Assuming Lander's not lynched, the day is going to continue. Nothing is "over".

Already this variant's intent is clear. Neighbors may communicate. If they can somehow truly confirm partnership, it can end up with many teams of people who can back up each other in trying to clear the mafia. If the mafia's neighbor is a villager, it allows for a chance to deception, HOWEVER also a chance at investigation by communication alone.

This is a game of trust and deception, with a greater window to build both. And before there's any great deceptions from anyone who's prone to skimming messages or posts, let me make one observation quite clear. Your neighbor does not know your alignment or role. And vice versa. So no being reckless, kids.

Wait a sec. Nine people. Neighbor pairs.

Someone's either the hosts' neighbor or caught out in the cold.

It could easily be possible people have multiple neighbours.

Or that neighbors aren't actually properly paired. For example...
Monk -> Godders -> Henry -> Me -> Tahu -> Scar -> Monk
I know I left a few names out, but if that's the case, we're looking at a lot more win conditions for people than we think. Personally, I'm up for solving this Neighbor issue ASAP. Assume nothing doesn't work with me--I'd like to see if neighbors are actually paired or not. And for better or worse, I know for sure that it's not something that can explicitly oust a mafia. Given we're not told the alignments of our neighbors, they'd just be another name in the chain.

Crap, hit Submit instead of Full Editor.
ANYWAY. The idea stands: how many of you are up for actually properly creating a list of neighbors so we know who's "paired", at least?

I don't see how it will help at all... knowing who is in a pair with who does not help us find out who is mafia at all, and if there is an odd one out they could easily be a special role who you force to roleclaim, or they are paired with Lander as someone suggested?

It'd be a long waste of time and all we'd have is a list of pairs at the end of it. I'd soon try to lynch someone so we can gather information from that.

For all we know, the unknown variant could mean that the neighbour thing is completely irrelevent :/

Well, I'm assuming that Lander saw this loophole, but.... The mafia is usually 1/3 of the town, right? That'd leave 6 people, or 3 pairs. But if the mafia have neighbors as well, then yeah.

You guys can't kill me! I'm the helpless Mayor...you should want to help me.

NOTE: I am not actually part of this game. I inserted myself in the story for flavor.

On a related note:

ALSO, you all have played mafia before. You should know that I will not compromise the mechanics of this game, this means I will not discuss anything that I think might do so. I also will not give specific role information, obviously. This includes, but is not limited to, what roles are in the game and what they do/do not do.

BUT again. I will answer any appropriate questions to the best of my ability, and I have already answered several, as well as declined to answer several. If you're unsure if it's inappropriate, it can't hurt to ask. The worst I'll do is say I can't answer you.

Nope. The closest thing you said to that was, "You owe me." Nothing about voting for me on D1.

Let's all give Henry a big round of applause for the "No Fuzzy Bunny" award.
Variant. Extra flavors. Sometimes useless and sometimes useful. How else are we going to find out except to either wait for a post-game explanation or figure it out in game? I'm still asking for everyone's opinion on making a list, though, not just yours. One for, one against.
And for a somewhat related reason, Dr Henry. Normally I like to wait for a day to kill off anyone who's died at the start of the most recently played game. But openly admitting you think it's a waste of time to try to figure out the setting and any associated rules? No me gusta.

Let's explore "Neighbors" for a second. In my role PM, I was given a neighbor and a condition that I can win if my neighbor and I are alive at the end of the game. If this is the same case for everyone else, then Henry technically can get back at Riptide by making sure Riptide's neighbor is lynched.

Hey, Henry. Suddenly the idea of finding out who is neighbors with who just got a little better. After all, if everyone can win with their neighbors, it gives us a little incentive to guard them and to know why someone is being guarded.

My feelings against Henry's "It's a waste of time to try" stand, but without the cooperation of the majority, patterns and pairings can't be confirmed. Interest checking and rallying is not a "waste of time". Attempting to go through with something that everyone is against, however, is. One step at a time.
