You've gotta be kidding me. Then every early power player recognized by him is either a villager or dead?

... One thing doesn't add up, either. The "Janitor" didn't make his move last night. However, we know it can't just be a role thief, seeing as Justin's still a detective despite being mafia attacked night two. Three possible reasons are Scar made a mistake, the Janitor has to say he wants to clean up (activity issue), or only specific things can be cleaned up (role restriction). I don't believe it's the third; either the Janitor became inactive, or the host forgot the Janitor's role.

Any other "confirmed" players are the dead ones. Borrowing Paidea's logic that the opinions of "confirmed" players will go less challenged and simply more tested, one theory that has eaten at my mind is PenguinGuy. He claimed very early on, more than once, that he knew the mafia were Team Fortress 2 brand people. Since then, his activity has dwindled quite effectively. Call it one of those hunches I wish I'd pursue harder, but in the event that we're wrong about the more glaring options, he's my strongest bet of who to attack.

That said, Lander suspects Jackstick. Justin suspects me, and Riptide.

I said this before, and I'm not going back on it. I trust Riptide, if he's mafia, to make more mistakes and prove that to us. The fact that this is how he "normally acts" doesn't matter; he has been continuing what he was expected to do. Therefore, with Lander's suspicion apparently out of the way, Riptide.

@kik: I don't think the Jan did anything N2 either.
@Lander: Is it just me or you pushing all of kik's accusations to the side?

You're forgetting an option Jeff. The Janitor's role could be a limited-use thing.

On the subject of Paidea, I had ruled out Serial Killer due to there being no extra kill Night One. Generally how I've learnt it is that Serial Killers are forced to kill every night. Maybe he targeted Jaron that night, but whatever. It's not important.

Anyways.

Riptide.

I've been up and down on this issue, but the fact that he said

Riptide wrote:

that and then didn't vote for Monk really didn't sit well. It leads me to believe that he's scum and knew monk was scum, etc etc

The town again came to a quick consensus on who should die. It was decided that Riptide would be sent to the gallows to hang for his supposed crimes. As the noose was slipped around his neck he mumbled something under his breath that almost sounded like he was supporting his own death.

The lever was pulled and the rope snapped tight as all signs of life fled from Riptides body. After a terse moment of silence the remaining 7 villagers walked to Riptides home to see if they had chosen right.

As they tore the place apart, one villager opened a closet and noticed another door at the back of it. Behind that door was a room full of cleaning supplies, bloody mops, Pinesole, and a smudged list of names entitles Fellow Mafia.

It appeared the town had chosen correctly, Riptide had been a member of the infestation that was literally killing the town, once more he had been the one cleaning up the scene of the crimes as well.

It was storming that morning, the rain beat hard against the remaining villagers as they began to assemble at the center of their small rubble village. Again it appeared, one of them would not be coming. Topsummoner was missing, and everyone knew where he was even if they didn't want to say it.

As they came upon Tops home it looked almost peaceful. But when they stepped inside they saw a grizzly sight. Topsummoner lay dead on the floor, his body riddled with bullet holes. A quick check of the house revealed that Topsummoner had been an innocent Villager. With his death weighing heavily on their hearts and minds, the village moved back to the center of town to try and decide which of their small number would be offered to the gallows today.

Lucky for us, the mafia sucks at rolefishing, apparently.

Here's the skinny:

Myself, Defeat, and DC were all on board for both mafia trains. I also participated in the bluecoat train. DC and defeat did not.

Kikori was on board for the riptide train, but not the monk train. He was also on board the bluecoat lynch. It's also worth noting that Monk, Steely, and Riptide were all on that lynch as well...more likely than not, that was one hell of a mafia bus.

PG usually posts a lot, or at least enough to be seen as "active", yet he hasn't been around. He was on board the Monk train, not on board the Riptide train, and was aboard the bluecoat train.

Jack, jack, jack. He wasn't on board either of the mafia lynches, but then again, he wasn't on the blue lynch either. He DID however respond to his prod and continue on being inactive...

Right now I think it's safe to say our biggest suspects are Jack, PG, and kikori...Jack and PG for obvious reasons, kikori because he slyly avoided the monk train by targeting me for a seemingly "good" reason, but he knew where that was going, he really had no reason not to participate. :?: He made sure to get on the riptide train. That could just be because he knew that missing out on TWO mafia trains would be incredibly scummy...

The fact that he's even still alive is alarming. He's always told me that if/when he's alive late in the game, he's usually scum. :?: Then again, I'm baffled that I'm still alive...confirmed villager, I ought to have been the target last night. :-|

Since I expect kikori to respond, I'll go ahead and vote for Jackstick. His level of inactivity is pretty much unacceptable. That coupled with his voting patterns could be the perfect recipe for the last (or second to last) mafia.

