Johath headed east, striking towards the "North and South" as he called the main road. After a day of walking, he finally reached the road. He set out a small bedroll he had in his pack, pulled out an invention "The burner" which was a small holder that held a fuel that created a small fire. He lit it, and set it on the ground. He ate some bread, then fell asleep for the night.

OOC: @ Rat: I just ate dinner etc so I'd peg us at late evening.

BIC: The three companions set out Southward, towards Windrow. Once out on the road, Caston took the opportunity to ask his sketchy friend a few questions.

"So, where are you from? What do you do? Mercy, I never even got your name..." He said absentmindedly.

"My name is Delon, my surname is unimportant, and frankly, with what I do, I don't need everyone knowing who I am. And what I do isn't important either, you'll find that out soon enough." he said with a wink. "As to where I'm from... I don't believe I could tell you that, even if I wanted to. I've been on my feet travelling the world looking for suck- err, looking for opprotunities to make a few coins off of." he added.

"And your name?"

"Caston Carnaly. As you may have seen, my family owns a small sheep farm. I'm something of a wizard, but again, as you know, I have much to learn. I've lived in Haven all my life but have taken trips to market in Windrow several times. I've lived quite the boring life, really. Studying and helping as much as possible around the farm, not much else at all." Caston eyed the giant this time.

"And what about you? Do you even have a name?" As he asked that, he couldn't help but think that he didn't quite like the thieve's reserved and secretive nature. On the same token, Caston could see that the man was deceitful when he fancied it, but he felt that he wouldn't put one over on Caston. Whether the feeling was true, or why he felt this way, was yet to be determined.

The giant pondered this question for a long time as they walked down the road. He couldn't remember ever having a name. He was an outcast amongst his own people because of his insanity. His own kin had kicked him out of their home at a very young age. After awhile of walking in silence, he finally shook his head no.

The giant looked pensive, then finally answered no. Caston could see in his eyes some kind of sadness, something of a life from before.

The three continued on, until it was nearly dark. They were about 1/3 of the way to Windrow.

"Shall we make camp, or continue on? I, for one, and bone tired from everything that's happened."

The giant nodded. He grabbed some nearby branches and made a small fire using his flint and steel from his pack. He pointed to his eyes and then held up a finger, telling everyone he would take first watch. He then sat a good ways away from everyone else in the bushes, camouflaged, and motionless.

"I feel no exhaustion, but if you two feel it necessary...." Delon answered with a slight yawn. He then pulled out both of his blades, laid one across his abdomen as he propped up against a tree, and begin to re-poison each blade.

"I don't suppose you know much in the way of conjuring great feasts, Caston?" he asked.

"Actually, I was going to ask...the giant. You know, we need to come up with a name for you. I'm not very well going to keep calling you 'The Giant' and I'm certain you'd rather not have Delon calling you 'oaf' and 'brute'." Caston sighed. "Though you look the type that knows the wilderness, would it be too much to ask of you to make us some food?" He hoped the giant had heard him, he had disappeared into the woods. Caston felt he was still nearby.

The giant arose from his hiding place, and vanished off into the darkness, away from the camp. He looked around before finding what he was looking for. He bent over, and touched the scat left by a deer not 10 minutes before. He followed the tracks quietly. After a few minutes of walking, he spotted his pray. A nice buck grazing on some grass not 15 feet in front of him. His smile returned to his face. He crept up to the deer slowly. When he was a few feet away, his smile widened, showing his teeth. He leaped on the deer's back, and grabbed it by the throat. As he walked back to the camp, with the deer over his shoulder, he had the odd feeling he was being watched from somewhere. He looked around, but saw nothing out of place. When he got back to the camp, it had been a half hour since he had left. He threw the carcass on the ground by his pack, and removed the knife. As he skinned and gutted the animal, he pointed to Caston, then to his eyes, then to the sky. He then removed the animal's heart, and took a bite. He then offered it to Caston and Delon before removing the meat from the animal and skewering it. He placed the meat over the fire, took some raw meat left over, and went back to his spot to eat in peace.

"Not my idea of a feast... But it's better than I expected out of him." Delon muttered silently to himself. As the deer cooked over the fire, he watched the dancing flames and reflected on his goals and aspirations in life. "Hm." He shrugged, and reached towards the deer, ripped off a piece, lowered his face mask and began to eat. After finishing a large amount of meat, he took his face mask and wrapped it around his eyes, and drifted off to sleep...

