"I didn't plan on telling her, anyway. Or even joining her for that matter. At least not yet. We definitely need to keep an eye and ear open though and see if she has some ulterior motives."

Nick sat down on the couch and relaxed for a little bit. He was comforted to know that even Tabitha had something strange about her as well. He didn't feel so alone anymore.

OOC: I actually wrote that conversation to specifically be confusing. But, if you want me to split up the dialoge a bit more, I will.

BIC: Charlie said to his mom, "I'm gonna go take a walk for a while, I'll be back later." "Ok, Charlie. Be safe." Charlie walked outdoors. He walked towards the nearest park to his house (OOC: I hope there is one.) He walked over to a small pond there, and sat in the sand. He grabbed a handfull, and let is fall through his fingers. His head was spinning. Vulcanologist and arctic researcher. Others with powers. Controlling temperature. He was having trouble focusing on one thing. As he left some sand in his palm, he heated up the sand. He closed his hand, and then re-opened it to find that the sand was now glass. He dropped it to the ground, stood up, and continued walking.

Quinn walked into the electronics store and immediately headed for the MP3 player section and started looking at the selection. "Anything I can help you with?" asked the guy behind the desk. "Oh, no thanks; I'm just looking...but I'll probably get something eventually." He didn't really want to be 'sold' the MP3 players or told all about their sizes and capabilities. He already knew he wanted an iPod, it was just coming down to what size and what color. Being an expensive decision, he took his time browsing them all, making sure he would be satisfied with whatever choice he would end up making.

"When do you get off, Dean?" came a voice from nearby. Quinn ignored most of the conversation, but unnoticably perked up when Dean mentioned him. Ah, great, that's annoying; now it feels like I'm being rushed. It's kind of his job to be here anyway... The further discussion, though, made him glance up and realize that it was Stephanie standing there, talking to Dean. "Tabby has a thing fo--"...is that how these rumors get started? Jeez. Quinn tried to come up with some sort of denial or retort, but two sentences later and Stephanie was already gone. Quinn sighed. "Um, I'll take this one, please," he said, pointing to an 8 GB purple iPod.

Quinn left the store holding a plastic bag, already thinking about how to organize his playlists when he got home. It was getting dark already, but the street lights weren't quite on yet. He rounded the corner of the store and headed down the alley towards the next street over. A gruff, older voice suddenly came from behind him: "Give me your iPod." Quinn nearly jumped, not realizing anyone had been behind him. He turned around, expecting it to be some friend offering to give him tips on how to install it or something. But no, instead, there was some guy in a big coat that Quinn had never seen before. "...Excuse me?" "The iPod. Hand it over," the man repeated. Is this man for real? Myron County has, like, a really low crime rate. This is stupid. "I don't know what you're talking about," Quinn said, beginning to slowly back backwards in the direction he had been heading. The man immediately pulled out a gun and aimed it right in Quinn's face, who didn't take another step. It's for real it's for real it's for real it's for real

"Don't play dumb with me. I watched you buy it. Now hand it over." Quinn was too overcome with complete and utter terror to move or even speak. Annoyed at the delay, the man stepped forward and grabbed Quinn's right wrist, which was holding the bag. For a moment, Quinn was so enraged at the situation that despite the gun, he felt like using his free left arm to punch the man in the face.

But common sense prevailed and Quinn was too terrified to move again, about ready to let the bag just slide off of his wrist so the man could pick it up. All of a sudden, the man let go of Quinn and took three or four slow steps backward, never wavering in his gun's aim. What...what's he...doing? was all Quinn could manage to think. A voice came out of the blue from the alley's entrance on the side of the electronics store. "HEY! STOP!" The man wheeled around in fright to see someone running at him, then turned again and bolted straight past Quinn, down the the end of the alley, around the corner and out of sight.

