The nurses are the real workhorses, congratulations! I don't suppose you are starting work around the cleveland clinic are you?
No I won't. I'll be at MedCentral. We ship a lot of patients off to Cleveland though (mainly heart cases that our open heart doctor won't touch). Some trauma patients as well. Eventually I'd like to work for their life flight team.

You going back to school for your MD?
Nah. I'm eying three different master's degrees. In flight nurse practitioner (NP), registered nurse anesthetist, or acute care nurse practitioner specializing in cardiac. I need to have a minimum of a year of ICU experience (will have that in 1.5 years, I get to hit the ICU quickly)....but I'll aim for more around 3 years. Should also have my EMT by then as well.
Hiker, I start my new position next week.

hopefully this will give you a good bit of pemanant job security as well... most of the guys i've know who were nurses did so because they knew that if they took 3-6 months off to go hiking of fishing that they could always get a job when they came back!