Yeah. I concure. I'd like to hear what Kikid has to say, too.
I hate inactivity, and it seems kinda scummy to respond to prods, and not do anything...at all...so, Jackstick.

I think the villagers just might win this time! Yay!

I've said it once, I'll say it again. Any time an unchallenged detective reports a mafia, it's an insta-lynch for that person. Paidea very effectively destroyed any chance of "I was framed" being a potential defense, and needless to say, Monk was given absolutely no chance at a defense. He, was, dead, from, the, start. So why waste a chance to post my opinion about YOU when I knew it HE was going to die whether I voted for him or not?

As for Bluecoat, the exact same argument you're using against me could be used against you. You didn't buy into the Riptide lynch, so you voted for Bluecoat instead. But look who hammered in the lynch (you) compared to who started it? Lander, you came up a villager. But if Scar runs things closer to conventionally, then it's my belief you're the Godfather. You haven't gotten serious until just now, and the only association you've had with a mafia kill is jumping on trains that you didn't come close to starting. You believe Jackstick is mafia? I'll bite. You believe Penguin may be? That's actually where we share common ground. If they fail, though, I'm shooting for you.

Dragon, what's the investigation result?

Except the key thing you're missing is that I STARTED the train on Riptide back on pg 4, and you followed.

Landerpurex wrote:

It nearly took off (was up to 3 votes), but was stuffed when Steely made a case against bluecoat, which we both hopped on. I'm telling you, you're way off base. There's absolutely no way, if I were scum, that I'd start a train on Riptide, get on the Monk train, and then hammer Riptide. Given PG and jack's inactivity, it's likely that he could have lived.

Also, he was the janitor. Do you honestly think I would have bussed/participated in a lynch against my own power role?

Also, I'm tired of you using my "inactivity" against me. If you want an excuse, it's here:

me, 3rd post down on pg 18 of Tread the Path at Dusk wrote:

I hate to make excuses for inactivity during mafia games because sometimes people read way too far into them, but you seem unwilling to let it go. My friends went home yesterday, hence the increase in activity. Take it or leave it.

And you stopped the pressure on Riptide as soon as one single person voted for Bluecoat. The revival of the train that led to his lynch was in no way your doing.
And yes, I honestly believe you would have bussed or participated in a lynch against your own power role. If he's doomed, he's doomed. If you believe I'm a mafia, I'm pretty certain you'd draw the same conclusion for me. It would be entirely too risky to say "I don't want to lynch him" when other people will fill the holes; you'd look far too suspicious for specifically avoiding a lynch against your own power role.
Also, seeing as we villagers can't see the roles of the cleaned up deaths, the Godfather would know if the Janitor has served his purpose or not.

Getting serious does not translate to getting active. I've been quite active this entire time, but as you've seen, this topic isn't in the twenties for pages. :?: Try responding to that one again.

Also, now that I read your original post again...

Quote:

It might have been an oversight, but Defeat himself didn't come into the game until day Three. So to correct your statement, Blackmage didn't participate in the Bluecoat train. Sad to say, the psychology between them would be different.

I was questioning him before the train ever started, so jumping ship wasn't that much of a stretch. At that time, steely's argument made sense and only served to make Blue commit more mistakes. Couple that with the feelings I already had (quoted above), and yeah, I felt justified in voting for him. Frankly, that was just an ugly lynch in which a lot of mafia members as well as (now confirmed) townies took part in.

kikori wrote:

I don't follow you here. Are you saying I'm not/haven't been serious? It was Tahu and I (and your vote on me) that got things rolling (dare I say) earlier than usual on D1. Also, see my response to that crazy train on me from D2. Other than that, we've had DC oust a mafia member, which ate up a day. Also, you've been harassing me all game long :P, I've hardly had any opportunity to mount any kind of offense. Now that I'm confirmed and you're *slightly* off my back, yes, you'll see a change in my playstyle.

Also, my usual level of "seriousness" involves long-winded posts as well as painstakingly re-reading the thread and assembling evidence. Things I can't do that well when occupied. Again, take it or leave it.

kikori wrote:

 You got me there. But if defeat/blackmage were scum, I'd have expected them to have voted for Blue, knowing he was a townie. So my logic *sort of* still applies. Of course, BM could have simply missed the lynch. Still, the fact that they he didn't vote for blue but voted in both mafia trains statistically makes him the most innocent looking non confirmed villager at this point.

I have a question. Top was found in his home riddled w/ bullet holes.

My question is this: Is someone who dies always found in their home, or can they be found elsewhere?

We still potentially have a doctor, but it's HIGHLY doubtful. If the doctor were to die, Dragon would have no more protection, and would therefore be dead as soon as possible. Whatever Jaron and Tweedy were, it's safe to say they weren't our doctor. Wish I could claim it, but I can't. :?:

Sleep time. Hopefully I can get a response out to Lander before going to work.
