Introduction
I made up a tribe for my Runescape character to fit in. I also made up Purlen Woods. Icthlarin, however, is not made up. Look him up on the Runescape wiki if you're not familiar with him. The Purlen naming system is based on the book series Warrior Cats. Enjoy and give feedback :)

The Legend
The first Purlen were the souls that the god Icthlarin liked the most for various reasons. To prove it, Icthlarin gave them a second chance at life. But he didn't stop there. The reincarnated souls received two abilities of the god's favorite animal: the cat. The two abilities are subtle, but effective: night vision WITHOUT glow in the dark eyes and slightly higher agility capabilities than most humans. All of those souls happened to belong to humans. It is unknown whether this is a coincidence or not. When the first Purlen began their new lives, they were at the same age they were when their first life ended, but had no memory of their first life, so they were still dead to those who knew them. They were also placed in an area of the wilderness known today as Purlen Woods. Purlen Woods is still their main home.

Purlen Info
All Purlen children receive two part names. The first part can be almost any adjective or noun. The second part will usually be something that sounds catty. For example, here are the names that Icthlarin gave to the 10 first Purlen: Hazelfang, Windsoul, Iceclaw, Boldheart, Whitepaw, Stoneclaw, Duskfang, Firestripe, Dawnsoul, Ironheart.

When a Purlen reaches age 13, he or she begins combat training. Purlen can use any type of weapon they want, there are Purlen warriors, mages, and rangers. Tattoos are placed on the faces of new trainees as a rite of passage. The tattoos are always vertical stripes going over both eyes. Males get blue stripes, females get red ones.

Purlen abilities are always passed down to the next generation, even if one of the parents is a common human. We know this thanks to Emberpaw, the daughter of Windsoul and Duskfang. A male adventurer around Emberpaw's age was passing through Purlen Woods when he was ambushed by trolls. The Purlen decided to help him, but he was heavily wounded as a result of the ambush. Emberpaw, being a mage with knowledge of healing spells, was assigned the duty of nursing the adventurer back to health. She developed a stronger bond with him than the tribe expected...two months after he had his strength back, the first half-blooded Purlen was conceived. The adventurer asked to join the tribe, there wasn't much else he could do. "We'll think about it." was the reply. They did promise to let him stay at least until the child was born. It turned out to be a healthy boy(who got the name Earthfang), and the adventurer was such a good father that the Purlen couldn't just kick him out. They gave him the Purlen name Airstripe and told him he could stay.
