Oh dear.

We had debating about the debate guide. That was annoying enough.

We do not need debating in RP character in an RP guide. It's a confusing enough topic.

Y'all want to discuss and collaborate on this? Great, please do so, preferably while RPing as yourself. Y'all want to use your characters and debates as an excuse to flame? Expect a step.

Next time it might just be easier to link to the original guide here Guide so proper credit is given to the creator whose age and location are different to yours, might also have saved a lot of hassle here.

We apprieciate help on how to better ourselves, however we would apprieciate it more if the help was genuine.

Plagiarism aside, aG is right about one thing. This guide seems to be about dolling up a character and their actions instead more than anything else. I don't agree with HOW aG has gone about it, since he's pretty much acting like a troll (which doesn't help his case in the flame game D:<), but the criticism about the guide itself is pretty accurate. The only post that seems to be applicable to how we've roleplayed here is the post concerning overpowering and godmodding, since it fits into the give-and-take system we're trying to use.

Pinky, from what I know of you and your roleplaying ability, I like what I see. But you come from a site that IS NOT runevillage, and while there are a few serious RPers here, most of us who RP here aren't interested in major tl;dr posts. This is a runescape fansite, not a site dedicated to roleplaying, and in that regard; I fear you've wasted a lot of time with your guide. A very good thing to do is to majorly condense it and make some bulletpoints about the most important things to remember for roleplaying, and maybe most common mistakes? Your guide had some great things, like examples of godmodding, no auto-hits, and rule #5: DO SOMETHING! That's THE rule. Don't make worthless posts in an RP.

Then there was some stuff that doesn't apply here. For example, in my RP (that has nearly died, will be looking to fix that soon) Tread the Path, it's mostly up to me to describe the surroundings because they're in a world that I created. Kikori can describe some, because we've talked at length about the world. Then you have people like Tahu who just describe and put things where they don't belong or exist. :?: I'm charged with describing it because I created it, and that's fine.

I can agree that newcomers to RPing (as it pertains to THIS SITE) can be a bit more free with themselves. This comes with practice, though. At first you feel like you don't want to step out of line, you have to be fed enemies and places, but the more you RP the more comfortable you are with creating scenarios yourself within the RP.

Lastly, really have to point out that your title says "Basic" guide to roleplaying, and when I hear "basic" I think simple, short, easy to understand. This guide wasn't any of those things.

Good guide, but like I said. Far too long and involved for the casual RPers here. :(

EDIT: Agreed with kikori as well, how much of this guide is actually about roleplaying and the type of roleplaying that goes on here, rather than over-describing and overacting as your character?

Also, is aG's whole existence on this forum a roleplay? :?:

Interesting guide. However, your grammar, especially in examples, seems...stunted and abrupt, and doesn't flow very well. As for the actual advice, it's mostly good, though some of it (the whole character attributes thing) is irrelevant here. Also, on the whole "dodge, then gets hit" thing, that's actually how many strategies work (admittedly, it's still godmodding unless the attack was mentioned before). An example would be from our current Battlefield; I, as Mifune, tossed a bunch of swords up in the air, then Discrimin8, as Olaf, charged at me, managing to smack me up quite a bit. However, he didn't do anything about those blades, so in my next post, he got hit when they came back down.

He's switched between about three Homestuck characters so far, and on this forum, has been acting out EXACTLY like the aG character does in the comic series.

If you are talking about the speaking in 3rd person. That seems more of an ego trip to me. Quite...nevermind

Everyone on the Battlefield topic has roleplayed in third person. So either everyone's ego tripping, or your "nevermind" was a realization of that and that you're not in a position to try that route. :p

Was already mentioned, Sarah.

Sorry to troll-kill.

EDIT: Admittedly, it should have been more than a little one liner in our haste to attack, that could be so easily skimmed over.

Just saying.

and that line was also copy pasted from the link I gave, nothing original is in this, which is not what was implied by the OP.

Personally, I find it adorable.

It's a really cute persona he's got on.

Pinky, you're interpreting the first part of my argument completely incorrectly, so I'm not going to bother responding.

For the second:
