[RP/Full] Hope to the Hopeless…

Ouur'mm looked over to the large tree over the roadway scanning over it for movement. He points up to specific branches. "There are a few of them here. Mmmm'hmm yes. Distraction, you should one need I determine. My accuracy, will be neglegable. You must be fast to act." Having said this he gathers some stones and moves over to a large downed. Repeatedly he stands up and swiftly tosses the stones full force up into the tree. The stones travel fast curving a bit in the air from their spin smacking into the tree in splintered impacts.

Clangs and thuds could be heard off in the distance as the twins continued back towards the town they had come from. The two spoke to themselves and each other at the same time, eyes ahead of them as if they were merely thinking out loud.

"Master would not have approved of what we did."

"Master is no longer here to tell us what to do."

"Hope. Master always told us to never give up on hope, and yet we just have."

"We did no such thing. Tonight was not the last we saw of them."

"What will we do?"

There was a small silence before they replied to themselves, finishing the conversation.

"Hope."

OOC: Ugh, I don't have enough time to read through all the posts... so please tell me where everything is happening... I got to get through the letter thing though...

IC: Hail Vevis. We were a great people once, brave and strong. Though you wouldn’t know it if you saw us now. We are a defeated race, crushed in spirit and body. Never before has such awfulness been seen - it is wretched. Our warriors were vanquished. Our husbands, wives, and children were taken into slavery. Who can we turn to? We have nothing to offer, but we have heard you would be a hope to the hopeless. Please, help us. A map has been enclosed with this letter, if you would so choose, go to the woods. A path will guide you further…

Vevis was rather shocked by the sudden appearence of the cloaked man, but read through the letter and decided he must go to the woods. "I suppose I have no choice..."

OOC: Long story short? People enslaved, soon to be executed.As for what's happening now, the party's under attack by a group of scouts shooting a lot of arrows. I'm taking on two of them, Jargg came to assist but got knocked grazed in the leg. He managed to take down one enemy, though. Ouur'mm is hurtling stones into the enemies and the trees around them to halt the arrows for a while. As for Tommy and Tammy, they're debating on whether or not to join the fray.

Lamont stood up, noticing the dwarf take down one of the two enemies knocked off the trees.
"He was supposed to get more enemies of his own, this doesn't help us as much!" Lamont whispered. He eventually rushed in to the other of the two enemies that had been knocked down. Lamont began swinging his blades madly to knock the enemy's sword around, eventually finding an opportune opening to hew the enemy's kneecaps with one well-placed swing. The enemy dropped his blade in pain, which Lamont kicked away. With one disabled enemy to interrogate later, Lamont walked over to Jargg, happy that someone was stopping the arrows for now.
Lamont knelt down next to the dwarf. "You okay? That wound doesn't seem too deep, but it could cause trouble."

OOC: Thank you Kikori. Also, yes, one vs. five MAX, but don’t make a habit of it!

BIG: Gualbert, seeing his chance now that the archers were distracted, jumped down off the cliff and ran toward one the scouts on foot that was running toward Ouur'mm’s bunker. Catching him off-guard, Gualbert speedily disabled his foe with a broad sweep of his sword to the right arm and leg.

An archer must have caught on to Guabert however, as just then an arrow punctured his shield. Gualbert, perceiving the threat, hurried over to Ouur'mm, barley avoiding another arrow before jumping behind his fellow’s fallen tree.

OOC: I was only saying that would be the scenario if we were completely surrounded. It's a group of seven vs. a group of supposedly twelve... I doubt I'd go and take five for myself. Especially with such a mortal, normal character

BIC...

Lamont heard as Gaulbert disabled (or killed) another of the set. He racked his head for information to use... One disabled, two dead. However, that was only three out of five of whatever the party was facing at the moment. Apparently the rest were far off shooting the arrows. However, it would be fairly too dangerous to go and attack them close up.
"This is going to be heavy..." Lamont picked up the bow from the disabled being and the dead one next to him, as well as both of their quivers. He then put Jargg's arm over Lamont's shoulder and heaved him upward, jogging toward Gaulbert and Ouur'mm. He kept one blade in hand should the two enemies in front of Lamont turn around to attack.
"Hopefully Gaulbert and Ouur'mm won't have trouble from those two in front of us... I'm too weighed down to catch up and I can't shoot an arrow right to save my life."

Blades flashed into the hands of the twins who now stood on branches behind the archers that were laying a heavy barrage on the group. Two in each hand, making eight throwing daggers all together, flew when Tommy and Tammy flicked their wrisks with a quick snap. Four fell fead, twin blades lodged into their skull. Before the other three archers knew where it came from, the twins had both pounched into one each, Tommy choosing the throat while Tammy decided to pierce the heart through the back.

The last archer was quick to think and had no trouble knocking another arrow to take down at least one of the two. His target was the more feminine looking, although they had very few differences. Seeing the archer with Tommy's set of eyes, Tammy dashed from branch to the nearest trunk, wrapping her arms around it to stay there, narrowly missing a barbed arrowhead. Something grabbed the feet of the last archer and yanked him loose from the branch he was on. Tammy already knew it was Thomas. As the two of them fell, Tommy turned his hand dagger backwards and struck the man's head with the pommel of it and jumped away, using the man's body as footing and latched onto a tree trunk the same way Tammy had before.

Thomas studied the archer for a moment. He was still breathing, but his mind was not with him yet. In an hour or so he would recover and that satisfied the twins. Without even regarding the group they lept off into the darkness again still toying with the word in their mouth, "Hope".

