them" he said quietly so that his words would not carry on the wind over to the other ships.

The larger ship moves in to position blocking them from the front as the two smaller ships came along side. Suddenly, grappling hooks flew onto the deck latching on to the railing. The captain of one of the ships wearing a half suit of armor pointed his sword at Chipp and called out. "By the authority of the Asgarnian Kingdom and the White Knights I am commandeering this ship to aid in the revival of the kingdom. We know you have dealings with this unholy empire and must then be taken prisoner and held as prisoners of war." As he finishes, more partly armored men jump on board from the masts of the two small enemy ships.

"We have not done anything wrong though." Zemdi says to everyone.

"It doesn't matter, they'd have taken the ship no matter where we came from... They're desperate for power now." Maria says to Zemdi and draws a heavy bladed longsword specially made by Djanzad. It is several times thicker than a normal longsword and an odd coloration compared to known metals. "We have to fight for our own survival now. I'm quite familiar with this..."

Zemdi kept a hand on her short sword as she reached a hand out of her pocket grasping the energy sword handle from the ruins and saying lightly. "I do not know how much time I will be able to use it here. I can hope it is not necessary."

Kratos slung his bow around but turned to the big ship. "It's easy enough to be boarded, but..." Kratos scanned the cannons of the ship. "There is only one active cannon. They're watching... Here's something to watch." Kratos fit an arrow into his bow and concentrated on getting the aim perfect, since the ship probably depended on it... He saw the arc, he saw the flight down the little hole of the cannon. And he saw that the rogue knight saw it as he raised the powder to stuff it into the cannon just in case...

Kratos smirked and let magic flow to his fingertips. 'This isn't Runescape... Runes aren't needed... This isn't normal... I can do this by the magic I was taught!' He would up whispering the last line, ending the last three words in a shout as he let go of the now-flaimg arrow, watching it fly smoothly through the air and slide into the cannon's barrel just before a knight's hand held the ball in front of the hole. The blazing tip caught the powder pack and the cannon exploded in place. The ball was shot out through the knight's hand, dragging him out the window and into the ocean. However, due to not recieving the full blast, it fell short of Chipp's ship, and Kratos turned around to drop his bow and draw both blades, rune and modern. "Any more magic and this won't be fun... I haven't been tested in a while."

Once Chipp saw Kratos' movements he quickly nudged the levers slightly forward and then put his hands behind his back, trying to look inconspicuous and like he hadn't moved at all. The ship gently slid forward on the waves, the grappling hooks slowly slid towards the back of the ship, and it became fairly obvious that the ship would hit the bigger boat. Chipp called for some of his men to stand at the front of the ship and show their weapons, and for others to subdue the warriors that had climbed on board. "Take cover, in case they have arrows" Chipp called out, his ship sailing forward toward the backend of the bigger ship.

The two small ships were drug along with Chipp's ship. They continued forward until touching the large ship. The sides crumble being badly damaged and makes a gaping hole in the side of the ship. More knights started climbing on board from the larger now-sinking ship.

Maria charged forward into the boarding rogue knights and swung clean through their swords severing their weapons in half. "Consider yourself lucky to be out of the fight early while I'm not mad. Now leave into the sea" She growls at them as they jump off the ship stripping their armor as they go.

"You rotten cowards.... GET back here and take this ship!" The General yells at them ordering the remainder of his men to board. He waits as some of his workers lift a boarding plank for him to walk over on. "And where is the captain of this hideous vessel... I imagine I can take him alone... unless he'll come quietly and cease this pointless resistance." The General says mockingly drawing his dual swords and approaching the back of the ship.

Zemdi was quickly surrounded using her short sword as a defender she blocked the first attacks. She swung her energy sword focusing energy into it which lengthened during the swing to melt through the blades of her attackers. "Try not to kill them if you can avoid it... Oh Sorry!" She adds as she cuts through the chest plate of one of the men nearly hitting him underneath. The man sits out of breath against the ship rail.

