I don't really need to post thirty times in the first day, I have nothing to go on.

Also, with my incredibly minimal playtime in the past two days, I don't want Kikori to start up another train against me :(

Slightly wary of having to play with Lander, Top AND Kikori, I am 95% certain that at least one of you three is Scum. Going to watch you all carefully to see who it is!

Don't worry, Henry, after seeing you dead once before a chance to talk and killing you on day one (despite justification), I don't plan to attack you for a couple days without a very good reason.

I didn't notice that I lost a bracket when copy-pasting. If anything, if I were scum and worried about a 'slip of the tongue', wouldn't I have previewed that post?

Quote:
Yet Day One lynches of the Mafia, they exist. Need I remind you?

Your point being?

Quote:
But, no. A Vigilante is a poor claim to make if I were to want to fool the town with any claim, let alone a confession of anything. Guess, what happens if a night passes and there's only one night kill? Suspicion. Two nights with one kill? A dead Kikori.

I wasn't really referring to the Vigilante thing. You didn't even really claim that one, it was in response to Rex's comment about picking his role.

Quote:
I can assure you, my good man, were I mafia my plan would be to fake-claim Detective at the last possible moment in order to sway the Town behind me to seal their own fate. And I will heartily laugh when saying this costs me the game one day if I end up the real detective, but someone ends up recalling this.

Covering your tracks for such a situation here?

Quote:
Because the logic of the statement makes little sense. "I don't want to lead the followers" makes you a follower. If at any point you intend to spearhead a decision, even if about breaking others' logic as faulty, it makes you a leader. Just better than some others.
So which is it?

Being 'the leader of the followers' means I don't (usually) initiate arguments that lead to potential lynches, it means I reinforce those arguments by putting my considerably veteran vote behind them. The title refers to being a follower who other followers can feel comfortable in following.

An example: Mafia X, Lander and Scar fought back and forth for a number of days, and the Scar lynch only ultimately went through when I finally gave Lander my backing. Others followed me.

I feel like you should know this.... you gave me the role of 'Smooth Talker' in that game after all.

This game however, I am showing with my campaign against you that I'm not going to resolve to being the 'leader of the followers'. I'm trying my hand at just being a 'leader'. This wasn't really a big point I was trying to make though, I just thought that I'd refer back to that conversation I had with Lander on a whim.

I know you might be wary of taking my word for it but, I'm telling you, I saw Lander and he was DOING MAFIA STUFF.

What do you mean "Covering for my tracks"?

JACK OF TRADES, I CHOOSE YOU!

Did you not see this post? No PM's for roles when this game started. Rex and I were able to make two full posts apiece before finally getting our PM's. I "claimed" villager, mafia, and detective in the same post without even knowing what the hell I actually was. And I know Rex and Lander can both verify this one.

... Oh, wait. Derp. You were asleep by the time the PM's were sent, so everything would be on time to you.
Welp. We both just acted sorta stupid under false pretenses. You didn't know of the late PM's, and because I assumed you did, I thought this was all just day one spam-arguing. ._.

The PMs were late?

Kind of changes everything I guess considering the post I was attacking you for was made with legitimately not knowing what your role was.

You're still my biggest suspect for how rampantly you defended yourself, but I'm going to unvote and look elsewhere for the time being.

Godders, you're usually more active. Where you at?

@ Lander, I'm also surprised that you haven't really pushed on anyone yet. It's reminding me of 2of4, where you really just floated by (as mafia), in stark contrast to your aggressive play against Scar in X. What are your thoughts?

I thought the entire thing was based off a joke, so lack of seriousness is probably apparent now. I did tell you I was waiting on Lander the silent. >_>

I can confirm the PM's were late i got mine at 7:57am - 14 minutes after the game had started.

My lack of activity has been caused from several things:

- Revision from exams (which i have said several times before).
- Lack of internet access (i have none except when i go round a mates house to revise).
- There isn't too much to go on.
- Skyrim.
- More revision.

I'd love to give a rocksolid reason for not posting, but I honstly can't.

Diablo 3 Beta weekend baby :^_^:

Having beaten the Beta now though I do plan to be more active than I have been over the last 24 hours or so, so no worries.

An awful lot of promises to be more active coming out. We'll see who sticks to it by Day Two.

Market Man6, what about you?

I may throw votes around for flimsy reasons, but just going in a sequence like that to ask people "Why are you inactive"? Come on. Yes, I agree that we want to know why people are silent, but after the third time it just loses its oomph.

dear Mr topsummoner.
i was more than content with watching you and kikori. i know that after reading the first 2 posts, i checked the PM time, then dropped it.

that aside, im not usually in favor of day 1 lynches because day1 lynches are rarely justified.

also, keep in mind that everything that happened on page2(starting with kikoris post "This length of silence makes me feel uneasy....") happened while i was asleep. so good morning :P

oooo I'm waiting for Lander oooo what does Lander think. ooOOooOOOoOOOo he's not as active/aggressive as he normally is.