Shaken, Quinn released the breath that he hadn't realized he was holding in and focused on the newcomer. It was some other guy that he also didn't recognize, but that mattered little. "Hey--are you okay? Do you--should I call 911 or take you to a hospital?" "I'm..." Quinn could barely speak. It actually scared him how shaken he was by the whole thing, in spite of it all. He was fine now, of course, but apparently couldn't get that through to his head. "I'm...fine. There's no need to...call the police or anything. He's gone now anyway. ...Thank you for showing up." "It's no problem," the man said, "but are you sure you're alright?" Quinn steadied himself. "Yeah. I'll be okay. I'm, uh...going to head for home. Thanks again..." He walked back towards the entrance of the alley on the electronics store side, and started heading for home, determined to take all the main roads this time.

BIC: Charlie looked up at the sky. A few stars were out, even with the light pollution. He walked around a bit, and saw a guy pointing a gun at another guy. The guy with a gun suddenly ran away, and another guy came over to the mugged guy. Charlie couldn't hear any words, but he quickened his pace. The man left, leaving the other guy to walk alone. Charlie hurried over. "Hey, man. You okay?" He looked at the guy. "Hey, do I know you? I think I've seen you in school or something."

OOC: Just so I don't mess up the time scheme in the thread, Jack stayed in school for a while after class to do his homework and mess around on the school network when nobody's watching.

IC:
After deciding to take a detour to enjoy the landscape of the neighborhood, Jack realized it was starting to get late. He began to slow down, and stopped at a nearby lamppost, setting his bike to lean onto it, as he reached into his pocket to pull out his iPhone, while removing his earplugs with the other.

"Hi mom, it's me. I'm staying over at Rick's place for the evening. I'll be back later."
"Yes mom, I'll be sure to eat something healthy. No mom, I won't forget to lock the door when I get home. And yes, I'll give the cat some fresh water." Jack then proceeded to nervously scan the area to see if no-one was within hearing range of him.
"Yeah, love you too mom." he said as he hung up.

After a surprisingly short trip, he arrived at the site, parking his bike at another convenient nearby lamppost (OOC: It's around twilight when he arrives) and pulled out the camera he used for his Youtube vlogs. Pressing the "record" button and pointing the camera at his face, he began his introduction.
"Hey there youtube. As some of you might've seen already, some strange thing happened with this house here in Myron County, mostly the fact that it randomly caught fire and just as randomly stopped burning." Jack then faced the camera into the direction of the house. "I'm at the actual site currently, but from what I see it's been completely stripped bare. Little strange for a common housefire, no?"

"Anyway, that's all for today, thanks for watching, be sure to thumbs up and subscribe to my channel." He then stopped the recording, and headed back to his bike.

ooc: it's fine to ' be behind' in time a bit like if you miss posting for a while and you planned on doing something eg right after school, then it would be fine to post as say, 3pm when most of us might be conversing at 6pm.

regarding the burnt down house...

The site of the burnt down house is almost entirely 'cleaned'

Basically all that remains is the concrete slab the house was on and the outline of the foundation. There are some traces of the burn on the slab itself, but otherwise the ground around it just has tracks from heavy equipment. You won't be able to find any evidence of shots fired or parts of the house.

The way the phone was found was that when the fire was put out, the water washed the cellphone into the drain. So there would be evidence of the ground having been extremely wet and lots washed away.

So sorry, but there's not much left of the burn site which in itself is suspicious don't you think? A burned down house demolished and removed over night.

A familiar groaning sound came from Tabitha and she looked up in embarrassment. "Well yes I get hungry.. ... It IS Friday, Papa Leo has that calzone deal. We could go there if you want, my treat." She pulls her phone from her pocket sliding out both the keypads to check her e-mail while she waits on people to decide. Her phone is a custom one-off prototype design by a company closely linked to her father, high res OLED screen, very light weight but durable. "I could even order from here if you know what you would like. The best one is the pepperoni and sausage calzone. They have others, of course, but that is what I will be getting."

The small one in the middle is the clearest of what it looks like, I might do a final version later. The left larger one is just closer when I was working out how it would flip open.

Hidden:

The right pad has the nav-pad and more keys, the left pad is the primary dialing pad and the other half of the keyboard which can be used on its own or with the second pad for a full keyboard.

