I don't have any pictures of the ladies yet, but I am going to try to get a picture of them on Wednesday, lol. Every time I go, I forget to take a picture of them. I get so caught up in the work around the barn, and watching the girls play with each other. Yesterday was a beautiful day out; still unable to ride because everything is still covered in snow, so walked them around for about twenty minutes, then let them loose, one by one after they were done being walked. It was funny yesterday, because Misi (one of the younger mares) kept trotting up behind me and Aurora (another one of the younger girls), while I was trying to walk Aurora around. Once and a while, Aurora would try to prance and trot to join her sister, but I would calm her and make her focus on her little task at hand. Then, I let Aurora loose and brought out Dawn, so both Aurora and Misi were teaming up, sometimes trotting behind, or playfully cantering with the occasional half buck. Dawn was good, and calm about the whole thing and paid no attention to the youngsters. Sasha was the last to be walked; my boss walked her around, with me still walking Dawn, Eventually the younger mares calmed with their play and started to follow My boss and I around, forming a single file line. It was a pretty good and fun day. Hopefully I can get some pictures of the mares on Wednesday... they can really be a hoot to work with.
It's weird but also kind of cute the friendships horses have. I remember doing this equestrian thing a while back for a YMCA camp, and the horse I was on would go out of line to just get behind his friend, no matter what I did to try and keep him in line.Statistics: Posted by Riptide — March 19th, 2014, 3:19 pm