Just as Caston had begun to think that the giant hadn't heard him, he returned to camp with a fully grown buck carcass. The first thing he did was cut out it's heart and take a bite. Caston was a bit put off by it, but his family often slaughtered several sheep a year to feed themselves, so he was no stranger to gore. He took the heart, and took a bite of it as well, hoping that it would please the giant. Delon had already eaten, and was now lying down. He apparently wasn't going to take part in the ritual. Caston offered the heart back to the giant and then ate. The meat was good, and tasted far different than lamb.

Once he was finished, Caston pulled a book from his knapsack and began to read. The book was called "Advanced Magic for the Blue Wizard". It was an old textbook that his father had given him on his birthday several years ago. Caston had read it through a dozen times, but had mastered only a fraction of the techniques within. He focused his mind, and toyed with the air surrounding him, testing several things. He took turns working on thickening the air, hurling it into the woods, he even managed to levitate himself a few inches off the ground. That was new. Caston focused on his studies with new vigor, wanting to be able to match the wizard if or when the time came.

Caston stood and decided it was time to try a few new things. Book in hand, Caston followed the directions to making an air barrier. It was tough, as one must thicken and manipulate the air in front of him until it is virtually solid. Having memorized the steps, he set the book down and went to work. Closing his eyes, he envisioned himself surrounded by white, the element of air. He could feel it, touch it. Concentrating, he began to manipulate it with protecting himself in mind. He reached out, and his hand went through the shoddy barrier.

"Blast," he muttered. He redoubled his concentration, and this time, imagined that he was protecting his family. His mother, sister, and father. He reached out, and the air in front of him was as solid as a brick house. He lowered his focus and let the barrier dissipate. Then, he was struck by a feeling of energy. He knew it was Dusk, but it wasn't the man himself. It was almost as if he had projected himself somehow, and was watching them.

Caston approached the giant. "Be careful. We're being watched."

The Giant grab both axes and stood up. He was looking all over for any sign of anybody watching them. When he didn't see anyone, he looked back at Caston. He then made a motion with his hand asking where the man was at.

Caston watched as the Giant seemed to get suspicious, looking around for whatever was watching. He gestured to Caston, as if to say "Where is he?"

"No, I don't think it's an actual presence, more like a spell. It's a magical energy. At any rate, he sees us, we don't see him. We certainly can't wander off into the forest in the dark in search of something, when we don't even know what it is. It would probably be better to stay near camp, where we can see and stick together."

Over his shoulder, Caston heard Delon tossing and turning in his sleep. He seemed to be sleeptalking as well.

Delon stirred on the ground, and shivered. Perhaps he had felt the presence too, but in his dreams, as it wasn't particularly cold next to the fire. He mumbled what sounded like "...No... Leave me..."

Johath, in his sleep next to the burner, stirred in his dreams. He shuddered, as if a wave of cold had washed over him, then turned over and kept sleeping.

The giant indicated towards Delon, and then Caston's area.

"R-r-r-r-e-e-e-e-s-s-s-t-t-t-t-t, n-n-n-n-o-o-o-o-o-w-w-w-w-w," he said in a deep, raspy voice.

OOC @ rat: Yeah, I figured as much. We haven't forgotten about you.

BIC: The giant strained to tell Caston that it was time to rest. Though he would rather have stayed up and done more studying, he was extremely tired. He didn't think he'd ever cast so many spells in one day, his mind was exhausted.

Caston made his way back to the fire, and pulled out his bedroll. He lay down on the opposite side of the fire as Delon. Eventually, he drifted off into a deep sleep.

Caston awoke the next morning, surprisingly refreshed. Delon was still asleep, or so it looked. He didn't mind, he'd always been an early riser. Caston grabbed some meat as well as his book, wandered to the treeline and sat down against a large oak tree. He would let the others awaken at their own pace. He was in no hurry, especially not now since food wasn't an issue. Face buried in his tome, Caston began to read about changing the temperature of air.

The giant awoke a little while after Caston. He noticed the only one still sleeping was Delon. He thought he'd have a bit of fun with him, so he gently lifted Delon, being careful not to wake him, and set him in the highest branch he could reach. He then ran over to Caston, and pointed to the still sleeping Delon way up in an Oak tree, and laughed.

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!"

Caston looked up to see the giant running towards him. He jumped up, thinking something was wrong. A huge smile plagued the face of the giant, and he pointed into the forest. Caston followed his finger, and saw that he had put Delon up in a tree, still asleep.

Caston laughed until his sides hurt and tears streamed down his face.