The street lights were on by now, and Quinn was walking down the sidewalk towards home. Someone else came up to him and asked if he was okay. Quinn looked up, kind of wary of everyone and everything for the time being, but it looked to be someone he vaguely recognized as an upperclassman at school. "Oh, hi there...yeah, I'm, um, fine, thanks," he said to the first question. And to the second, "Yeah, I think so, too. You're a Junior, right?"

Nick was pretty hungry.

"Just get me the same thing."

He sat back on the couch and closed his eyes for a few minutes thinking about Tabitha's robotics.

Is she a complete robot? or is she part human? This is just weird, because I never would have guessed. Is everyone a robot?

He got creeped out by that thought quickly, and decided to think about something else.

Joining Stephanie's group may be an option further down the road. It'd be nice to have a bunch of people that knew about their powers and knew what they were doing. If they do end up trying to stop these people from killing or removing anyone with abilities, he'd definitely want to help out. It would be something he'd have to think a lot about before making a move either way.

"Tabitha, do you think Stephanie would sell all those people in that group out?"

Tabitha enters in the orders. "Um, I just went ahead and got you the same thing, Shane."

"It would not surprise me. Particularly if they turned on her. She has been in this school at least as long as I have.. but I do not know if any of this group HAS betrayed her."

She sends a text message to Quinn
"3 of us are going to Papa Leo, do you want to go?" while continuing to say
"She heads a lot of the cheerleading events. She was pretty ... um the best word... irate, when I quit. Father did not like me on the team. I kind of liked it though..."

"I suppose we should get going," She says checking the time. She waits at the door as everyone leaves pressing the electronic lock on the outside and follows along toward the business district downtown.

"Nice to meet you," Quinn said, extending an arm. "Quinn Fletcher. I'm a Sophomore. And...um, no. I just bought an iPod and apparently he wanted to take it from me, but it didn't really turn out that way..." It was around this time he heard his phone play it's text message sound, and opened it to see a text from Tabitha. 3 of us...must mean Shane and Nick, I assume? Quinn wrestled with the idea of going or not going. On the one hand, he rather wanted to just head home, where it would be safe. On the other hand, he was safe now, and since this was the first time in the over four years he'd been in Myron County that anything like this had happened to him, it was super unlikely that 'lightning would strike twice'. Added to that, he feared that if he didn't go, they might take it as a sign that he wasn't interested in doing stuff with them, and not ever invite him again. He texted her back: "That sounds good, actually, thanks. Are you on your way now? I'll meet you there." Papa Leo's wasn't all that far away, actually, but it also meant he didn't have time to go home and drop his new iPod off. He opened a pocket in the jacket he was wearing and put it in there instead. "I'll probably see you at school next week, then!" Quinn said to Charlie, turning a new corner in the direction of Papa Leo's.

Shane's meditation was pretty thorough. He kind of cursed himself for needing it as often as he did, but the thoughts in his head took some time to finally settle; he hadn't removed his headphones through the talk he could hear, but every word was still absorbed. Stephanie, a ringleader of a group of magic kids? Where did that leave Erin? If Stephanie may have caused the fire, that would leave Erin to be the one to put it out, but why would she be left for dead like that? The thoughts swam and brought up more, needing to be set to rest at least some before he could feel easy enough about the situation to speak.

The only thing left was his mental debate between showing what he was capable of, or not. He had intended to, with Tabitha alone, as a repayment for having shared a secret. Nick's appearance put a wildcard on the situation that lasted through Tabitha's placing the orders. 'I'm not the biggest fan of sausage, but it and pepperoni isn't bad.' He sighed and pulled his headset off his ears, letting the unbearable song finally stop assailing his head. "I hate having to listen to that crap..." Shane rubbed his head and stood up, slinging his bag back across his shoulder and walking through the doorway.

The downtown area was in sight after walking a few blocks. Tabitha took some time to check her e-mail while walking along. As they pass the service alley behind some of the businesses a voice whispers out.

"Hand it over, don't mess around or I'll shoot."