Chipp leaned over to his first mate "soon as I give the all clear throw these levers forward full tilt" he said with a wink, drawing his scimitar and jumping over the railing onto the main deck. Chipp ducked and weaved through the fighting pirates on his ship, grabbing two crew members to him while heading to the back of the ship. Chipp used the sharp blade of his scimitar to cut through the grappling hooks and the two pirates he had rallied to him did likewise. When Chipp got to the back of the ship where the other captain was trying to cross the plank, Chipp cut the final few grappling hooks along the way, he ducked a couple of sword strokes from the captain before turning around and waving to his first mate before quickly ducking another sword stroke and grabbing the plank that the captain was on, "I'd love to fight you, but I'm more worried about my crew and companions" he said with a wink, then added "see ya when I see ya" and gave a mighty shove to the piece of wood as his first mate threw both levers forward.

Kratos was disarming every knight he could as the fighting went on, whether it be breaking clean through weapons or slicing the hands that held the handles. When he felt the lurch of the ship driving forward, he knew the ship the crew was going through would do a lot to Chipp's own vessel. Starting to get used to seamlessly performing weapon-based magic, Kratos crossed his arms in front of his body before swinging them in an 'x' shape. Gashes appeared in the wood of the knight's ship in the same shape as the swing, opening the wood up and breaking it down so Chipp's ship could sail through far easier.

Kratos looked around at the knights and couldn't help but smirk. "If anyone still wants to fight, feel free... Just make sure you look around first."

The White Knight General climbed up over the railing of Chipp's ship and said "Ignore the words of the traitorous lot. Take the ship!... " He runs at Chipp and takes wild swings at him.

Several more enemies try jumping onto the ship from each of the halves of the wreckage some missing as the ship falls further away into the sea. The rogue knights continued their attack, getting more desperate as the fight went on. Gradually less remained capable of fighting and jumped overboard leaving less than two dozen on the ship. Zemdi swung her energy sword at her attacker but in the middle of her attack, the energy sword flickers out and the enemy kicks her down. "HA, no match for me anyway without that cheatin sword." The soldier brags lugging Zemdi up. "We'rr takun this ship so you'll have to swim back ya heavy broad."

Zemdi grabs ahold of his arm and opens her seemingly glowing red eyes. The man gags and tries pulling away as she draws energy out of him and burns into ashes with her hands still held out. Breathing heavily, she walks forward slowly toward the remaining men at the front of the ship following the energy of their bodies.

"Wuza.. Uuu... um Kratos turn around! Something's up with Zemdi!" Maria says backing away in front of him. "Is this what that Sylvrian guy saw her do?... What's going on??"

Most of the men yelled in fear and jumped overboard. The remainder, pirates and knights alike, backed against the walls of the boat. Kratos watched Zemdi's head follow them over, but she didn't jump after them. The captain screamed out "What sorcery is this!?"

"Shut up, you fool!" Kratos grabbed the captain both hands and heaved him over the rails before he became ashes in the wind, too. The speech would probably have drawn Zemdi's attention, however... What was she doing?

Chipp moved quickly, he didn't know what Zemdi was up to but he knew that his crew was in danger. He shouted orders quickly "My crew that's at the helm get below decks, check for leaks caused by the other ships" Chipp wasn't totally worried about the leaks but it was an order to get his men away from Zemdi. The crew that he gave orders to scrambled around the deck trying to avoid Zemdi as much as possible. "Kratos, Maria settle Zemdi down quickly or we'll have to take drastic actions" Chipp shouted. He ran up to the where his first mate was working the controls, muttering and shaking his head "females and their sensitivity about their weight."

Maria dropped her sword and ran to Zemdi. "What are you doing!? Stop!" She says grabbing Zemdi's arms. Quickly after Zemdi starts trying to draw energy out of Maria. "Aaag.... She's taking my power reserves. You have to STOP!" She says charging forward until ramming Zemdi into the front mast. Zemdi collapses to the ground unconscious. "There has to be an easier way... That isn't going to happen to me some day is it? Bet I'm already infected..." She adds with a sigh. By this time all the enemy knights had fled the ship into the sea and Chipp's ship had long since passed into the open sea.