OOC: Should I just lose the italics entirely? It seems a bit hard to read...

Lamont heard the screaming to his left, where someone was taking down multiple of the enemies at once. About seven dull "thump"s were heard, and Lamont hoped that those were the archers. However, he cursed to himself.
"Well, that blows the reason for me grabbing this extra equipment. Time to take out the rest of these scouts." Lamont released Jargg and yanked off the equipment. Hopefully Jargg would be okay, he hadn't made much movement since his own assault. Lamont drew his blades and charged at the two remaining enemies, wondering if Ouur'mm and Gaulbert realised that those two were the only enemies left. Lamont began to yell as he approached, and the enemies turned around in suprise.

OOC EDIT: I think as long as you use the OOC and BIC acronyms, Knux, you can drop the italics. I think.

Ouur'mm picks up the log about waist height and launches it at the two men pinning them to the ground. He grabs his poll-arm while stomping out to where they collided. "Fssss hmmmm. Those two should be... nonfunctional now. Save these or are they a 'liability' problem?" He takes the helmet off one of the men still struggling under the log. Looking over it and scanning the insignia marked on the front he remarks "Do you recognize this design sir Gaulbert? It seems consistant with each of these men I have seen currently. Ambush, by these people. Organized and well planned, poorly excecuted."

Lamont slowed to a jog, then a simple trot. He stopped when he came to the disabled men under the large log in front of him.
"Before we do anything, keep in mind Jargg's wounded behind me, as well as one disabled enemy. We have at least three people to interrogate."
Lamont looked to his side, where those seven thudding sounds came from earlier. He whispered to himself, "Could Tommy and Tammy have come back to deal with those enemies? If so, it seems they succeeded, since there's been no more arrows."

Jargg stumbled up to where the figures were hunched over a log "Huh, thanks for the support but I'll be alright tis but a scratch" He readjusted his spear so that he could use it as a crutch somewhat. "Aye, looks like we got us some fools that weren't quick enough to get away. Hmm no more arrows?" He pointed to Gaulbert "You're called Gaulbert, right? Did you send some men to take care of them without us noticing?"

Gualbert looks around, “No, I didn't... and three to interrogate Lamont? Don't you mean two…?”

Suddenly the footsteps of many men and the sounds of weapons clinging could be heard coming down the road. Gualbert motions for the party to hide behind the fallen tree. “More?” Gualbert whispers.

The men made their way closer, and when in sight, Bal’doll could be seen as their leader. Gualbert stands and hails Bal’doll: “Welcome my friend!” “Gualbert! I’m glad you made it! Are there any more?” “No my friend, just these few here left living.” Bal’doll looked at the two injured men, and motioned for the men following him to kill them. They moved out quickly from behind him, unsheathed their daggers, and finished off the scouts.“But Bal! They could have-” “No Gualbert. They would have killed you and your friends if they got the chance. They are our enemies, when will you learn that?” Gualbert starred at the carnage before him and muttered under his breath “There has been too much death already…” “Be at rest my friend” said Bal’doll calmly, “There will be peace one day.”

Gualbert nodded “It will be morning soon. We should get these bodies off the road and go back to the clearing, then get some rest before the battle. Also, Lamont, be not afraid for Jargg, the mighty men of the mountains are not so easily subdued by one arrow, as I'm sure you know of your dwarf parent if you ever saw 'em take an arrow. Is everyone else alright?”

Lamont chuckled. "I'm okay. And I would venture to guess that it was Tommy and Tammy doing that. The thunks came about at the same time each time, after all."
Lamont looked over to Gualbert. "I disabled one back near that tree, he can't walk unless he uses his hands for feet. The the two that Ouur'mm has pinned under the tree. So yes, I meant three when I said it."
Lamont was uneasy about one thing. Between seven thudding sounds to where they came from, two weren't symmetrical by sound. It's possible that it was an ally slain instead of an enemy.
"Someone go check for that disabled soldier I just mentioned. I need to find something out for myself." Lamont headed toward where he heard the sounds earlier to find six of the enemies on the ground... Thankfully no friendly faces... Hold on, only six? Lamont scanned the ground, noticing one slowly moving figure, as though it was crawling. Lamont rushed to it to find it was the seventh enemy in the set, having been disabled but regained consciousness. (Fast healer, the wound he held was large.) Lamont jumped on his back and held the person's hands behind his head. "Now you come with me, we don't want a scout getting back to his master."
Lamont led his wounded prisoner back to the group. "That makes another to interrogate." Lamont pushed the prisoner onto the ground, keeping one foot on the man's back to prevent him from escaping.

OOC: Knux, had to make sure that one soldier you let live didn't cause later trouble for us

IC: Following the map through the forest, Vevis eventually came across a group of people... under attack! Drawing a dagger, Vevis quickly ran into the fray. He saw someone keeping someone else pinned to the ground with his foot. "What is happening here? Can I help?"

It’s okay Topsummoner, Vevis went with our party to the rock. We could just say he hasn’t done anything “important”… yet. You can just start from my last story post (four posts up) and we can just 'assume' that you had been with us the whole time.

Here is a quick synopsis of the story: there are these people, exiles from conquered lands, who are about to all be killed by the ‘new king’ because of prejudices. You are a ‘freedom fighter’ of sorts against the king. This night, we are going to attack a castle, but right now we had to deal with a bunch of scouts from the town nearby who somehow had found out about the location of where the ‘freedom fighters’ were hiding. Now we are cleaning up from winning the battle with the scouts and preparing for the battle against the castle.