Tabitha turns to see the same dirty older man that tried to rob Quinn pointing a stout revolver.

"Your fancy little phone, I'm only givin' you a second and I'm not ****in around" He says pulling back the hammer.

She stands motionless for a moment looking at the gun Slotted chamber, short barrel, it looks like a .357.. is it dual or single action... he cocked it. If I can grab the chamber before the second shot.. "You want it? Take it." She says throwing it like a Frisbee at him. As soon as it smacks his face, she sprints two long steps to him grabbing the chamber of the gun as it fires into her upper arm. She twists the gun and pulls it from his hand pointing it back at him. The man runs off and she drops the gun into her handbag.

She leans against the wall pulling out a bandage roll wrapping the shot. "Just keep quiet about this.. " She says glaring back. "I can not risk people finding out. I will be fine. Looks like my phone is toasted though."

Nick stood frozen as the man tried to mug them. He then watched as Tabitha grabbed his gun and was shot in her arm. The assailant took off running, and Nick took off after him. He was much fast than the old man, and caught up with him quickly and tackled him to the ground. And punched him twice in the face, stunning him.

He sat on his chest pinning his arms to the ground.

"Tabitha," he yelled, " I've got him!"

"GET OFF ME DEMON You won't be eatin my soul any time soon I'll kill you just you wait" The mugger says with his half toothless methmouth struggling and grunting.

"Great now what do we do with him.." Tabitha mumbled walking over to where he was. The man was an obvious meth-head type. She managed to cover up the bandage on her arm so that it was mostly out of sight. After looking around, she finds some steel wire and ties his hands up. "Well.. that should keep him. The station is pretty close.. Mm I guess I will meet you at the pizza place? I just would rather avoid the questioning." she finishes whispering to Nick

Nick pulls out his cell phone, and dials 911 and gave them his location.

When they arrived, he explained that the man had held a gun to them and attempted to take their phones and money. Nick knocked the gun out of his hands and a shot went off and then proceeded to chase the man down. He left out Tabitha entirely, and hoped that if the man said anything about her, the cops would just assume he was cracked out.

After buffing off any fingerprints of hers from the chamber, Tabitha dropped the gun under a bush nearby so the police might find it. I wish he had not mentioned it, but it was probably too risky to keep anyway. Instead of waiting around for Shawn and Nick, she just continued to Papa Leo's. She looked at her broken phone and thought about her arm which still hurt, but she managed to hide the injury well enough. It would be inevitable to explain it with the phone broken. Her hand occasionally twitched involuntarily probably from the hit. She decided to hide it by keeping that hand in a pocket most of the time.

She opens the door to find Quinn inside. "Hey, I forgot to ask. What did you want to order. I figure I can cover this since it was my idea. It will be no problem for me anyway. The Friday special is good."

The manager (A tall man with a short black beard) interjects "She gets it every time sausage and pepperoni.. my right Tabitha"

"Mhm, I had three orders. My other friends should be here soon." She says finding an open table.

Quinn saw Tabitha enter not too long after he had arrived. "Oh, you don't have to do that," he said at first when she offered to pay for their meals, but she kept right on talking. He followed her to an open table. "That sounds great, I'll take one of those as well," he said to the manager before sitting down. Quinn's liking of Pepperoni + Sausage pizzas was only surpassed by his love of only Pepperoni pizzas, so he didn't really mind getting the 'Friday special' at all. "Where are the others?" Quinn asked offhand, noticing that although Tabitha had come in the door first, there was no one behind her. "Nick and Shane, I assume?"

"They are all on their way. A scruffy looking guy tried to mug us. Nick took care of him and the police have him now. I went on ahead so you were not waiting alone here." Tabitha said taking her drink from the waiter. "It really is fine though. Father gives me plenty to take care of expenses. I really have little to spend on; so if I can do something nice and help out, I do not mind... What is the bag for?" She finishes pointing out the bag from the electronics store. She takes out her phone with the cracked screen. "I ended up breaking my phone by accident... Father got it from a company he does research for... Hopefully I can get a new one. It was supposed to be 'super durable' even.."