"... I'm sorry, Maria... When he mentioned throwing me overboard, I was too low on power to fight back, for some reason my low power warning never came on. I could hear everyone, but I just couldn't control myself. I could feel his energy, and I just needed more... I killed a man and I didn't even have to." Zemdi says sitting up. Her eyes had returned to the normal purple shade. She holds Maria's hand and transfers power back to her. "I really am sorry. I just do not know how I can control it... errrrrk" She stops herself with her stomach growling. "Is there anything to eat? I am apparently starving."

Kratos sighed in relief and plopped on his butt. "So every time you just plain run out of spare energy you're going to drain people to the point of turning them to ashes?" Kratos shook his head and hopped down the deck to the floor leading to the kitchen again. "It can't be helped. The most we can do is try to keep you powered enough that you won't go into that state again. That includes using your energy as feul, Zemdi."

Kratos sighed again and gave a half-hearted smile. "So... what do you want?" He intended full well to consult the book on the ability to transfer energy or store it safely in case of this event happening again, but first priority was food.

Zemdi followed Kratos below deck with Maria close behind. "Well... I do not know what I would want. Anything is good really. Something fast though, I doubt it would take long to get to the dock." She said looking around the kitchen. She pulled out some salted meats from a barrel and started munching on them. "It's not the best thing, but it really isn't that bad."

"I already know what I want." Maria says coming up from the store room with a fist full of rune essences and chewing on a couple. "So then... with these nanomathings. I'll be able to taste stuff and eat food right? How does that work out. I SAW what you went through it was really gross. And I don't want to hurt people anymore.., I'm not going to go crazy like that am I??"

"Well... I hope not. We can probably avoid it since we know what happened with me. I don't know if it will effect you the same, but I will help you." Zemdi says with her hand on Maria's head. "No matter what happens, I'll do my best."

Kratos took the meat from Zemdi and smiled. "It being salted dehydrates it so it can be stored until it's cooked... Key word being "cooked". I doubt anything will affect your insides, but it's best to make sure." Kratos got a pot boiling and cut the meat up into square-like chunks, tipping them in as the water rolled with bubbles.

As the meat cooked, fast, Kratos cut up potatoes into smaller portions than the meat, skin still on. After tipping those in, the only things left to do were to wait for the short time it took the meat to cook through, and wonder what else could be added. Kratos smiled as he saw sweet onions on a shelf above the pot. He took one, cut a portion off the size of a marble, and minced it to be in as tiny of chunks as possible before scooping it onto the knife and into the pot, hoping the flavor boiled into the water.

It didn't take long before it was done, and there was enough beef stew for about six people. Kratos pulled out a few bowls and forks from a nearby panty and filled three immediately. He took one, and passed Zemdi another. "Maria, I think this may taste better than, or with, that essence. But it's worth a shot."

Kratos set the bowl in front of her and sighed, enjoying his first bite to eat in ages as he stared at Zemdi. "What do you think it will take to have a backup for when you need energy that badly? I can't be counted on to make you food every time you get like that, so what can just hold energy and let it be sucked out just as quick?"

"It was not cooked? It seemed to taste fine." Zemdi says watching over Kratos' shoulder as he cooked. She winced as he picked up the onion. "I don't need energy THAT badly really. It seems odd in fact, none of the times this has happened were really when I had low energy but this last one. The one main thing in common is I was in danger, or at least thought I was. When he tried throwing me overboard I just lost it. I just felt like I'd be done for."

"I can't digest it anyway Kratos or taste it for that matter. Not yet at least. I don't know how Zemdi does it, but I guess it'd be similar to the mana furnace. At the moment though I'm about identical to how Zemdi was when you first met her. mechanically speaking. I can't believe I'm actually shorter than her..."

"You really can taste the onion, I can at least... I would have avoided it. Could use a little more salt. Maybe a few more minutes on the burner" Zemdi says while eating. "I'm not that short either. This is how tall I was before, so it would be about as tall as you would get too."

