Eoin Colfer has confirmed that there will be a sixth Artemis Fowl book named Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox. The release date for the UK is set for 7 August 2008; the US is set for 15 July 2008.[1] In Colfer's video blogs, he mentions the book saying it may not be the last but the last one for at least 3 years.[2]

Plot

Eoin Colfer has said in an online interview that the book will have Artemis's mother sick and dying. She needs brain fluid from an extinct animal. Ironically, Artemis himself had killed the last of that kind of animal a few years earlier. To get the LEP to let him time travel, Artemis makes Holly think that it's her fault that his mother is dying. When Artemis goes back in time, he sees a younger version of himself (when he was still rude and mean and cared only about gold). This time Artemis must face the most dangerous of all opponents, himself.[3]

Information from Colfer

* Eoin Colfer has confirmed that the book will be named Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox.
* Colfer has also stated that the two siblings of Artemis Fowl are both boys, with the names Myles and Beckett,[4] but had earlier stated that he had been leaning toward Jonathan and Finian.[5]
* It has been stated that this book will fully explain the Hamburg event, mentioned in the first book.
* Colfer has stated that the action will take place in Finland, Ireland, Scotland and Morocco, and will involve a creature that has slept for millennia, more time travel, irritating younger twin brothers, and an evil hypno-therapist called Dr. Kronski.[4]
* The first chapter will take place at Helsinki Harbour. [6]

About time. Sounds interesting, but I didn't know the LEP had time travel (maybe he got No1 to help him?).
Also, I've heard that Major Trouble Kelp will be heavily involved in this book, with a possible romantic relationship between him and Holly. That'll be something to see.

Ah, it's back!

Loved these books, expecially the first and third.

Loved them too. Is this the 6th or 7th? I still haven't read the 5th one - the one with the Lost Colony or whatever. I'm still waiting on a movie to be made.

6th. Lost Colony was the fifth. However, there was a supplement between Eternity Code and Opal Deception.
I'm not sure there will be a movie. I saw an ad for it once...five years ago.
I'm also still wishing Eoin Colfer would release sequels to some of his other books, namely Supernaturalist. Wish List is pretty much all wrapped up.

Looks exciting, I enjoy reading this series very much.

I'm not very fond of the cover image though. What's that in his hand? A PDA?

EDIT: 1000posts.

Keep in mind, the UK covers are always different from the NA ones. Take a look at some of the other UK covers. I didn't like those ones either. :P

I can't wait for it to come out. A little over a month. In the mean time, I'm going to reread Lost Colony.

I think this is the American cover, not entirely sure. Sorry about the size, it's the largest one I could find.

This looks awesome, I love this series. It'll be a great thing to read about. I wrote a fan fic short story a few years dealing with time travel, though he went way back in time, to when the fairies were still topside and not forced underground, and he made the time machine and Holly got dragged in to the whole thing. I wonder if I still have it. And the whole Hamburg incident will be explained!

I liked the series also. Can't wait for this one. If I get it, I will actually have something to read until the 10th pendragon book comes out in 2009 or 2010.

Yeah I think the cover Arthenon posted is the US cover, seeing as the title is in the same place as the other 5 books.

As for a movie, it's kind of in developmental hell. A few kids were asked to play the part of Artemis, but nature took its place and they grew too old.

Yeah, finding a twelve-year-old who's smarter than 99% of the adult population of the world (or one who can fake it) is pretty hard.

Speaking of Colfer's other books.

The Wish List was great but not the best.

The Supernaturalist was amazing. He did leave it a bit loose-ended but I can't see a way to make a sequel that's better than the first book. I mean,

Hidden:
Stefan died and now there's only 3 of them left.

Something funny I found - Eoin Colfer recycles a lot of his ideas. I read a hell of a lot more back in 4th grade than I do now, but I noticed that Stefan Bashkir (main character in Supernaturalist) was Artemis's alias in the second book. There was another connection I found, but I can't remember anymore.

I realized that too. One example is Myishi in Wish List, who was the head of the company by the same name, which also appeared in Supernaturalist.

Actually they do have some gear that can effect time for example:in the 1st book i believe, they stopped time to get holly back from artimis.

That was localized time distortion, not actual time travel. The mechanics behind the two would be completely different.

And you know the mechanics behind the two would be completely different... how?

Speeding up/slowing down time can be achieved within the rules of general relativity, while going backwards in time cannot.
