Cuz Black is my favorite album, but Ride was the one that sparked their popularity.

IMO concerning the new album, if metallica hadn't sold out before hand they have now, its hardly anything like the old thrash metallic, it reminds me alot of dream theater and to me is hugely prog rock/metal like Dream theater.

I enjoyed listening to it, i'm not saying it's bad, but its totally not metallica in my opinion.

Because Dream Theatre is a hugely commercial band...

I totally don't get it.... what has dream theater's success or commercialism got to do with it? Even with sarcasm i still don't get this? Are you commenting on them because you have never heard of them?

A similar band with similar sound for those who haven't heard of dream theater would be something like Rush.

It's different.

Technically, it is Metallica, they're the band that put out the record. :P

I don't think they "sold out", I think their music just changed. For better or worse can be argued, but they are still the Might Met in my eyes.

P.S. I just bought the album today! I'm happy with it.

Yes it is technically them, but the sound isn't typically them at all.
Like i said i enjoyed it, as i am a fan of dream theater and bands with similar sounds, but to me its just completely different sound to the metallica people know and love, and they might receive some bashing because of it, as it is quite a substantial change in sound.

As for raw, mackerel, when I say that I mean James' screaming vocals, Lars' intense drums, and Dave and Kirk's screeching guitar. I agree Maiden set the precedent, and they are more pure, so to speak. Metallica took "thrash" as it stood and revolutionized it more. I agree totally with Magicana when he says Music continues to be revolutionized. I believe Metallica to be a very important and influential band in the history of metal.

W00T! I love ZZ Top. Nothing cooler than hooking your guitar to your belt and spinning it around! :D Sweet.

Dave was and is a great guitarist. But, I don't like his attitude or his personality in general. I also hate his vocals. But I will give him props on his guitar skills.

Magic, if you were trying to post some pics or something, I can't see them. :?

The point with the book, she couldn't take it in the same direction necessarily. Her fans saw a teaser or whatever, and they'll be expecting certain events or characters or twists, which she might have changed or taken out in the final version. See where I'm coming from?

I understand a family doesn't stop bands from making good music. I meant they have more on their plate, that combined with the fact that they don't drink much anymore and that they are more mature as a band might have played a role in the changing of their music.

Devilman. I'm not arguing with anyone. Where do you see an argument? This is a discussion.

I haven't told anyone to get out. Quote me where I say that, and I'll admit I'm wrong and leave the thread.

I confused you and magicana....my bad. People were telling him to get out for whatever reason.

No one besides you has any kind of problem with me. Is this some sort of weird coincidence....?

I haven't deemed anything too negative to be posted...Again. Where am I saying these things? :-s

If you don't like my posts, why have you read them? If you don't like my "raging", don't read my posts. There's this cool thing that displays my name at the top of my post, so that you can't even accidentally read my super long raging posts. Simple.

I feel you vicious satirical sarcasm. Only a mind so superb to mine could come up with such witty, piercing sarcasm. It bites through my soul and chills me to the bone.

I'm not defending myself to your attacks any more, I'm not doing anything wrong. Until you prove that I'm raging, denouncing people's opinions, telling them not to post negative things, and telling them to get out, I'm not responding to anything else you say. It's thoroughly pointless.

All that being said, I attributed a lot of what people were saying to Magicana earlier in the thread to you for some reason. I think this is a Lars-Ulrich-ego-size (Insanely huge) misunderstanding. Ready to start over with a clean slate whenever you are.