OOC: Boy, you really must hate onions to hell if you think a marble-sized chunk of a sweet onion (of all the kinds) will overpower the flavor of beef stew made for six people. Maybe if I chucked half of the thing in (and they're huge to begin with), sure, but what I did was solely to flavor the water. XD

Kratos sighed and rubbed his forehead. "I can bake cakes, roast a shark perfectly all the way through, brew drinks, cook goblin food for pity's sake... And she tries to educate me on a bowl of stew." The retort was meant to be affectionate instead of insulting.

Kratos put aside his now-empty bowl and took out the book, looking for any signs of anything energy based. The only thing he found out what was he already knew... Gems, especially within jewelry, could store the magical energy that was released to give the wearer added strength or luck, or abilities like teleportation. "This doesn't help much... So I just have to enchant a crap-load of jewelry and hold onto it as spare energy? Do the gems even have to be crafted?"

"Gems don't so much store energy, it's kind of like magnetism I think. Though I think some gems can hold a charge..." Maria says thinking about the gems she used to repair her joints. She pulls off her forearm and opens part on the joint to show the inside motor lined with specially arranged gemstones. That's how most of our joints move. Or well, Zemdi might be different now, who knows..." She finishes and seals her arm back together.

Zemdi didn't look while Maria took her own arm apart. "You really could have just described it... although gems do taste nice, I do not believe that would solve my problem. I did this more than once, and I wasn't low on power the other times. Why would I kill people if I didn't need to... Just for protection?"

"Like what, you still have your self preservation mechanism?? I removed that a long time ago from my core. It really messed things up." Maria jumped in. "For me it was at the top connector of my core. I can't imagine how you would get it out... I've scanned you before."

"We don't need to worry about it now. I will simply have to try and control it myself..." Zemdi said thinking about the mechanism inside. She dreaded the idea of removing it, particularly with the bio mechanical parts having taken over. "Besides, if I get out of hand I have you all to take care of me."

Chipp watched Kratos, Zemdi, and Maria disappear into the kitchen. He studied the map a for a little and then shifted both levers forward, the right one a little farther then the left, so that the boat would slowly turn and then put them both at the same position and left them in place. The ship lurched as the device helped it pick up speed. He climbed down the stairs to the main deck and helped his crew clear the deck of the dead bodies, Chipp had been fairly lucky and hadn't lost a man during the fight but there were a couple of cuts and bruises.

The cleaning of the bodies and blood on the ship took up most of the day and when he and his crew were done a shout came from the crow's nest, "land ahead!" Chipp ran to the kitchen and popped his head into the door "we're here."

Kratos looked over at Maria and shrugged. "Not much, but enough to avoid her having to drain a life again. I never had a use for the mass of gems and jewelry in my bank, I could just craft a super-necklace or something to hold as much energy as possible. Or at least what's needed."

Kratos sighed and turned around. "But the actual self-defense thing, if that's in her, I don't want to be here if it's removed. But..." He tried to find a few delicate words for it. "Zemdi's not as willing to fight all-out as you, Maria. It's saved her life where she may possibly have taken abuse, or worse, before. So, again, it's her call. I'll go outside if you say "yes" and want it done here."

"It's obviously not energy... can't you figure that out?? Geez.." Maria said impatiently "Can you bind some arcane spell to a necklace to stop her maybe? Like a leash of sorts hehehe. Something you can just turn on and it'll zap her or something. That'd keep my mother in check hm? Surely there's some enchantment you can devise." She said while disembarking from the ship down to the dock. "Last time I've been to this part of the island was like four years ago... don't think I went this far south though."

Zemdi stepped out placing a foot on the boarding ramp. She closed her eyes as she walked down until reaching the dock. She sighs in relief at making it to shore. "Kratos can make what he wants an thinks will work, Maria... Although I do believe you may be right on that I do not feel it is an energy problem, sorry Kratos. Maybe the village will have some of the things you need, I may have some material with me also." She looks around the port not recognizing anything. "Things change in 15 years... Which way now? A literal internal compass and I still get lost."