Are you two listening to yourselves? In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you were BOTH scum.

I couldn't care less about your nonsense. It strikes me as odd after that exchange that Top would return to the joke (about me doing mafia stuff). It also strikes me as strange that kikori would resort to such an attack so early (something about a feeble attempt or something).

The post before your declaration, Top, I DID notice a bit of a shift in your style. If you want to re-evaluate your gameplay, that's great. But keep in mind that it would also be a great alibi for a scumbag. "Ohey guys I'm changing my game up this time around". If townies get lynched, someone's going to be in big trouble.

And kikori makes borderline insane statements to encourage activity, and sometimes it really is tiresome. I found myself facepalming during your exchange. Top hung on to a misunderstanding. Kikori hung on to an inside conversation. As solid as it gets on Day one, I guess, but still not much. And now you've reconciled for the moment. Square one.

In terms of my Scar crusade from a few games ago, I'm not in any hurry to do that again. I've said it before and I'll keep in saying it: his lynch and how/where the votes fell generated the information I needed to single-handedly win the game. That still doesn't mean that I don't feel bad about it. I was wrong. The difference between me and another shmoe is that I know how to use the resulting information and turn a bad thing into something useful. I don't have to rely on such a thing so much when there are plenty of other veterans playing and willing to generate information.

Still, you shouldn't just say nothing at all.

Unvote

Well, you're not as active/aggressive as you normally are. The same as your play in 2of4, in which you were mafia. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt, though, as I am with the other players who haven't contributed much.

I was never intending to go on about it like I did. I was just calling back to our conversation, but Kikori tried to turn it into a big deal.

An inside conversation? Lander, we have numerous people claiming they noticed role PM's were out late. Inductive reasoning, if person after person notices the same thing, then it stands to reason everyone involved noticed it. WELP, I WAS WRONG.

As for "Oh hoh, I want to see what Lander says before doing anything"...
Kikori wrote:

Bring it.

What we have here is a game somewhat inactive so far, with you seeming to dislike my request for activity. I can deal with that. But you want your obligatory day one argument with me, and I'm curious where that'll take us--especially now that you've called me scum over an argument over a couple misunderstandings, with your reasoning involving such phrases as "or something" to show you just brushed it off without even considering reasons behind how each of us behaved.

I can't blame you for not wanting to just up and start a lynch on someone again just to drive at information, but guess what? You took a nice, lazy, scummy break in the game immediately after, implying others should do the legwork. I see it as a little hypocritical to imply, no less after being the primary driving force behind a perfect 2/2 Mafia lynch streak and game victory, that I'm not entitled to a little tomfoolery while I wait on someone else to take a damn idea and run with it. Especially someone who's had effectively two games' worth of a break to recover from any possible "burnt out" status. And guess what? Both you and Top fit the bill.

The difference? Top and I argued under a misunderstanding. You, Landerpurex, argued a will to be lazy and disdain for others being the same way.

The first day always seems to be rather lacking in direction (all games) for obvious reasons, it's not surprising people have been less active (myself included). But the aforementioned lack of computer access was the main reason.

What do you do these days on day1 in the game? Usual bandwagoning of a random person in hope against odds that they're mafia?

Surprise, surprise.

I was talking about what was said between Top and myself outside of RV a few days ago.

Point one. I never said I disliked your request for activity. You ought to know that I, of all people, would encourage it.

Point two. I didn't call you scum. I said I wouldn't be surprised if you were. If, theoretically, you and Top were both mafia together, do you really think it beyond your expertise to put together a fabricated argument? There's nothing in this game yet that points to anyone being scum.

Point three. "Or something" wasn't a brush off. It was me not wanting to go back, ON DAY ONE, and quote every other line you've been saying. But it seems I've been goaded into doing that anyway.

Quote:

Um...what is it exactly that you're insinuating here? A fluctuation in desire or need for you to do work in this mafia game because of what just happened in the variant? 2/2 perfect lynch in a variant that's been figured out isn't the same as a perfect 2/2 lynch in a regular game, so don't act like it is. I don't see what you're getting at. You want Top or myself to take the reins? Strange. That was my pathetic cover in 2of4.

Quote:
You, Landerpurex, argued a will to be lazy and disdain for others being the same way.

Well it seems your willingness to twist my words knows no bounds. Saying that I don't want to engineer another lynch/train like Scar's a few games ago is equal to laziness? As far as I'm concerned, as long as I'm posting with some form of content, I'm not being lazy.

What the heck kind of question is this? Isn't it obvious? Do some homework.

There's enough chaos going on around you that you could add *something* to the discussion, given your status.

I haven't played Mafia for over a year, give me a break. When I played we used to just attempt a bandwagon and hope it was right, but it seemed as we played more and more that strategy was rejected. Thanks for the thinly veiled condescension though...

Also, what status?
